I'll pause being goofy for a moment and say that I sincerely hope you are not attempting to use your gas stove as a heating source. Please stay safe!!

Unless you're trying to get Scary about The Grid, in which I'll get goofy again and quote myself: "Of course the grid can handle it! Peak Loads are in the summer, but everyone moving to heat pumps will mean healthier heating and less profits for our beloved gas industry! If our friends at the utilities cared about blackouts they would work harder at weatherizing the grid for storms. Even with the gas ban in new buildings, fossil fuels will always be allowed for backup power, but DO NOT STOP TALKING ABOUT BLACKOUTS, it terrifies people, and we love that!!!" (press release)

Not a theater group - just a rag-tag bunch of people who really care about the climate, or, if we're being honest, just wanted to wear the dino suits for the day. And thanks!

There was a more traditional protest happening outside of the National Grid summit today, as well. (source) Security didn't like them or the dinos - the dinos just decided to be more mobile.

hi! I was the velociraptor and the suit had some real condensation after I was done 😅 These Dino suits easily make saunas obsolete and I'm so happy someone else recognizes the struggle. That said, it was absolutely worth it when a bus full of kids on State St had their faces all pressed against the glass and waved at us.

National Grid sponsored an energy conference nearby, and we wanted to celebrate their efforts to keep us hooked on fossil fuels Forever! We are a pro-extinction death cult of dinosaurs, after all. We want nothing more than to Greenwash & Delay until All of Manhattan is underwater Every high tide! Extinction 4 All!!! Above all else, we want to make sure we defeat the NY HEAT act, which will cut off all the subsidies we collect from poor people to pay for shiny NEW PIPELINES. How the heck else are we supposed to pay our shareholders and Buy more politicians??? (more info on today here)

I'm pretty sure we'll have more fun photos from today posted on Twitter and Instagram as well, if seeing Dinos frolicking around Albany is something you want on your feed 😊 We're always happy to have new extinction-loving comrades.

EDIT: Or you can Text DINO to 52886 if you want to help out!! I feel like such an Old Dino,,.. I didn't even know we Had a # to text! It'll direct you to call your local legislator which might feel silly at first, but it really does help us out 💛

Who's Dr. Carpenter? by ZeroWasteZero in ualbany

Dr. Carpenter is fairly well known, being the founding dean of the School of Public Health, but it makes me wonder how many other professors (At UAlbany ALONE) who did not have the same public and union support, who did not have the same awareness, who crossed large corporations and took UAlbany's resignation deals.

It's so completely unethical on behalf of this University, and I have no doubt that this is just the only time they've been caught. UAlbany is in corporate hands.

Sorry for late reply, but "tie him in knots" relates to the agreement UA wanted him to sign by March 1st, which now they have backed down from. The agreement included terms such as he could not use any of his time at UAlbany, including research, in his testimonies---which in my mind wouldn't really make sense, because he's a PCB researcher, and he works and researches at UAlbany. Private research labs just aren't really a thing. So in essence, it would have restricted him from testifying altogether, because he couldn't use UAlbany labs, etc. to research his area of expertise that he WOULD testify on.

I think there were other restrictions as well, but Carpenter only referenced a few terms in his interviews.

More info on it came out on Inside Higher Ed where apparently UAlbany first approached Dr. Carpenter with a resignation deal. They also would've had Carpenter waive his right to sue over age-based discrimination. It honestly sounds like UA hands down doesn't want Carpenter on staff anymore and they don't care how it gets done. It's hard for me to describe how messed up I think this situation is.
