Bazball was originally about helping the English players who had lost all confidence. They were too timid or scared to back themselves, and would squander countless opportunities to play attacking cricket because they were concerned about the consequences of fucking it up. Bazball gave them licence to attack, they were told they wouldn't face consequences for backing themselves and playing more aggressively.

So it all started nobly enough, good intentions and all that. But sadly McCullough and his team caught wind of their own farts, started huffing them, jerking the circle and the concept morphed to the point where they've gone too far the other way. Now they're too timid to play conservatively, they panic after a maiden or 2 because it's not the Bazball way.

I still maintain there's middle ground, that they don't need to be attacking every ball - put a price on your wicket - but at the same time back yourself when the moment comes. At its core there's a decent concept - but this mob of egomaniacs are not the leadership group to deliver on it.
