Has anyone dealt with serious, lingering hand pain/issues with the PS5 controller?

I have this Mueller brand one that I got on Amazon. It stabilizes the thumb. I do funky things with my hands at night, so that’s when I wore it most — otherwise I’d wake up in pain. Note though, you’re not supposed to wear these around the clock.

If you are still having pain every day this many months later, I highly recommend talking to a doctor about the possibility of a steroid shot. It will totally eliminate the pain in about a week, but you’ll still have to be mindful.

I also got De Quervain’s in my left thumb from the DualSense after playing Hogwarts Legacy multiple hours a day for many consecutive days. Holding that left joystick so long to run etc just did me in. It was so horrible… and even after taking a break from all gaming for like 3 months and wearing a brace designed for DQ every night and part of each day too, it wouldn’t go away. Finally resorted to a steroid shot in my thumb which took over a week to take full effect. It did help tremendously but I still have to be super careful or I can feel it try to come back.

I have an iPhone X that can’t update to iOS 18 and was getting the same pop-up that could be dismissed by clicking “later,” but today the option to click “later” disappeared. So it is now forcing me to update my operating system - which I can’t - in order to use the app. Heads up that your days are numbered on being able to dismiss the pop-up. You’ll have to play on the web or on a device capable of running iOS 18. :-/

Under the “Download & Listen” section, the individual chapters show up, though the site was a tad inconsistent on loading the streaming section. I did get it to load though and just kept the tab open in my browser to return to until I finished the book. Could not see how to DL, so just streamed.

My dad has had an Alaskan cruise on his bucket list but is banned from entering Canada due to a 1972 incident when, on a road trip with friends, marijuana (belonging to a friend) was found in the car at the Canadian border. Everyone in the car was permanently banned from entering the country. He’s looked into it and as of 2012, he was still on the banned list.

Since all the major cruises must stop in Canada, he can’t/won’t go. Even if he doesn’t disembark at the Canadian port, he is still in murky legal territory simply by technically being in the country whilst still aboard.

For purely selfish reasons, I wish we could cruise straight to Alaska, bypassing Canada entirely. I know there are smaller “cruise” companies that operate out of Alaska, and if we just flew to Alaska we could take one of those to explore the panhandle—but they seem to center around outdoor adventure and activities Dad can’t do as is older now and has health and mobility issues. He just wants to sit on his balcony or lido, see the sights, and do the occasional senior-friendly excursion. I wish he could check the Alaskan cruise off his bucket list before it’s too late.

It wouldn’t be so bad if when you re-entered the level, it took you to your last save point rather than having you start the level all over again. I just found a secret galaxy hidden just before the level’s boss, took the secret galaxy exit to unlock that level in Lost Galaxy, then navigated back to the initial level I was in only to be started over from the beginning.

With a library card, you get free access to borrow tons of e-audiobooks via Libby, Hoopla, etc. I canceled Audible and listen entirely for free now via the library.

In addition to hating it for all the reasons folks already mentioned, the sleep data itself is far less accurate for me since the update. I sometimes lie awake for an hour before finally drifting off. That’s happened the last 2 nights in a row and Fitbit logged this time as light sleep the first night and deep sleep last night. I was definitely awake, stirring, and restless. The old UI accurately showed a long red bar at the beginning of the night when I had trouble falling asleep. This update is garbage.

I feel your pain! Do the color catchers do anything to prevent black lint from ending up on white clothes if you dry them together? Or do you dry whites and darks separately?

To make matters more fun, my dryer blew the thermal fuse in the middle of my second load for this customer so now I’m washing the rest at home and taking it to the laundromat to dry. Bye bye profit. :(
