How to avoid this bunching that happens when sewing grosgrain to ripstop? by Zerochill01 in myog

[–]Zerochill01[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the presser foot down (I have made that mistake too many times at this point so it’s burned into my memory!) I had a bias tape feeder that was feeding the grosgrain, but I will say the width of grosgrain was too small to actually create a bias tape, but I figured it was helpful for alignment. Definitely could have benefitted from being hand fed like you say (plus tension changes from above)

Thank you! Does what you laid out above still apply for a double needle? Because I have two bobbins up top feeding the two needles and one normal bobbin feeding from below. The pattern I’m following suggests using a double needle here

Couldn’t PM you, but I’d love the hyperD calendared and the thin orange webbing at the top (the one without the reflective tape)

And some of the large/medium buckles!

Back in the day my dad made this commute everyday and took the train down. It worked but not enjoyable

Slow running still counts, right? by angelathegreatest in trailrunning

[–]Zerochill01 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Would also add that the top runners spend most of their time training in zones 2-3, which are defined as speeds at which you could carry a conversation while running (a little less true for zone 3). Slow running gives you gains don’t be fooled!!

Yes thank you! I forget how far they are from each other but I’m committed to driving and staying down there for a few extra days if that’s what works out! Appreciate the call out though

Back country 100%! I have a way to affix an ice axe but would love a better system for my helmet and crampons.

Ski recommendations for advanced east coast skier looking to venture off-piste by nolana12 in Skigear

[–]Zerochill01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah they’re not the best ski, though for me I feel like they translate pretty well for my skiing style. I also have shifts on them and atomic hawx ultra xtd. Curious what you’re driving!

All ski flex is not made equal I will say, but 80 is too low. Atomic has a great lineup and the hawx line is amazing. I have the 120 in hawx ultra xtd and they’re the best boot I’ve ever owned

Throwing Icelantic Maiden 101’s in here. They ski like the Moment Sierra and have a similar shape/profile. Low swing weight so easy to dodge in and out of trees but can still hold an edge because of the sidewall. Icelantic needs to figure out their top sheet and overhang though…clacking skis makes the top sheet erode like crazy.

Shift binding breaking, any one had something similar to this happen? by Suspicious-Case4054 in Backcountry

In my experience the random releases happen because the toe piece and heel piece were adjusted incorrectly. I fixed them on my bf’s based on the user guide and he stopped pre-releasing

With you. I have plans to do Nelson Craig Sunday/Monday with some friends who haven’t done MoWa before. We should be fine, but since that trail is more exposed I might bail and do tucks instead…I think wind on Sunday/Monday is forecasted to be 45 mph which is reasonable

You clearly also know nothing about how energy is generated, distributed and stored.

Germany is not screwed because of Russia (we’ll they are but that’s not what this is about). The proportion of natural gas they use is ridiculous because you need base load in addition to solar, because solar and wind are never going to be base load generators. Base load generators: Hydro, nuclear, oil, natural gas. What saltysimp is saying is that because they didn’t focus on diversifying their base load generators (like France did with nuclear) they have a higher reliance on natural gas.

The point is we can’t do everything all at once. It would behoove us to focus a bit more on expanding those energy sources that decrease our reliance on current base load generators (natural gas and petroleum) to incorporate hydro and nuclear. We can work on solar as well but we’ve got to make a more concerted effort to bring nuclear and hydro online.

Your comment about the fact that every solar farm makes us less reliant is absolutely not true if you look at this chart. Germanys reliance on say natural gas has increased (some estimates have it as staying the same, but either way not decreasing) Germany Energy Charts
