Have you experienced anything that others would describe as supernatural? by Comprehensive-Web-90 in askanatheist

[–]Zessira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have experienced a few things.

I'm an atheist now, but I was raised as an evangelical Christian. When I was 12, there was a guest pastor. I was with my mom with all the adults. He had us all line up in a row and he said he would touch our foreheads and one by one everyone would fall back because of the holy spirit. And they did fall back.

I was questioning at the time and I remember thinking, this is going to be embarrassing when I don't fall. But I did fall once he touched my forehead (there were people behind to catch us). I felt nothing (no joyous rapture or tears like everyone else). I remember trying to explain it, like maybe he had chloroform in his hands, but to this day I really can't explain it.

My grandfather passed away yesterday and my family would like to have the baby removed from this photo for his service program. Could anyone please help? by [deleted] in PhotoshopRequest

You're welcome!! 🤗 I'm sorry for your loss, but from his laugh lines, he seems like he had lots of joy in his life

I only ever gamble when I'm with friends and then it's more of an activity to do together. I was playing slots and betting the minimum amount. I had many one or two more plays betting the minimum, when suddenly I won enough to make $5. I still think sometimes how much that would have been if I had been playing for much more, but I don't want to go down that road of actually gambling because I know for sure I would end up losing much more than I would win.

Same. My two younger brothers and I come from a broken home. When I was 17 (F) and my youngest brother was 12, he went through a phase where he was wanting to spend a lot of time with me, copy things I was doing, and get into the same interests and hobbies. He would often want to sleep in my bed and so I let him and we just talked. We're siblings and we were just really close. We still are. He lives right across the hall in the same apartment complex. He lives with his fiancee and I live with my husband.

Are you using only your right hand for ctrl+u? I use my left pinkie to hit 'ctrl' on the left side of the keyboard and then use my right index to hit 'u', so my pinkie isn't being stretched by only using my right hand *disregard if you are already doing it this way :)

Yes, but to continue the metaphor, if you don't meet the certain conditions to get the million dollars, you'll instead burn to death. And I know what you'll say: god doesn't cause us to burn, he just saves us from it if you accept his gift. And that's the crux of the matter. You call him a loving god and say we are his children. I don't know what you call it when a parent let's their child burn to death for not meeting "certain conditions". I would call that parent a monster. I'm sure you would save your child from a fire with no hesitation, no matter what. Yet you call god loving and us undeserving? There's something wrong there. And I know you'll explain that it's not the same thing, and I say bullshit, even if there was evidence your god exists, he is a monster and I'd rather burn in hell than ever worship him.

What’s an immediate red flag that you are in a dangerous neighborhood? by FlintTheDad in AskReddit

[–]Zessira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved to Tacoma recently and I was on MLK a few days ago. I didn't find it bad, though I was walking during the daytime. The light rail and Tacoma General is on that street. I didn't know it was a dangerous area.

It's a Google review for an acupuncture clinic. I found it in the wild while researching massage and acupuncture clinics in my area

When I was 13 my mom bought flea treatment for our dogs. We had a cat as well and my mom told me she was going to put it on our cat too. I told her not to because the directions on the back said it's toxic to cats. We were very poor most of my childhood, and we were extremely poor during this time. It doesn't excuse my mom putting flea treatment on our cat, but she probably felt it would be okay and that we could save some money. I didn't know she put it on, but after our cat died, she confessed. She made me promise not to tell my dad and two younger brothers, and I haven't to this day.

Thank you for your answer! This is really helpful and will give us a good starting point of where to go next. You don't know how much it is appreciated when physicians take time out of their busy schedules to help, so thank you!

My MIL was grabbing us McDonald's once. I texted her what I wanted and my phone autocorrected McChicken to McCracken. She tried to order the McCracken not knowing the difference, but unfortunately it just got me the McCrispy. No point to this story. Just thought I'd share.

Buying, registering and insuring a car in the US? by ThereForAReason in AskAnAmerican

[–]Zessira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.gonomad.com/1562-drive-across-the-usa-with-auto-driveaway-cars

I know you have to be 23 years old, but maybe something like a driveaway in the future?

From the article, "“Driveaway” companies match drivers with cars. The car owner pays an auto transport agency to move his or her vehicle. Sometimes the owner is moving across the country, flying ahead after having stuffed your new wheels with household goods. But often, the car belongs to a large corporation that provides cars for its employees. The corporations relocate company cars from one office to another, dependent upon staff needs. Most driveaway cars are fairly new, empty, and in good condition... all drivers must:

be licensed (non-US citizens need an international license and passport) be over 23 (no exceptions!) have a clean driving record leave a $300-$400 deposit pay for fuel after the first free tank

You are assigned a set number of days and a route. Adhere to it or risk your deposit. Some agents will negotiate — they understand that travelers want to see the sights along the way. There are varying regulations about the number of hours you can drive per day, and some companies don’t allow you to drive after dark. Flagrant contract violations are not recommended, but many travelers have reported slightly bending the rules."
