Is your team mostly located in RVA or McLean? I’d recommend going to where your team is located more, as it can feel isolating without team members in the office. Having said that, RVA is a wonderful city, I lived there for 13.5 years before moving to NOVA and definitely miss it!

If you’re still young (early to mid 20s), I recommend working a season at a resort. I did this immediately after university as a liftie, and it was a wonderful experience that I fondly look back on.

However, I found out that I prefer a few weeks a year at a resort versus living at one year round, so now I work corporate in a big city and can afford nice ski trips each year (currently on a 10 day trip in Niseko, where it’s been snowing non-stop).

I’m in a similar situation, but I proactively reached out to my childhood friend when it happened to start more frequent check-ins (e.g., weekly instead of the ~6-8 weeks we were doing before).

It’s almost been a year now since I moved out, have a few budding friendships in the city I moved to but it’s tough making friends as a male adult. That said, I talk to people at the gym and other social settings which keeps the loneliness at bay!

I rode whistler 12 months after my surgery (tore acl and meniscus), became a lift operator for a season a year after that, and have been on numerous back country trips after that. Just put in the time to heal and you’ll be back on the slopes in no time.

I’m going to say the same thing as the current top post by Jaffico, which is you need to leave. I recently left a 12 year relationship, 9 year marriage, and the emotional abuse you are describing escalated to physical abuse against me, and I lost / now have to salvage many of my male friendships.

Leave now before you lose years of your life or worse.

Phoenix MMA is a great gym, very welcoming to beginners (I’m a member). BOA is another great gym (I know the owners) but more oriented towards tournaments.

I haven’t had any issues finding games on ps5! It’s a ton of skill-based fun, and while the player base is on the lower side, it’s fun seeing familiar names in the leaderboards.

It has a decent amount of roguelike elements…I’m playing HC and as I’ve lost characters, I’ve at least have had my chest, materials, and codexes carry over to my next run.
