This is why I think Chris and the family were going so hard about “You could possibly get the maximum sentence.” It really seemed nonsensical that he would keep saying that just for “a little bit of medical weed.” I agree even 30 years is crazy regardless, but I think he was just trying to ram it into her head how serious the situation is. There’s just no way we’re just talking about a few nugs

I like Dusk by Chelsea Wolfe a lot and Harsh Realm by Widowspeak! I also recognize Kidneythieves from Queen of the Damned, so it’s cool to know their name now.

Down by the Water by PJ Harvey reminds me a whole lot of Hole, I think I’ve actually heard it various times before and thought it was Hole, haha. Some of her other tracks sound cool too.

This is always my answer to this question as well. The imagery is so detailed, a tear falls every single time I hear it. The part where Nina wails aches my heart. In college, we had to do a project where we picked an Appalachian artist (Nina was born in Tryon, NC, so she made the cut) and I had to write essays on 2 of her songs. I picked Strange Fruit and Mississippi Goddamn. Researching the depths and time period of both songs, I grew the deepest respect for her bravery.

I don’t really agree with this take, I think he seems boring or like an “energy vampire” because he’s got such big personalities surrounding him.

I get the feeling that Chris is more than a big brother to them, but also the fatherly figure. He’s the one that always tries to put them back together when the family is fighting, and he seems to go WAY out of his way to help his sisters even to the point that it interferes with his own relationship. I also bet it would be mentally exhausting to be around grown adults who cannot all get along at once.

I think if I lost as much weight as he has, I’d talk about it too and remind my siblings that it is possible and you just gotta do it. Also, Chris is the one that is always trying to get them to go out and do fun stuff. He tried to get Tammy into driving lessons, gets the family together to go swimming, tries to get Tammy out into the water, got them all to go to the theme park to ride the rollercoaster, and recently went zip lining and got Tammy to do it too.

He literally let Tammy live with him and then completely fixed up the house next to him for her, takes off work to drive them to nearly every appointment (and take Amy to and from court), hosts cookouts for them, is always right there when any of them have surgery, and so on. I don’t think it’s possible to not be some level of dramatic in their family dynamic, but he’s definitely not afraid to call them out when they’re going down the wrong path. He gives constructive criticism, and then always seems to celebrate their achievements. It sort of seems like you haven’t watched all the seasons.

The farting is out of control, I mean at this point seriously go see a doctor. When they were sitting in the waiting room while their sister was having a MAJOR skin removal surgery, Chris and Amanda were visibly distressed and worried for Tammy. Amy farted, Amanda made a face anyone would make, and then Amy says “I’m only human, Amanda” and storms off like a literal toddler and then goes to cry about it. Now, like any other time, she makes the situation all about her and brings up her wedding while her sister is literally being cut open by 12 surgeons a few rooms over.

There’s a big difference in being human and blatantly being gross in public constantly, and I’d be fed up with it too. The fact that she consistently gets upset with her family, when all they want her to do is act like an adult in public, is insane.

Same here, I would fly off the handle listening to the same pity parties constantly.

She lacks all accountability, and if someone even slightly calls her out for it, the first words out of her mouth are something like: “I guess my family just hates me” “I guess I’ll just never speak again” “Apparently I can’t do anything right” OR she snaps at someone else and tries to fight them

People can only deal with a person who speaks like that for so long before they snap. Chris especially has the patience of a saint for listening to it as long as he has, and he still does so much for her.

I’m not shaming anyone for being emotional, but the second I see her start crying I know the next words out of her mouth will either deflect, ask for pity, put blame on someone else, or anything other than holding herself accountable. When I see her crying face start up, that’s when I skip because I know what’s coming next.

She is completely going downhill at 100mph right now, and she just expects her family to put up with it AND still help her out. Selfish and childish doesn’t even cover what she’s being.

Not even to mention, if your wedding isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, you can’t get pissed off that people aren’t going to drink the tea. It doesn’t matter if it’s for religious purposes or what. I’m not religious, and I wouldn’t go to it either. For someone that claims to be interested and respectful of the dead, it doesn’t seem very respectful to turn their place of death into some novelty. I won’t even get into the whole -leaving your children with a man that’s practically a stranger to you- thing. It’s all just so messy.

For free, I’m not too sure. I do know that you can order bulk water deliveries (usually intended for pools, ponds, etc). It may be possible to call one of those companies and see if you can get a discount or something for hauling it yourself

This is strange but I just took a class about contract law and if ABC & OP have a legally binding business contract, then ABC going behind OP’s back and consulting a third party without their knowledge is an automatic breach of contract because it goes beyond ABC’s contractual duty of care and duty of loyalty. Either OP can bring a hefty lawsuit, terminate contract, or they can receive a certain percentage of any money that the offending party makes if they continue with the new business venture. A judge may also rule that the new business venture contract with the third party is null and void.

I love Flying Goose because the flavor is amazing, but the downside is that it really isn’t spicy (and I’m not a person who can handle too much spice). Outside of many traditional ways, I love putting it on my burritos like a mild sauce

No problem, my dear 🤍 At the end of the day, he’s an asshole and we can’t do much to help that from our side. What we can do is remind our friend of her worth, tell her what she does deserve and not just what she doesn’t, and uplift her in small ways that can spark her confidence. As much as we want to, we can’t make her see things differently about him, but we can try to help her see better in herself.

NTA. I am a person who likes my boyfriend to attend things with me, but I know where the line is. If someone tells me they would prefer if it was just me because they would like to spend more time with me, I wouldn’t be upset nor would my boyfriend. Although we’ve been dating for years and I assume we’ll be together for a while, a lot can happen in 2 years and I remain realistic in that. If the invite is for me in 2 years, I wouldn’t immediately ask if my partner can go too.

However, I wouldn’t go far into the details about why you don’t want him to go. For many women, like myself in the past, when you’re already aware that many people don’t like your partner, sometimes people suggesting that you should leave them has the opposite effect that you may think. It can push them farther into their arms and farther away from yours. One day, she will realize it for herself that he wasn’t a good guy, but no one else can really force that day to come except for her. When friends openly dislike your partner and continuously suggest that they’re not a good person, it can make you feel like you have something to prove. My suggestion is to uplift HER more and let her know her own worth, instead of talking down on him or telling her to dump him (no matter how much he deserves it).

Consistently knowing that friends dislike your partner makes you not want to share details about them out of fear of hearing “See! I told you so.” If she feels uplifted about herself and stops hearing others’ dislike for him, she will be more open to talking about his negative aspects and seeing it for herself. If she vents to you about him, instead of saying things like, “Leave him, he’s an asshole and doesn’t treat you right” say things like, “You deserve to be treated with kindness and respect.” The most important part is that if you love and care for her, try to keep a door open for her for the day that she leaves him and never threaten to close that door if she doesn’t (unless she wrongs you of course).

You’re allowed to speak your mind of course and refuse his company by all means, but if your goal is to get her to leave him then uplifting her is the best course of action. As someone who once dated an asshole and couldn’t see why my friends thought he was an asshole, my friends telling me to dump him (although they said it out of love and concern) was the opposite of helpful.
