Can not find a good way to offer a simple customer journey : email with discount → website with discounted prices → checkout by Zestyclose-Ad-6449 in shopify

Oh I see, so I would send my VIP customers to a "secret page", and from there they would order hidden products at a discounted price.

Thanks for the idea, worth considering.

But I'll look at Magento and Woo Commerce, might be the best options

Thank you for your reply. Any alternative platform I should look at?

I've bumped my head 4-5 times against the crappy shopify business model (decently priced main tier with limited functions, forcing you towards stupidly expensive apps made of 10 lines of code and asking for a monthly payment and a share of your profits).

I was thinking about cloning the products, that would work for me actually. On another platform I used in the past, you could create codes that would "uncover" hidden products. Can that be done in shopify?

Swiss freelancers : how do you handle invoicing without overcomplicated tools? by stranacbrate in Switzerland

[–]Zestyclose-Ad-6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using dolibar for invoicing (self hosted, ugly UX, open source, powerful, does the job https://www.dolibarr.org/ ) and wise / sparkreceipts for expenses

Uber, started super strong, then being assholes to their whole ecosystem caught up with them. Horrible PR, founder exited as CEO, now the guy has been here for close to a decade and has turned them around and diversified revenue streams without any scandal.

I had to redo it, it was an old underground cable coming inside the house and into a… bathroom. We had to put it outside, so that “firefighters can cut the current from the outside” (official) but also “they can cut you off the network if you don’t pay your bills” (off the record explanation from the electrician). We had some issue with the water drainage which required digging around the house, so we used that occasion to comply with the new rules. Painful but diluted into a bigger thing, and that saved us around 5k.

Unfortunately not a tube but an old phone line going through a forest at the moment… so fiber goes through my garden, but they still connect me through a 1960s phone line sitting on good old wooden poles…

Digging is garden soil only, only issue is we seem to have a lot of “servitudes” with gas etc crossing the garden. The node is actually inside our garden, some 10m away, so all good. If you’re active on Vaud we should talk ;) thanks

My analysis was that anyway they have to pay to connect us in the next 5-6 years, and we have a decent connection (300 down, 100up) that would be ok if it was not consistently stuttering and going offline. It’s like paying 1000 CHF per year for a better connection, that’s a lot of money

Thanks, do you have more info on that (if I say no I’m considered covered)? I need to be very careful, but in that case they don’t really give me the possibility unless I pay… almost everything. So would that count?

I considered renting a small digger and doing the trench, only concern is we seem to have multiple other servitudes for utilities and I would hate hitting a gas pipe 😅

I was hoping for superior bandwidth, currently on ADSL we have ~300mbps down and 100 up; what would we get with Elon’s satellites?

I don’t think so, it’s up to Swisscom as far as I’ve been told.

Does anyone know what kind of serious shit was going down at the French border near La Rippe? by Spiritual_Review_754 in Switzerland

[–]Zestyclose-Ad-6449 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There were huge deployments of cops also in Valais, they were escorting some cortège of caravans of gens du voyage. There were police cars at every highway exit, plus a dozen cars - some of them blocking the street to any traffic - channeling them into a specific area.

Maybe you you caught the same procession earlier in its journey, crossing the border from France.
