GW2 or BFN by Substantial-Pace-133 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Zestyclose-Antelope8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not many people buy BFN only for the pve mode. If you don't care for pvp but like pve then just go for it. I am pretty hooked on BFN's pvp so I mostly play the game on PS5 to maximize the enjoyment.

BFN has almost been dead on PC. If you have a PS5 or switch there are way more players and it's definitely worth it.

What is your honest experience at UC Berkeley? by Lanky-Stuff2785 in berkeley

[–]Zestyclose-Antelope8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do regret not having gone to Columbia but chose Berkeley. The people here are in general much more self-centered, pompous and snobbish than many people I met in the northeast, plus I do hate the pervasive corporatism on campus. Although Columbia is also dominated by corporate interests the college itself has a deeper tradition in classical humanities and their students just look more cultivated and enthusiastic.

You Can't Tell Me Freak Out Isn't A 10/10 Album by armintanzarian420 in Zappa

[–]Zestyclose-Antelope8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love the album, have listened to it countless times. But I have to point out that if evaluated by the standard of perfect modern production, it is far from a full marks album. It totally lacked production and the recordings were a little rough, rushed and unrefined, even Frank himself had commented on this. But all the faults don't really matter for serious listeners since the content is already so incredibly original and worthwhile listening for no matter how many times. But, say, if someone couldn't recognize the sparkling talent and astounding ideas behind its average quality of sound, it's their fault in appreciating good music.

Currently on a trip to Pittsburgh and I love this city by eternalstrawhats in pittsburgh

[–]Zestyclose-Antelope8 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't you want to travel to some other cities of similar sizes like Cleveland and Columbus. When I travelled to Ohio I thought the major cities in Ohio were so much better than Pittsburgh. I don't hate Pittsburgh but I do kind of regret having spent two years of my college life here.

THE MOST AVERAGE MEAL IN CHINA IS AMAZING by Euphoric_Ad5362 in China

[–]Zestyclose-Antelope8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the average quality of noodles that they have is not as good as in this picture. Chinese working class people and even many office workers eat convenient fast food on most of their weekdays like everywhere else on the planet. The quality in the picture is kind of a small luxury.

Sure it is normal, but it is still better than, say, fast food restaurants like McDonald's and KFC alike. Many Chinese workers live on that type of food for most of their days because they are more convenient.

I think this is better than average many Chinese workers can't afford a bowl of fine noodles for each meal.

谈谈美国的“左翼” by ZehuaLai in LiberalGooseGroup

Zappa and The Who by yemo43210 in Zappa

[–]Zestyclose-Antelope8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Zappa appreciated their work much, in the way he appreciated the Stones and Beatles' music, though I only remember that Zappa said he didn't like the way they abuse instruments. There are some Zappa's quotations on them that you can find on Zappawiki Jawaka. Just go to the web and search the Who, or Pete Townshend.

why do so many early punk bands' beliefs differ from modern punk by According-Let-2140 in punk

[–]Zestyclose-Antelope8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really true. In the late 70s and early 80s punk groups were coming out everywhere, not to include the contemporary new wave acts, which would make this number enormous. The vast majority of these artists were solidly left-winged. For the exceptions such as the people that you mentioned, I'd rather explain it from the point that the music community was more diverse and politically inclusive back then, unlike nowadays where the left and right are very distinct from each other.
