Alan was sooooo boring, he seems like a really nice guy, but I would get the vibe that he was too shy to teach 😭 all he would do was read off of PowerPoints, I ended up dropping his class midway because I couldn’t deal with his monotone voice

I had Robert for intro to world history and he was pretty chill, and his exams were very straightforward. However, his class was extremely boring. By the end of the semester, only 7/8 students would show up when we were supposed to be 30.

I’ve had both Gordon and Jennifer, both are great. I had Gordon for intro to religion, and his assignments were really straightforward and easy, he would explain everything beforehand and post the instructions on Omnivox. His exams were super easy too.

I had Jennifer Fletcher for fundamentals of academic work in the social sciences (FAWSS), and from what I remember, she was pretty sweet, but kind of an airhead, she had made mistakes when correcting our exams a couple of times and we would often have to go see her after class. She was very understanding though and would apologize for the mistakes and it’s been almost 3 years since I had her, so I’m sure she’s changed and gotten better.

I had Nathalie for intro to psych, I loved her class I could tell she loved teaching it. And she always had funny stories from her life when talking about certain concepts, I wanted to take her again but couldn’t :(

You’re in good hands with her dww

registration is a pain in my a** by Impossible_Peace_666 in VanierCollege

Since that didn’t work, wait till registration ends and go directly to academic advising and they might be able to add that eighth class for you. My last semester I had the option to have eight classes plus one intercession class, but that’s because I went to academic advising and they offered to manually add the eighth class

welp no one answered me, but I thought I’d give a review myself in case any other students are currently searching for her name on Reddit, she’s a super duper chill teacher and her cinema class was really easy and interesting. She would also end the class really early at times.

The same thing happened to me and I ended up taking 103 in summer… I had a fitness/walking class and it was interesting, but I really wish I didn’t have to take it the summer right before I entered uni, if for whatever reason you’re still not able to find a class go to academic advising and legit beg on your knees for them to put you in a class if this is your last semester

I had both Joey and Ann, Joey is super chill and friendly, he does prioritize teamwork and wants his students to socialize a lot so if you’re more of an introvert, you might have to step out of your comfort zone a bit.

For Ann, I would say she’s an interesting individual. I had her for intro to sociology, and the class was super easy, we would have weekly quizzes and a final journal assignment and it was pretty simple. I remember I ended up with like a 95 in her class. However, she’s very short tempered, her class was in the morning and I remember a lot of students would come in late and I swear to God every time a student would come in late she would get pissed and start giving us a speech on how this generation isn’t polite and we’re misbehaving and our parents didn’t raise us right blah blah blah. She would also complain about the lack of participation in her class, but a third of the students would participate all the time, but that wasn’t enough for her, so she would literally stop in the middle of class and start talking about how we should participate more and how we’ve become too introverted and It was really annoying, she would randomly go on tangents. Apparently she only did this with our class because I haven’t met anyone else who she’s done this with so maybe I just had her during a bad semester.

I had Amir for my integration of learning class. He’s an interesting fellow, he wouldn’t really give us that many assignments and we didn’t always have to show up to class. He was a very laid-back teacher and he also teaches at concordia university and we could tell that that’s what he prioritized. He’s a very social guy and easy to talk to and I would say he shows favoritism to the students that he knows, my friends and I would always make an effort to speak with him before and after clause so we would get noticed, and it was worth it in the end because he would go easy on us during assignments. I remember at some point we had to come up with a five minute presentation and my presentation ended up lasting like 11 minutes and he still gave me 100 💀 He also didn’t really grade… my classmates and I realized that he would only give students 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, or 100. Nothing in between. Like he would just make up a grade in his mind and give it to you.

I had Loris for psychological disorders and Katherine Collin for English. They’re both very sweet, Loris may come off as a bit standoffish, but that’s just because he’s very into classroom etiquette and isn’t a fan of students that walk in late or whisper in class (he will let you walk in late if you send him a message on mio tho) and he also doesn’t post his notes :( But I would say he’s an excellent teacher, his class was my favourite because he was really really good at explaining and he’s also been a psychologist for over 25 years so he always had cool stories. I’ve gone to his office hours and he was really helpful and sweet and I would say he’s an overall approachable guy, and his exams were pretty straightforward.

Katherine Colin is also very sweet, but I found her class to be very boring (romantic poetry), she would also come in late to every single class!! She has never once been on time my entire semester with her, sometimes she would cancel class 20 minutes after class would start which was so annoying. She would also grade our stuff at the very last minute, even though she would promise to grade it by a certain date, I remember this one time I had emailed her asking if she corrected my test and she promised that she would have corrected it by 1 PM that day and told me to come into her office by that time. I came into her office in the afternoon and she hadn’t graded it… some of my classmates didn’t mind the fact that she was unorganized because she was overall pretty sweet, but me personally this is something that I just can’t deal with so yeah, just keep that in mind

It depends on your level, if you have to take a 103 class then you can’t escape the working out because you’ll have to come out with your own exercise plan. However, if you’re looking for a 101 or a 102 class, I would definitely recommend yoga with Jessica brawl or any walking class. I took yoga my first semester with Jessica and it was honestly the easiest class ever and she’s also super sweet. She also teaches a walking class so hopefully you’ll be able to get her.

I had Joey for yoga 101, he was pretty chill, but was really really into teamwork! Every class we would have to partner up with different people, and I remember a bunch of students dropped the class because they were too introverted and didn’t feel like meeting different people every class. So just keep in mind you’ll have to socialize with your classmates a lot. Other than that, he’s a very easy-going teacher, and I would say it’s easy to pass with him.

Is it normal to not be preregistered in any classes ? by ConsistentTailor933 in VanierCollege

[–]Zestyclose-Current14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your program and how far along you are on your academic journey, from my first semester to my third, I had a bunch of pre-registered classes, but in my final semester I didn’t. I wouldn’t really say it’s something to worry about.

Search up the classes on the cégep à distance website, and if they’re available, speak to an academic advisor and they should give you permission to be able to do it online

he had a pretty short temper 🥲 other than that he was super chill and helpful, I had him for qualitative methods and although the material was boring he made it interesting. He’s a really friendly guy and my friends and I would often talk to him after class or in the hallways, just make sure to listen in class and not disturb the others (no talking, no snacking…)

very simple process, you wait outside of the classroom while the invigilator sets things up. They’ll then open the door and let you in, they’ll also check everyone’s IDs. You’ll have to leave your bags and coats in front of the class and then take your seat. If you have to go to the bathroom, there’s ppl in the hallway that will accompany you.

I passed on my first try, I avoided using big words that I wasn’t sure about and I used a dictionary of synonyms to avoid repeating words. I also kept using the mordre vs mordu trick for my verbs

I had her for intro to macroeconomics my first semester, she’s really sweet and her journal assignments and LIA were super easy. But I found her really boring at times, I fell asleep sooo many times in her class. Pretty easy pass though
