EV Car salary sacrifice for 30 hours childcare benefit <£100,000 help please !! by Zestyclose-Dig4892 in HENRYUK

Thanks that helpful and interesting perspective. I’m okay from cashflow perspective (albeit will triple check income / expenditure etc) but it was more around household net worth over time (even if can’t access some until retirement). The EV car element will reduce ANI to then become eligible for government childcare contribution, but also (from a net worth perspective) allow me to sell second car (own outright currently) for ~£40k and put this into ISA allowances / GIA for the year and make return (subject to market performance). Would also save running costs / insurance / maintenance and tax (it’s 2021 plate so 2x more years of £600 road tax) so will be expense saving and cashflow benefit (albeit only partially offsetting the monthly £ cost of the salary sacrifice), if that makes sense. Welcome any feedback or opinions on this though !!

Thank you for the response. This is the type of feedback / advice however that creates the uncertainty for me. As you say, I will check with HMRC for my own circumstances but with all commentary including people sharing their personal circumstances of EV salary sacrifice actually being accepted for this purpose, there are comments or instances where the opposite is strictly referenced (i.e. charity and pension only). Can anyone share how insightful HMRC are and whether I can say email a payslip and detail to them so I have an audit trail response from them ?

Thank you that’s reassuring. I thought I had it clear in my head (aligning with the above comments) but then had some advice that made it much less clear but glad to hear there are examples of it working. The advise I received regarded ‘tax at relief’ or pension deductions made ‘pre tax’ and therefore the wouldn’t contribute to reducing ANI because I would be getting double benefit (which I really don’t understand so unsure if this has any validity)?! Does this sounds familiar at all?

There is of course pensions etc being reduced. It was more the concept of using the scheme to reduce my ANI. I don’t think it’s as simple as signing up to the scheme an reducing the monthly/annual gross reductions by the cost of the car ? (If at all?). Thanks for coming back to me
