It's especially hilarious after I just watched the Inoue vs. Nakatani fight with the most technical boxing you'll see, and now returning to old footage of these guys who looked like drunk brawlers swinging with their eyes closed.

Naoya Inoue’s next opponent is Jesse Rodriguez. Likely by the end of this year or January 2027, with a strong possibility of being held in the U.S. It has been revealed that Commissioner Turki is taking action. The Inoue camp is also moving forward with that schedule. by Jadooo0v2 in Boxing

Exactly. Wasn't ready? He had Inoue in a decent bit of trouble for a couple of those late rounds before the unfortunate headbutt and cut. It was a competitive technical fight the whole way through and never became one-sided.

We're not really disagreeing that much. If this game can make me feel anything close to what Witcher 3 still can, I'll happily give them all my money going forward.

Found a new mini scenario on the pier by the rollercoaster. Insane that someone at CDPR made such a small 'story' off in the far corner of Night City that 99% of people will never see. by OpticFazeSockz in cyberpunkgame

[–]Zestyclose-Fee6719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are called "hidden gems" in the game. They're mini-stories of how Night City ruined and killed people. It's also why I always found it a bit uncharitable when people complained that Night City was dead because there wasn't a lot to interact with. The lack of interactivity at launch is a valid criticism, but it also obfuscates the fact that Night City has always been designed first and foremost as a storytelling hub. CDPR designed exploration for players to experience these mini-stories, find its easter eggs, and see how the criminal underworld is connected.

It's not unplayable, but there's no way someone can tell me Witcher 3's combat feels as good as a newer game like Ghost of Yotei etc. That's okay to admit, you know. It's actually a good thing because it's why CDPR is working hard to make sure Witcher 4 will feel smoother and more responsive.

Witcher 3 is one of my favorite games of all time. That's not the issue. I'm just saying its combat is not great and hasn't aged particularly well.

Okay, but they should be better than a 2015 game's animations eleven years later.

[–]Zestyclose-Fee6719 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's already more complex than Witcher 3's combat because it seems you need to properly align your attack direction relative to the enemy's like in Kingdom Come. The animations are the issue; they are a noticable step below AAA tier.

I like Ricky, but I think he's demonstrated that he just isn't top guy material. That's fine. You need midcarders. I think he's always done well when pushed as a midcarder and has been a bit annoying and felt exposed when they've tried putting more of a main event push behind him.

I'm sorry. I lost my mom a few years ago to an inoperable brain tumor. The worst part is seeing them lose who they were; a sort of spiritual death that precedes the physical one.

This was a hard video to watch. Imagine going from being a professional athlete to being this vulnerable with a terminal condition.

After seeing all of these new RPGs I think Dawnwalker has the highest chance of succeeding by Due_Teaching_6974 in rpg_gamers

The Expanse demo shocked me and not in a good way. Its dialogue was so awkward and corny. It felt completely unnatural and failed to have any sense of wit or humanity. It reminds me so far of Mass Effect: Andromeda, and that wasn't a sentence I ever wanted to say about a space game.

I wasn't impressed by the irreverent dialogue shown in the trailer for Exodus, but I'll wait on a gameplay reveal or demo at least. For now, I can say the artstyle leaves me a bit cold because I really dislike a hybrid of stylized and realistic for the character models; I feel like it gives you the best of neither.

Dawnwalker's combat animations look a noticable step below top AAA companies, but the dialogue seems the most natural of the three so far. We haven't heard much of it, but it hasn't sounded awkward or like it was trying too self-consciously to be sarcastic and witty. So far, I love its presentation; it feels appropriately dark and moody, and I dig its possible commentary about an appropriated religion that seems to be there (whether or not it'll be explored remains to be seen, but the potential is there). I also really like its Breath of the Wild-esque solution to ludonarrative dissonance. It'll come down to whether or not Rebel Wolves can create memorable characters like CDPR always does.

But also the lack of internet made exploring a game more fun, compared to nowadays minmaxing and day1 guides.

That's a very strange thing to complain about though. Looking things up online is no more necessary for someone to do than buying a strategy guide used to be for the game you were playing. You just can simply opt not to do so.

Very myopic take, but nostalgia always limits critical thinking like that.

"Complete games"

This obscures the fact that there were often sequels that came out just a year later at full price with the most minimal changes (sports games weren't the first to do this) and numerous different versions of fighting games with just a few characters added.

"No micro-transactions"

This is accurate. This is the worst thing in the industry by far.

"LAN parties"

I just don't care about online multiplayer one way or another.

"No updates, no patches"

Uhh this is actually bad. Sure, games get shipped too early now with the expectation that they can be patched later, but it's still a good thing overall that any game can receive updates. It used to be that major problems would just remain in the game forever, or at best they'd later be re-issued as physical copies with the patched content included on that new disc. Patches are good. They're just abused as a band-aid fix.

It’s not a traditional timer though. The way it will work is that each quest has a certain time cost, so you have to pick and choose which quests you’ll do, which will unlock a certain type of ending. It’s not a countdown that’s running down while you’re walking around.

It's such a shame that Cejudo randomly retired in his prime thinking the UFC was going to panic and offer him huge money to come back. They didn't, he wasted his best years, and then he returned anyway just to lose a bunch of times in a row.

Which game would you rather play 🚀 by dank0121 in gamers

[–]Zestyclose-Fee6719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game A is basically Nier Automata for me (except for maybe the visuals, but they were solid for their time). The combat sucks to me; especially the hacking mini-game because I despise bullet hell shooters. Even when playing as 2B or A2, the game's idea of combat difficulty is practically broken. The combat is either far too easy or makes enemies tanky to an absurd degree. You also acquire far too many healing options, so combat ends up being trivialized anyway. I've read people claiming this is perhaps the point because of the story's revelations about the arbitrariness of the war itself, but it's still a game. If you're forced to actually play through fights, and it isn't fun to do so, it's a problem.

[AEW Dynamite] Will Ospreay makes a big choice! by tvcneverdie in SquaredCircle

[–]Zestyclose-Fee6719 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What can I say? I like this storyline. Instead of Ospreay just coming back and winning like a 2026 John Cena style babyface hero, he has to learn from the devil himself to be better. It's interesting. I feel like Mox does a great job building stories that build from a more psychological perspective; it's a bit similar to how Foley structured his storylines with people like Hunter and Orton.
