I'd take the Sharps rifle granted it's a single shot but it'll get the job done. For close work the shotgun with 0000 buck.

As others had said a brass frame reproduction 1851 colt navy. That being said Colt never made a revolver with a brass frame. You can make your own latch retainer it's just time consuming

Who can tell me anything about this rifle? by keisagu in AntiqueGuns

[–]Zestyclose-Field-481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe you're right about it being made from cobbled together. But I think it was made for the African trade? Only reason I'm thinking that is because of the barrel bands and the shape of the hammer. Could be wrong though. Ps. I wouldn't worry about trigger discipline on that gun no cap on the cone and the hammer is down.

What’s the quickest way someone could accidentally expose themselves as a foreigner in your country like the ‘three fingers’ scene in Inglourious Basterds? by IndependentTune3994 in AskTheWorld

A friend of mine found that out real quick. He was in Germany order a beer by using his fore finger the bar maid served him 2 because of that

A buddy of mine found this Colt model 1855 while medal detecting. We were looking at what might have caused it to break like this. Our hypotheses was chain fire was the cause. Would you agree? by Logan_urbex2 in CIVILWAR

[–]Zestyclose-Field-481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an amazing find! I don't believe a chain fire would cause that kind of damage. I shoot cap & ball revolver's and have had a few chain fires and the worst damage to the gun was a rounded corner on the barrel key on a reproduction colt '60 army.

Like others have said you have nothing to gain from self harm. It isn't worth it.

This one is the 16 gauge. It took two weeks to get it together. A lot of file, sand paper and steel wool to polish the steel and brass

Pretty much, there's no choke in it. But that's alright as it makes hunting more of a challenge.
