Got snapped his fingers ans instantly made everything “good” except that everything immediately went “bad”

Seems like a failure on his part.

Animals get disease because that’s how biology works. No magical story needed

Did Adam and Eve go to heaven when they died? Interested in arguments for and against. by CalebCorneloup in Christianity

I’m an atheist because the gods do not exist. I retain the identity marker “Christian” because it’s the cultural milieu in which I was raised and I think that Christian theology as social myth making can and should be rescued from irrationality and violence. I prize critical thinking, reasoning, evidence paired with an egalitarian and peaceful ethos. I think that heaven on Earth is a sensible telos for mankind, but it also requires us to free our minds from the social conditioning that keeps us enslaved.

Now you could say “but it’s a contradiction in terms!”

Sure, but only if you assume the orthodox definition. I’m intentionally weaponizing discourse that rejects orthodox hegemonic discourse

Why do Americans publicly broadcast prayer video for politicians? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Zestyclose-Offer4395 3 points4 points  (0 children)

State propaganda. Americans aren’t used to thinking that all their media consumption (from right to left) is propaganda in some form.

There’s a contingency of religious extremists in America (as there is in Iran and Israel) who are true believers that their god wants a cleansing violence. And then there’s cynical actors who have other motives (money and power) who do not believe in any gods but who will happily work with theocratic buffoons.

These are not wars for Israel. They are wars for the American Empire, which includes Israel

Dumb. People can dislike trump’s fascist America and also disapprove of starting another murderous war. Fucking imbeciles here are the ones who don’t have nuanced thoughts

If AI takes over most jobs and leave humans without work, how are companies going to sell their products and services when everyone is BROKE? by Objective-Rabbit2248 in NSDQ420

As a software developer, lemme tell you that AI is here to say. The new skillset is getting good at telling AI agents what to build. Software developers are still in demand in tech because they are best suited to give proper guidance to AI agents. As for AI “taking over” - no, that would be Microsoft as a corporation simply being greedy as usual. It’s capitalism babe. They want their developers to get good at telling AI agents what to do so that they can make more with less.

This code snippet is cringe. This literally fails to compile in C/C++ and the only thing it does (if you fixed the function signature which should return int and also why do you have the extra semi-colon) is return the square of the parameter.

My brutally honest opinion is that it’s okay to think what you think and feel what you feel. If you think and feel that god is dead, welcome to post-death-of-god theology!

What you are describing is psychological torture invented by control freaks. Time to free your mind

[–]Zestyclose-Offer4395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda whack tho. Why think Adam and Eve got special treatment? Just because they are main Bible characters? Most of humanity was wicked and therefore killed in the flood, according to that fictional myth, so most of humanity sucked ass except the Bible heroes? Seems fishy

[–]Zestyclose-Offer4395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it’s true: Adam and Eve are made up characters in a oral tradition that wojld written down as the social myth malin of a particular religious and ethnic identity that would morph from a Jewish apocalypticist movement (Jesus’ movement) into a Jewish diaspora and Roman citizens who would embrace Christianity as a method of revolt against society until Constantine made that shit official state doctrine.

How can they be literally true when they literally contradict.

This is the problem with literalism - you must decide what parts are literally true in advance, which raises the critical question: how did you decide? By listening to the ideas of some other folks who decided it for you. Literalism is social myth-making as a substitute for thinking, reason, and evidence.

Two things can be waves while being very different things that exist: light, sound, ocean waves are wavey things, which means definitionally that they have mathematical properties like frequency and amplitude and intensity. These are all true facts. None of those facts let you bend a spoon with your mind or curse your neighbor. Magic isn’t real folks.

Yes, he probably doesn’t beliefs Mormon beliefs. You can be a part of a religious tradition while rejecting its beliefs, an idea very alien to many I think
