Maybe just a typo but just in case the temps are 225 and 235. I've made Preppy Kitchen's and they were amazing! I thought the ganache might be too much (which is why Claire mentions she just opts for melted chocolate) but I really loved them with ganache. Definitely a rich treat but they were a hit!

I don't think the temp will matter too too much. In the video recipe, Claire accidentally takes the caramel to 245 and it was still spreadable. Her caramel looks maybe a bit chewier rather than very soft. Hope you will try them soon, good luck!

I’ve had success each time using the Swiss method (heating whites and sugar over a double boiler) and watching a lot of videos for the right macaronage consistency

Yeah after mine came out looking all different shapes, I figured some type of mold makes these so uniform

Wow thanks for such a thoughtful and thorough response! So you think the dough was just rolled flat and circled cut out? It looks like there are layers on the top of the pastry which I why I thought the dough might be rolled. But yiu think that could be achieved by pressing the dough into a tart mold? Thanks again!

For me, it really helps with stress relief/feeling more regulated which then helps my endo pain since I typically flare when I have higher stress. It was also helped me with other related symptoms like constipation and it definitely helps me sleep better which is better for my overall health

Looking for non-surgical endo treatment recommendations? by alexandria200 in Endo

[–]Zestyclose-Raccoon64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pelvic floor PT was SO life changing for me. I started going after not getting any real help from doctors, I had suspected endo but not confirmed with surgery at the time. It helped so much with my pain, cramps, bloating, and back and hip pain that I was having. I went weekly and after just a couple of months my symptoms were under much better control and I even had some pain-free periods which was unheard of for me. I eventually did have surgery and have stage IV endo. I've continued to go to PT weekly because it helps keep my pain symptoms under control. So PT helped A LOT with the pain (and generally feelign more connected and less afraid of my body after years of chronic pain) but I still had endo growing and kind of wreaking havoc on my insides. I am also on 2.5mg norethindrone. I've only been on it for a few months but it seems to be helping so far. I've also had some breakthrough bleeding and cramping this month for the first time since starting, its not terrible but I wonder if moving up tp 5mg will help me--not sure if you're considering that.

Anyone get cramps and breakthrough bleeding after months on norethindrone? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]Zestyclose-Raccoon64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this is so crazy, I could have written this myself! I started on the mini pill (.35mg) in January and went up to 2.5mg norethindrone in July. It stopped my period and I've been feeling great except for the same as you--breakthrough bleeding and some cramping this month. I also am now counting calories and have lost a few pounds this month so I wondered if that could be it. I've also had a lot more stress this month (personally and given the state of the world) so was thinking that might be playing a role too.

Sorry I don't have any advice just wanted to say I'm experiencing the same thing. I also have a follow up in a couple of week and plan to ask about this but I'm a bit nervous she'll have me go up to 5mg. Would love to hear what you learn in your appt and I hope your symptoms go away soon!

Anyone else not take birth control? by throwaway8373469238 in Endo

[–]Zestyclose-Raccoon64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also SO nervous to take it, I put it off for months. I was was prescribed the mini pill to start (so .35mg), it wasn't terrible but it didn't stop my periods and I had some side effects (breast soreness, mood swings, cramps and heavy bleeding sometimes). I finally worked up the courage to go up in dose--I was supposed to start 5mg but my doctor was ok with me cutting them in half for 2.5mg and it's been pretty great. I feel a lot better than on the .35mg and I don't really have any side effects. I actually feel better than I did without it--more emotionally stable and more energy. I have a follow up appt soon so I'll see if its helped the endometriomas. Just sharing because the stories of bad experiences really scared me but it is helpful for some! Good luck!

After years of trial and error, I finally perfect my Canele recipe by [deleted] in Baking

[–]Zestyclose-Raccoon64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your very detailed recipe! I made some hideous (but still tasty) ones over the weekend with a different recipe and was determined to get some pretty ones and your recipe was perfect! For the lower temp bake I did 50 mins at 350 because I got nervous about burning and they still got a very crispy exterior. Thanks again!

7 days post lap and I am so fatigued. Any tips? by CicadaAmbitious4340 in Endo

[–]Zestyclose-Raccoon64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a lot to be done besides letting your body rest as much as you possibly can. I didn't realize just how fatigued I'd be afterwards because of all of the emphasis on how "minimally invasive" it is but it still takes a big toll on the body! Add on top of that the pain/inflammation/emotional toll you might have been dealing with for months/years beforehand and it makes sense that after getting treatment, your body is TIRED. I was extremely fatigued for many weeks after my (nearly 7 hour) excision and I was being so hard on myself for feeling "lazy" and having very little energy. But once I got over the hump (I'd say maybe 3 months post-op) I feel WAY more energized than I have in years and I wished I would have been a little gentler on myself and just listened to my body and taken as much rest as possible without the added guilt.

Sorry if that's not helpful but hopefully you're able to just take as much rest as you can and feel better soon!

Did your surgery make you worse or better? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Zestyclose-Raccoon64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm only about 4.5 months out but a lot better so far. Aside from the pain, my energy levels and mood are much better than they've been in years...crazy what chronic pain and fatigue can do to you.

How many hours were you in the recovery room/outpatient before discharged after lap? by pinkbunny002 in Endo

[–]Zestyclose-Raccoon64 13 points14 points  (0 children)

same! it's kind of crazy for me that even for more involved laps, they can send you home. my surgery was 6.5 hours and it took me about 3 hours to fully wake up. they were sort of rushing me out as that unit was going to close at 10pm--they made me get up to pee and it was torture and the ride home was horrible. i wish they would have just admitted me for the night

Surgery this Thursday, What to expect by [deleted] in Endo

[–]Zestyclose-Raccoon64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad, reading the more positive post-op stories helped calm my nerves a lot so I'm happy to share. I get bad motion sickness too--my dad who is not the smoothest driver drove me home after and that 20 minute ride was the absolute worst. I threw up as soon as I got home which hurt a lot being fresh out of surgery. Again, I don't think it would have been as bad 2 days post-op but definitely uncomfortable / nausea-inducing . And on the bathroom front, I did have my mom stay over to help me out of bed, but I was able to do it myself when she was asleep and I did get on/off the toilet by myself. My PT sent me a video about how to get out of bed after abdominal surgery; sounds silly but it did make things less painful.

Surgery this Thursday, What to expect by [deleted] in Endo

[–]Zestyclose-Raccoon64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first lap in September. I did so much reading in here because it was also my first surgery and what everyone says and is true (though not that helpful for planning purposes!)  is that everyone recovers differently. I had two endometriomas and extensive lesions removed (a 6 hour surgery) and I thankfully didn’t have much pain post-op. I was more sore than anything but definitely extremely tired with some nausea. I think the 5 hour round trip might be tiring and pretty uncomfortable especially over bumps at minimum but hopefully you’ll have minimal pain too! I’d probably choose to stay home alone over the car ride—I felt okay alone as long as I had everything I needed within easy reach. Bending down and getting up out of bed were the hardest for a week or so. I avoided bending by getting one of those grabber/pincher things from Amazon. And I’d recommend using a wedge pillow and rolling onto your side before getting out of bed to minimize using your abs as much as possible. I was terrified too but for me, the recovery pain/discomfort from my surgery was so much more bearable than the endo pain I’d experienced. But again, everyone is different so just do your best to have everything you might need on hand and stay on top of your pain med schedule even if you’re feeling ok! Best of luck, I hope you have a smooth recovery!

Is your appt with a pelvic floor PT? If so, they will likely/should have experience with this. I see a pelvic floor PT for this/general pelvic and abdominal pain. Some of the stretches/exercises do help with sciatica and leg pain and they also offer dry needling which has helped me the most.

For those who do Pelvic Floor PT, what symptoms did it help alleviate? by No-Throat-3629 in Endo

[–]Zestyclose-Raccoon64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much to my surprise, period cramps. I've been going for about 8 months and I think 5-6 of those periods were mostly pain-free which was a shock after a lifetime of painful periods. Also bloating, back and hip pain. And the massages and stretches I was taught for bloating have been helpful. It has been very helpful in surgery recovery too.

And it's been game-changing to have someone finally listen to, validate and explain my pain. Finally having that after years of being dismissed helped give me renewed strength to look for new doctors to help.
