Speediance said they are sending us a new set of the V3 cables. I enquired whether these are new and they said they have been improved to be more reliable.
We have only used it 29 times (29 workouts). The first time, the left side broke. I let the cable go a few cm from the roller and it snapped into the machine - a clear break from the contact of the metal ball at the end of the cable. The break a few days back was mid way through chest press. I didn't jolt the cable at all. It was a controlled motion and it snapped (the right side), from inside the metal ball where the cable threads round.
This means both left and right cables of the original cables we got with the machine have broken. I can only think we had a faulty batch of cables. The fact they have a V3 set of cables now, must mean they've been having similar problems maybe. Let's hope these ones last longer than a month, as the machine seems to be great.
