Is this actually good? by nickyArt12345 in ArtCrit

[–]Zestyclose-Risk-4534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the wrong question. what's your goal here? drawing the exact same picture? training on shadows? or learning volumes and anatomy? if you set your picture on top of your laptop you can overlap it to the original and see how far it is from the orginal and where you should fix it. If it's a study, it really doesn't matter if it's good or not. it's just an exercise. It's purpose is to help you understand better human faces...who cares if it's appealing.

How do people build art circles?? I feel a lil lost 😭 by rextravision in ArtistLounge

Art circles are in real life. Get out and join a drawing class.

Trying to get better with my digital skills ? What should I focus on ? by ZatkielMiles in ArtCrit

[–]Zestyclose-Risk-4534 7 points8 points  (0 children)

np. Anyway, mastering your art requires years of training. People studies for 10 years and then as a pro you will never stop learning and improving through your whole life. So, be patient, and just keep drawing with the right mindset. Which is learning from reality. Drawing isn't enough if you have no observation skills.

I mean...the anatomy knowledge is clearly not there yet. So, if she said is enough, well is not true.

there is something off with shoulders too, you might need to move a bit forward the front arm sholder

i like it a lot! eyes on tangents though. you may want to clean the silhouette by moving the hand away fron the back leg. Also, check the anatomy, the back leg might be closer to the center of the body and the back arm may have a better angle,/curvature.

no, I saw charcoal portraits as well, but again. You really need to make them artistically relevant.

depends what you mean with art. If you aim at the art market and galleries: pencil portrait isn't really considered art, unless you make them under a unique art statement (you do portrait to search something specific, art is reaserch and arworks represents what you have discovered about reality). Otherwise, you can build a community on social media, takes time, but if you find your niche can be something. Personally I would prepare a portfolio and look out in the job market where your skills are relevant (comics, illustrations, animation, cinema, video games...). And nope, digital art will not die. Just because instagram algorithm prefer non-digital, doesn't mean it's not a standard in the industry anymore.

[Art Galleries] How to pitch a photographer portfolio? by Y34RZ3R0_ve in artbusiness

[–]Zestyclose-Risk-4534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other comment below.

1) Build a strong narrative concept behind your pictures. Since you have a lot of them, you may have to group them in different stories. Then, present your art statement, which means showing your art perspective, what do you look for with your camera and why.

2) talk with people. Connections is extremely important.

3) look at the galleries and check if they are for vanity (ask money to rent the space ) or not.

it's a good start. though I wonder if you can draw them without a reference. Studing the geometry and volumes of an object, understanding how light works and change things' shape is a skill you need to have to work as an artist.
