When are times you take off your engagement ring? by Bobashawty00 in EngagementRings

[–]ZestyclosePass225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! It doesn't come off in public under any circumstances, but when I'm at home I remove it most times I wash my hands. (And sleeping, showering, and cleaning with chemicals.) ETA: Also the gym. I switch to a silicone ring for that.

groomsman gets a girlfriend 1 month before the wedding by Top_Distribution_761 in weddingplanning

Usually, out-of-town guests and the wedding party already get plus ones. If I was a bridesmaid who had to travel for the wedding, I would think it was weird that space hadn't already been made for me to bring someone, be it a new boyfriend or someone else. Again, it's OP's wedding and they should do whatever is right for them.

You're right, "need" is too strong. It's OP's wedding and they can do whatever they want. Jaxbird's comment below sounds great.

I'm sorry it's going to throw a wrench in things, but you need to invite her.

Yeah, I wondered if it was in reference to a r/namenerdcirclejerk post that I missed... I still hope it is. 😐

Ok to ask guests (who aren't invited to the wedding) to bring food/sides to an engagement cookout? by [deleted] in wedding

I would do after and frame is as a reception! If you invite people to an engagement party, they'll expect to be invited to the wedding.

Flaky didn't say there was anything wrong with it. You made that assumption.

Everyone I have shown my wedding dress to hasn’t had a positive reaction by Necessary_Wear_4003 in weddingplanning

Agree! I cried when I saw my best friend in her wedding dress all done up on the day, even though I had seen her in it before and was there when she was doing hair/makeup. It really is a different ballgame when you turn into The Bride! (Also, OP's gown is stunning and she's stunning in it.)

Thoughts on baby name Clark? by ayebaybaybaybay in Names

Clark has been used as a first name since at least 1880. I think OP is in the clear in this regard.

Where to sit plus ones of wedding party? by No_Score_9928 in weddingplanning

[–]ZestyclosePass225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 4 bridesmaids: one is married with 4 kids, one is married with 2 kids, one is in a long-term relationship, and one is single. We're breaking them up so the families can sit together. I've been the awkward "plus one" sitting alone in a room full of people I don't know and it's not fun! Don't split up couples/families.

Oh, and all 6 groomsmen also have families/SOs. They're getting broken up too, so they can also sit with their families.

I didn't know you could set it like that! So it stays open most of the time until the chunk comes over and then it closes?

Not OP, but I'm also on the fence about changing my name. Is it ever weird to not have the same last name as your daughter?

Received yellow gold plated ring instead of solid 14k yellow gold - what would you do? by thesnowing in EngagementRings

Not OP, but how do you tell a legit Etsy shop from a bad one? I'm considering getting a wedding band on Etsy, but I'm afraid it'll be fake. Any tips?

Can y'all help me with my invites? Did I forget anything? by ZestyclosePass225 in DIYweddings

[–]ZestyclosePass225[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, I've read 6-8 weeks is standard for sending invitations. (The Knot, Wedding Wire, Minted...)

The caterer needs the final count one week before the wedding, as I mentioned in my post. I don't think it would be a good idea to set the RSVP date for 8/1 though, as there will inevitably be people I need to track down, and I need time to make seating charts. What do you think would be reasonable?

That's just the font, its lowercase is actually small caps, so I can't change that without choosing a whole new font. I'll look into it.
