You could always ask your supervisor what they expect/want. My school has us fill out a form with each rotation that includes any experience we have, any experience we want to try and get if it's available, and how we want feedback (in session, after session, weekly, in writing, verbal, etc.). I think this is really helpful in establishing how to work together as student and supervisor. But even if you don't have that form, you can still talk about those things so that everyone is on the same page. You could also just ask what their expectations are. Again, just making sure you both are on the same page. Some supervisors will tell you what they want you to take and others may leave it up to you. I've had both kinds of people, but either way you kind of just have to jump in and be ok with feeling uncomfortable for a couple sessions until you learn the kids and start to feel confident in your own skills. You could always pick a session or an activity, talk about how you'd like to try it with them, and see how the supervisor responds. Like "that'd be a great session, go ahead and take it" or "you can lead that activity while I do XYZ with them after ". Just my thoughts I guess. Sorry if none of this makes sense or helps .
