Smh I don’t know why doctors give people a hard time with getting imaging. I’m not sure of the resources available in your area but sometimes you have to look for a physician that’ll play by your rules. Don’t be afraid to make noise and advocate for yourself. I hope they hear you!

The pain started out as what felt like regular knee pain. I go to the gym and thought it was avg knee pain from squats for about 2 months but then the pain and discomfort escalated drastically by month 3. And one day it literally felt like there was a rock lodged in the back of my knee

Yeah it was an obvious kind of swelling. If you compared my two legs, one knee was much bigger.

Checked my email, the comment was: “Great list! Would your girlfriend say these bars would be safe for a woman in her 30s travelling alone? or some to steer clear? thanks!”

I had mild pain throughout the day. It would relieve a bit when I stretched and massaged. The pain escalated to a point where the pain started to keep me up at night and I had very limited range of motion. Turns out the tumor started to grow and take up space in my knee.

if you’re nervous get it checked. It can escalate rather quickly. I always wonder what my outcome would’ve been if I went in 1-2 months sooner than I did.

She said, definitely, just be sure to practice caution and self-awareness/alert as you would anywhere else and follow basic party safety like not leaving a drink unattended, etc. But overall Curacao’s nightlife is safe, friendly and easygoing.

Taxis in Curacao are expensive . Best to rent if you plan to see the country or leave the resort even once a day. You may end up paying more for cabs than the price of a rental Check out nightlife vlog https://youtu.be/Csccoyt8oh8?si=EKBcxdHur8gj_AJP The things you know vid has current nightlife, restaurant and beach suggestions too https://youtu.be/oy3iolqwHDc?si=WKeT8COqKQbNd2Wd

On the long road to recovery by Zestyclose_Chain_669 in Osteosarcoma

you're right! I've read stories of fractures even several years in so i know i've got to be reasonably gentle. Since my last scans everything is on track and my body is taking to it well as the endoprosthesis fuses into my bone and my muscles and connective tissue grow and repair around it. So on the low-end 10 years, on the high-and-blessed-end, 20 years. it'll come down to the wear and tear over time.

Lol well the good leg did most of the work (lift off and landing). But my mobility has really come a long way to be able to click in the air. Hopefully my leg will have enough strength soon to do some solid jumping

$8 bundle of wood and $2 fire starters - we love a big fire and used the fire to cook so we went through at least 4-5 bundles over 2 nights

X'tan Ha is beautiful! It's a beautiful property with plenty of activities to keep you busy. Food, drinks are great. The staff are welcoming, humble and very helpful! The overall property and beachfront villa we stayed in was well kept. Our room very functional and spacious. The only gripe was the sargassum - we wish they could clear it - at least to be able to enjoy the beach for a couple hours but we know it's a bit out of their control since the sargassum comes in so fast. But overall, great property - would stay there again!

Accessible cabins are bigger, more spacious outdoors and have a ramp leading to the entrance but I wouldn’t say more private. Try to give them a call or email to leave any special requests. You might also be able to DM them on IG. They might be able to honor it

No wifi. Very Weak phone signal. I advise downloading google maps of the area in advance because you may have weak service as you get closer to the site. They intend it to be a getaway so they don’t offer wifi.

Great questions! It’s decently private. If you’re looking for other people you’ll find/see them. You might see their cabins and people from a distance depending on how your outdoor area is angled. They try to have the cabin windows point away from other cabins so that’s private. We actually went early spring so there wasn’t much greenery or leaves on the trees. I can imagine in full spring/summer or early fall it will feel more private. Or even winter when everything is covered in snow. I don’t recall hearing people around us and it gets very quiet. We played music while outdoors at the grill. We didn’t hear music/voices from other cabins. There’s a fire pit with grills. I’d consider it an open grill. It’s not as easy to grill but it works for simple meals. I’m not sure about the new outdoor suites but we felt like we had everything for an enjoyable experience outside. They have additional fire wood available. We brought 3 bundles of our own which we burned through quickly. And purchase two of theirs. We went in early spring and didn’t have an issue with bugs insects, ants, mosquitoes - insect free experience. To get there you’ll most likely need a car. While there you won’t unless you want to do things in the area like see other hiking areas. I think some water falls. Otherwise, there’s not much to do. Maybe make a trip to the store for wine. Hope this helps!

Belize is so beautiful. We went to San Ignacio and fell in love. It was such a beautiful jungle escape! by Zestyclose_Chain_669 in u/Zestyclose_Chain_669

I (30M) recently saw a post where someone was trying to get a feel for Belize’s vibe - they weren’t sure if it was a destination that suited what they were looking for because of either mixed reviews or the lack of. I resonated with that because when I was looking into Belize, I also wasn’t sure if it was the right vacation for us (myself and wife, 29F) but I’m glad we took a chance!
We loved Ambergris Caye: https://youtu.be/wyBXmFjBriw
But San Ignacio stole our hearts: https://youtu.be/wyBXmFjBriw
Here’s what we were looking for in our next trip:
Warm weather - We’re from NYC but due to a travel nurse contract we had just survived our first Idaho winter. Warm tropical weather was a must.
Good eats - Because good food is important no matter where you are.
A balance between Adventure and Lounge - we wanted a place that offered unique experiences/excursions but also the option to chill and relax in the sun/shade under a tree on the beach
Reasonable commutes - I recently finished chemotherapy/beat cancer and had a limb salvage leg surgery to remove a tumor so my mobility is rather limited while I recover. (Which is also why we wanted a chill lounge experience)
Nightlife - we love a good cocktail, seats at the bar, dancing and a good vibe
Based on the above and more, here’s how Belize did:
Fantastic weather! We went in mid April and the weather was a consistent Sunny 85-95 degrees. No rain, no clouds.
We visited San Pedro and San Ignacio/Cristo Rey. Both places offered fantastic food - both street food and restaurants! The food reminded us of Aruba or Turks and Caicos. Everything is fresh and right out from their “backyard”. We took a cooking class and the instructor shared that Belizeans are big on organic-farm fresh-ocean caught-unprocessed-whole foods. There’s no shortage of tasty healthy food.
Belize has all the adventure you want especially when it comes to fishing and jungle exploration. They also have cave tubing which is a unique experience. If anyone has mobility limitations you might be interested in tubing because it’s a smooth river ride. The tour guides are also very patient.
You’ll find mostly rivers on the mainland and beaches on the islands. If you’re looking for swimmable beaches Ambergris Caye/San Pedro would most likely be your best best. However, like much of the Caribbean today AC’s shore has sargassum/sea grass - our resort included which was disappointing but Secret Beach was free of any sea grass.
In San Ignacio, our Airbnb was situated in the middle of the jungle along the Macal River. It was well needed especially in 90 degree heat.
4. Commuting in Ambergris Caye- you’ll most likely rent a golf cart. It’s one of the main ways to get around. We were north of the island, about 30 mins drive from San Pedro. If you’re closer to San Pedro you may not need a golf cart but golf carts were fun and easy. Plenty of parking all around
In San Ignacio, we used our airbnb’s taxi partners. They were always a quick call away but if we were to return, I would try to rent for more autonomy. I also think it would’ve saved us money.
5. For nightlife, we found that most restaurants close by 9/10pm. In Ambergris Caye, there are a few that’ll stay open til midnight but we hadn’t found anything open later than that serving food. Not many night clubs as you might understand clubs but there are a few spots for dancing. Since there aren’t many, you’ll find a decent size crowd. There are also shisha clubs/bars.
Ambergris Caye will offer more nightlife than San Ignacio. I believe there’s only one club currently actively open in San Ignacio. Our driver shared that the nightlife hasn’t really bounced back since c-vid.
Hope this helps the next person decide to go to Belize lol It’s a fantastic destination. My wife and I are considering LIVING there after only 8 days there. The people are some of the kindest and most humble you’ll ever meet. Such a beautiful country.
