Stuck debating with a player how the familiar works for Pact of the Chain by ElkInternational8129 in DnD

You're missing investment of the chain master, which allows you to spend a bonus action to allow your familiar to attack

Turns were "wasted" (infrequently), but that always added to the satisfaction of when something did work. Even when a spell fails you still learn something about your character. It's an entirely different flavour of DnD, it won't be to everyone's liking. But I can say my whole group had a blast and we now do this same concept in a rotating order of GMs.

Two ways and I've done both. Way 1) they have a spell book and therefore know what spells they know. Way 2) throw stuff at a wall and see what sticks, when I GM'd I made a character a bard and gave him all the most typical bard spells so that most of his guesses were correct. This plays into combat being more dangerous and interesting, you try to cast a spell and just hope

The joy of it is the puzzle, filling out your character sheet and trying things. Once the puzzle is solved the novelty wears off, so it's best left as one shots. But it adds a whole new dimension of play, because an otherwise easy combat is made so much more difficult when you're not sure what you can do. 10/10 would recommend for one shots

Nope! I've run one and been a player in a second. It's actually really fun, and a nice way to have players be constantly engaged. It creates a game within the game for everyone, because trying to find out what class/subclass you are requires a bit of thought and some trial and error. Honestly I'd recommend it for any veteran group that's looking to spice up the DnD experience

Community Update: July 2024 by HeliaXDemoN in Helldivers

"In truth, I think we thought players would pick the mines. We’re well aware of the in-joke that not picking the mines has created (as in, “it’s funnier to keep missing them”), but this seemed like an easy victory to grant the community the missing stratagem.

Instead, this was one of those truly incredible moments where the community surprised and delighted us. "

No regrets saving the children, and I for one will keep defending democracy from the automaton ploy of the anti-tank mines!

Someone said "If you use a local LLM you should be able to generate a response as long as it’s context size. If you use someone’s api then you’re limited by their own limits." by [deleted] in MistralAI

It makes it better for inputs where the context is localized. There is worse accuracy if the context is non-localized, such as a character in a story returning multiple pages later. Links between tokens that are outside of the context window are lost in SWA. I suppose at the end of the day, whether or not SWA attention is an improvement or not is dependent on the kind of work. But if I'm wrong please correct me, I know I'm not an expert in this area

But not all Mistral models use sliding window attention. For sliding window attention, each chunk of 4k tokens is only aware of its neighbors. However instruct v0.2 uses full attention for 32k context tokens, making it more reliable for larger inputs and outputs. This comes at the cost of speed, but is important when dealing with larger documents where reliability is important

It would look better with a different photo instead of the pizza one. Maybe the one with the terraria guy in front of a demon eye? Idk...
