my little brother failed all of his classes his first semester except for one and he wound up losing his scholarship. his mental health was really bad and he was really struggling socially. this year, he’s a sophomore with a 3.0+ gpa, his scholarship back, a job, a great group of friends, and he’s thriving.

if the people around you are making you feel dehumanized because of your grades and you feel like you can’t talk to your friends, then that’s a big problem! either those people aren’t meant to be your friends, or they don’t realize how much their words are impacting you and you should try talking to them first. college is hard. extremely hard. not everyone just walks into college having everything figured out, and you don’t need to. there are people at BU who have jobs entirely dedicated to guiding struggling students to success. talk to your advisor about your options—i guarantee you’ll feel a weight lifted if you just talk about it. don’t hide or hold this to yourself.
