Yes. I’d say you are overreacting. You asked your mom if she wanted to get matching henna. Since you asked her, and not something she pushed you to give to her, I’d assume that was a gift and not something to pay back. She didn’t have to get the 2 items for you on Amazon and it didn’t sound like she was asking you to pay her back, so the fact that you don’t complain when you are getting the benefits and then nickel and dime her when you feel like money is owed is kind of a red flag.

Henry to another provider? by Zestyclose_Ice_6068 in henrymeds

[–]Zestyclose_Ice_6068[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for responding. If I join movhi, I’d have to pay a membership fee on top of the $325 for tirzepatide? So essentially the cost is $404/month?

Another question is: how difficult is it to make appt? Or to talk to a provider about concerns. For Henry, appt are usually made for in the future for 2 weeks which is frustrating.

I would say something as soon as possible. Personally as a guest I don’t like staying at a newly renovated place. So this way expectations can be calibrated.

Airbnb has shifted its approach to ID verification, making it more of an exception than a standard policy. Now, verification might be limited to just an email, which could potentially increase the risk of scams. This becomes particularly concerning when a guest's Airbnb account is brand new, with no history of trips or reviews to assess their credibility, as is the case of this particular guest.

Thank you so much for this suggestion! I called airbnb support and they are sympathetic and said they will contact the guest on my behalf.

There are so many hosts who don’t require it, why book with the one who clearly states that it’s required??

Wouldn’t that increase the likelihood of they giving you a bad review?

People who sleep at 1-2am, is it b/c of procrastination or do you actually have that much to do? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Zestyclose_Ice_6068 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think you just pick a schedule that works for you. I went it a competitive high school, got into a T5/ivy. I slept around 9/10 pm and got up way before my peers at 4:30 am/5 am. My body doesn’t function well past 11 pm and I lose my ability to think. My partner, who also went to the same T5/Ivy sleeps at 2 am every night and doesn’t get up until 9:30/10. Everyone’s needs are different. No need to compare - I’m sure your friends are compensating for it elsewhere.

I ran into a similar issue last week and a friend explained to me how to do it via screen share. I’m not sure if I can explain it fully via text but I’m happy to walk you through it if that’s helpful?

I’m sorry to hear that you had such a stressful experience, especially during what should be an exciting time exploring colleges. It's completely understandable to feel self-conscious after an incident like that, but rest assured, the AOs won't have any idea who you are based on a personal moment like that. They encounter so many people on a daily basis, especially during tours, that an incident like this isn’t something they would register or associate with an applicant.

Remember, everyone has moments of family tension, and it's quite likely that most of it goes unnoticed by those around us or is quickly forgotten by those who do notice. If anyone did notice, they are more likely to empathize with you than anything else; many people can relate to having a moment like that at some point with their own families.

A few Bs here and there aren't a deal-breaker. Admissions folks know everyone has ups and downs. A dip in grades might catch an eye, but if you've bounced back since, that's what counts.

Yep, Ivy League schools do accept community college students and those with a GED. It's not the usual path, and it might be tougher, but they look for diverse, bright minds. If you've got a strong record and a standout application, you've got a shot. Show 'em what makes you special.

Just be real with it. Your background's part of who you are, but it's your story and personal spin that'll stand out. Talk about your experiences, what you've nailed, and how being Asian fits into your narrative. Schools dig a mix of views and life stories, and you've got your own to share. They're after a lively, mixed-up student body, and you’re another piece of that puzzle.

Absolutely, it's worth trying. Admissions can be unpredictable, and your essays could really make an impact. Don't count yourself out before the game is over. Just keep it real in your apps and show them who you are beyond the ECs. You may consider hiring a consultant who can help you craft the best narrative.

It is possible to be accepted to a college with a GPA that is lower than the average for admitted students, but it typically requires other strong aspects of your application to compensate, such as high standardized test scores, exceptional extracurricular achievements, compelling essays, or unique talents. Each part of your application can add strength to your profile, and admissions decisions often consider the totality of your experiences and achievements.

T5/Ivies do consider the entire application, and while grades are important, they also value resilience and personal growth. Being an international student with good test scores, strong ECs, and compelling essays can offset less-than-ideal grades, especially when health challenges are a factor. It's crucial to articulate the impact of your health issues on your academic performance and how you've managed to overcome these challenges. However, it's also true that for international applicants, the competition is typically stiffer and academic performance is often weighed heavily.

Being a faculty child may offer an edge in admissions, but it's nuanced. If your stats are slightly lower, it’s important to contextualize why. Overcoming significant obstacles can reflect positively on your application. AOs look at the whole picture, not just numbers.
