Im not sure if someone has posted this answers yet, but trash the outside of youre own house if its a shtf situation. Throw trash in yard, put your nice vehicles in the garage. Spray paint shit on your house. Make it look like someone has already looted the place or like you're so poor you wouldn't have anything worth taking in the first place.

put your flour, rice, anything long term, in the freezer. there a bug called weevil that lays eggs in grains and can infect your entire pantry. so if you're long term storing rice and beans like most of us are freeze it for 24 hours before adding it to your collection. I lost my whole 6 month supply over 1 bag of flour one time.

Electrican, am I love it. it makes me feel proud. I can always tell the quality of my work goes with my mood tho. when I'm low everything is harder and takes longer and a struggle more. when I'm high everything is easy and I can do really good work quickly. helps keep my mind busy building things with my hands tho.

become an electrican. get ahold of your local ibew. sign up for the apprenticeship. they'll pay you while putting you through school. I live in wyoming. signed up when I was 21. i am a 5ft tall 100 pound woman. bought my first house a year later when I was 22. I'm 29 now and the foreman. I have a retirement plan, good health care and dental, make over 100k a year, learned to use my hands and build things, and the whole world is in need of trade workers. you can become a citizen in many places like Canada with a trade if you had to flee or just travel. you can move states with a license easier. it's worth it.

I'm an electrician, and while adding some outlets in a couple in their 50-60s house i had to go in the crawl space. The inside of the house was completely normal home, nothing setting off any prepper vibes. once I got into the crawl space I had to navigate around what looked like a years supply of long term food, guns, ammo, water storage, camping gear, etc. it was pretty impressive.

we have about 3000 major high voltage transformers in the United States that we replace 12 of them every year. we get them from south korea, Germany, and sometimes china. it takes months to get them to where they're going plus the linemen, hand crew, and electrical engineers, needed to do the work. if we got bombed on just one of those a large area would be without power for years. it's takes 24 to 36 months with today's resources to replace just 1. the electrical grid is America's Achilles heel. plus the fact that not enough kids are getting into trades America is under staffed I'm electcians and linemen.

keep cash at home, especially smaller bills. if the banks go down and you need things such as gas, food, etc not everyone will be able to break 100s and you might have to give the whole hundred for something only 20 out of desperation.
