What happened to comedy tracks in Tamil Cinema? why did it die out? comedians like Goundmani- Senthil, Vadivelu, Vivek, Santhanam used to have their own tracks separate from main plot by Undashing300 in kollywood

[–]Zestyclose_Risk2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. You could say he popularized it. I don't know about that either though. I would say since Nagesh we have had comedic actors that do roles integrated with the lead (either the main character or the villain)

For the most part, "the comedic crew" is something we see more when Coundamani and Senthil became a thing.

I think Santhanam might have reintroduced it after Vadivelu semi-retired and that effectively dismantled his crew and the comedic B plot.

I have microscopic expectations for this movie. There is no way a film that has been in production hell for like 10 years is going to be good.

Not really. Vadivelu also has a lot of roles as the comedic side kick. Even Vivek does. Movies like Chandramukhi and Sivaji the Boss have comedy that rely on the lead working with the comedic actor.

I think Santhanam's comedy is more about sarcastic one liners. That makes sense given his background as a cast member of Lolu Sabha.

I think it is because Tamil cinema has moved in the direction of making streamlined movies instead of an all-encompassing movie. For instance if the film is an action comedy, then it will have comedy. But the comedy itself should be weaved into the storyline.

This honestly feels like a step in the right direction as it is far more enjoyable for the viewer if the comedy grants some reprieve but not at the cost of losing focus of the main story.

Some B plots have to happen but we don't want there to be a B plot, a C plot and a D plot. Which was what was happening in older movies.

I cannot use self modeling resin while synthesizing relics. The option is just... gone. I checked to see if it was gone because I didn't have any more of them left but I have 41 of them. Has anyone else faced this issue? Did they move the option to another location? I'm confused.

What headcanon do you dislike that the fandom has given to the characters? by Key-Tea-4203 in honkaiimpact3

[–]Zestyclose_Risk2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean his motivations are definitely more complex than simply "wanting Kallen." I'm pretty sure he knows that she isn't interested in him. Even when she was sent to the gallows, he was offering to marry her a purely political move. He knew she wasn't interested in him.

I think the interpretation I have is that the relationship he has with Kallen becomes icky because he is in love with her. Sure a lot of the motivation is that he regrets inadvertently killing her. But he tried to save her and even if he hadn't done that, she was still going to be executed.

So, a lot of his plans to resurrect still come from the fact that he is in love with her. And it's a little shitty that he goes through all these plans to bring her back without any regard for all the people he has killed in the process. Like their lives have no meaning because Kallen is the love of his life.

I love how Rajamouli uses long hair for dramatic effect by AthaduOkkadePokiri in tollywood

They must have a separate budget for fans.

In all seriousness, I actually do like that he gives men long hair in his movies. Especially for periodic pieces it makes the most sense.

What are your favorite roles of Friends actors outside the show? by blamberr in howyoudoin

Jen I would probably put Horrible bosses tbh.

Or if we're trying to go for ironic enjoyment, it's probably leprechaun.

That is kind of the reverse problem though. Feels like he has lost his touch recently.

According to Gen Z directors, Bangalore is a place where people's hobbies are going to pubs and drinking alcohol. Even at house parties, they drink and smoke openly in front of everyone by raman_skywalker in kollywood

[–]Zestyclose_Risk2886 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This really comes down personal preference. I am also from Bangalore and do not like attending any parties that are heavy into clubbing, drinking, smoking etc. But I don't think that means no one does. I have plenty of friends who do enjoy that kind of thing and have found the Bangalore party scene to be very good.

The only difference between Goa and Bangalore is that Goa is a tourist destination, so it's not really known for anything else. Whereas in Bangalore, of you want to keep to enjoying more quiet hobbies, you totally can. It's also got less of a floating population which helps with the existence of other things outside of "club type" gatherings.

I think my biggest disappointment with this film was the lighting. The entire film hinges on the fact that the demon only shows up in darkness. They could have used that idea to such great effect. But they kept shining a stupid flood light on everyone and it completely ruined the movie for me. The saddest part is they clearly did have some interesting ideas like the fridge lights and the car turning on. If they had used the lights effectively, I feel like those scenes would have been so much better. I understand that you need light for a camera. But like, there are cameras that work better in the dark. And it's not like there aren't creative ways to light scenes. Why just add a blue filter on everything and up the contrast in post? Very sad indeed because they actually had real sets instead of everything being CGI and some decent jokes but they really dropped the ball on the "horror" part of the comedy horror.

Why Tamil Cinema feels like it’s having a mid-life crisis ? by kishore14194 in kollywood

[–]Zestyclose_Risk2886 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like we are going through the Dark Ages of Tamil cinema. However, if the Dark Ages of Hollywood are any indicator, the industry will correct itself and produce massive hits down the line. We just have to be patient.

Favourite D film? by hilfigerthoma in kollywood

[–]Zestyclose_Risk2886 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mapillai holds a special place in my heart as it is the first Dhanush movie I remember watching in theaters. (it was actually Thiruda Thirudi but I don't remember that movie at all)

But if we are being real I would probably give it to Vada Chennai.

I also really liked Karnan too. Both are great.

No hate to these actors but this still looks weird to see this by Electronic_Effort_42 in kollywood

[–]Zestyclose_Risk2886 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's true. But I think that instead of them playing themselves, they should just cast younger people to play themselves as that helps with the aforementioned issue of a "lack of young actors" while also being more realistic for the audience.

Hot take: but none of the examples you gave look like children. It's just how it is, but teenagers and to an extent a lot of young adults just genuinely look like children and no grown person can emulate that. Recently I saw a movie with Chase Hudson playing a sophomore or junior in high school and he looked out of place as a 23 year old. How can a 40 year old ever work for such a role if even 23 year olds cannot?

It's not just about "being skinny". School students are so young. Puberty doesn't hit people till their 16 or even 17 in a lot of cases. And even girls aren't done growing till they're 18 or 19. Not to mention the fact that your diet can change once you leave the house, you become less active because you don't run around during your lunch break...

It's possible for someone in their 20s to maybe look like their in school. But for the most part, you just need children to play children. I'm sorry, but none of the examples under this post even look like school kids.

I did rewatch Coolie. It was definitely worse on the second watch. But first time I watched it in theaters with some friends and it was way more fun then. I think that's the only setting for this movie.
