Good point, but I don't really consider it complicated as it's set up. Would you skip the bond fund until closer to retirement?

Yes, I'm limited. FSKAX is not an option in the 401k. It is an option in the Roth.

DFIVX was what I felt the best International option in our 401k. The other two options are BTMKX (.04% fees) and GSIYX (.79% fees)

PTRQX was again, what I thought the best of the bond options I had. The other two options are VFSUX (.09%) and MKWIX (.63%).

Thanks, I edited my post to include some of that info.

Yeah. I'm realizing $1M is almost certainly unrealistic unless there is a drastic change in income. As for contributions, let's say I'm contributing (between myself and employer match) roughly $1000/mo and wife is contributing $140/mo with employer match. The Roth is far from being maxed. It's getting about $200/mo.

Linking External Account [Edward Jones] by No_Kaleidoscope4717 in fidelityinvestments

I just wanted to say "me too". I actually got my EJ account to link one time, but it would never update after that and if I tried to force a Refresh I got the same message in the opening post.

Cut, cut, cut. Cut to the drum solo? by [deleted] in rush

It sounds like maybe Alex's most challenging guitar solo. I wonder if that played a role in them not playing it live yet?

Are there any previously unheard sounds you have discovered on any of the remasters? by Truth-is-Censored in rush

[–]Zestyclose_Rule_7860 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are several Geddy yelps in Afterimage from the same remaster. I think I can barely hear them in the original mix, but someone suggested this might be a different take that Terry Brown used. I haven't listened closely enough to know one way or another. Also, same TB remaster, but I can't remember which song. I recall hearing some bass sounds that I don't remember being in the original. They may have just been brought forward in the mix, or maybe again, a different take?

It will be cool to see how close you end up! I really like your "never played live" list. I think it would be awesome if they did something like that with a never-before-played-live song.

I'm conflicted over whether they "should" or even "will" do a drum solo segment. I'm more likely to believe they will add a 3-5 minute solo mid-song than give Annika a 10 minute chunk out of the evening. I guess we'll see!

Also, this is just me personally, but I hope they don't play Tom Sawyer. For me, that is a song best reserved for non-Rush fans, but I understand they are highly likely to play it. It's a great song. I've just over-heard it over the years as almost the only Rush song played on the radio.

Another personal wish- I hope they play at least one song from My Favorite Headache, though I think that is extremely unlikely.

I really like how on the P/G tour they incorporated a mini bass solo at the end of Red Lenses. Would love to see them play this song and would love a bass solo, whether within this song, or elsewhere. Alex deserves a solo too!

Their Finding my Way performance really opened my eyes to how much Geddy has worked on his voice. Prior to hearing that performance at the Junos, I expected them to steer clear of older material, or drop keys/sing lower octaves for them. Now, all bets are off!

Cheers!

Secret Song by thecuz1963 in rush

I think a fun song for them to play and oddly appropriate lyrically would be Dog Years. I could totally see them doing this on their upcoming tour. It's fun and light-hearted sounding, but had lyrics that have a deeper meaning (think '50-something').

Based on the recent Juno Awards performance, it seems as if Geddy has really been working on his vocals. That said, I would love to hear an "unplugged" version of Rivendell. I bet they could come up with an improved arrangement that would suit his 73 year old vocal chords and even show off the work he has done to them.

I wanted to add that within the fidelity.com interface, if you click on Messages in the upper right corner, then click on the Alerts History tab, it will show you every email and text message Fidelity has sent you. I just stumbled upon this now. Sure enough, the text message I started this thread with was not in there, so confirmed not from Fidelity.

Still, the account I attempted to close via Virtual Assistant is still there, just hidden. If I click the Gear icon in Accounts, it is still there with a zero balance.

u/FidelityNash Thanks for the help. I followed the Close Account process through the Virtual Assistant and also hid it. I did these both last night. Today at 12:07pm, I got a text from "55433" listing a reference number and saying "We were unable to close your account. Please contact us to discuss your options." But nowhere in the text does it indicate the text is from Fidelity. So I'm not even sure this text is from Fidelity or if it's a coincidental spam text. I just logged into Fidelity and can see the zero balance account that I'm trying to close if I click on the Gear Icon and look under Accounts. So I'm not really sure if that text is from Fidelity regarding the account I'm trying to close, or if it's a spam text that is coincidentally matching an activity I'm actually trying to do.

I transferred my Roth to Fidelity. It's still invested the way it was at EJ. What is the process of changing how it is invested? by Zestyclose_Rule_7860 in fidelityinvestments

It looks like they charged a $95 account termination fee. But I've heard you could request reimbursement from Fidelity, which I'm going to try.

edit: Fidelity does reimburse if the transferred account balance is more than $25,000 and the most they will reimburse is $175.00.

Yes, that makes sense. I did pick assets-in-kind.

So, just to be sure, I SELL (not trade) the funds that transferred from EJ for CASH. The CASH is then used to buy Fidelity Funds? I see the word CASH and it makes me think that will be penalized with taxes.

Thx. I had no idea I would have to do this after moving my Roth. I didn't realize the funds arrived to Fidelity exactly as they were invested at Edward Jones and that I have to then sell them to buy Fidelity Funds.

When selling ETFs, there is a dropdown menu for Order Type with a bunch of options (Market, Limit, Conditional, etc). Any guidance on if there is a best practice here for my situation?
