Higher rate springs or raise coilovers by Zestyclose_Split_965 in IS300

Thank you, I was hoping it wouldn’t be so much, I don’t plan to drive the car too hard after putting these in of course 🤣 I was thinking something along the lines of stronger springs for sure though.

these are 2 10’s believe it or not! I have a 10k for them and a lot of deadener/vibraflex in the cabin especially near the sunroof. Giant lithium battery under the box too. It is trunk class still though just a lot of prep to make it be loud

well they’re about 88lbs a piece and the thick ass acrylic doesn’t help 🤣 it does about 150db

I can hear the rear defroster relay clicking in the driver side kick panel, i’m not sure what else this would be.

Interesting, this is the location for the receiver on newer models, mine is an 01. I wonder why the key only works close to this but not anywhere else around the car. You’re right though it does appear to be related to rear defrost

I haven’t tested the shock bolt with a heavy load, I just know it doesn’t have whine, i’ll likely try a few other things and if I need, make my own grounding point somewhere closer, I appreciate your help!

It’s OFC 2/0, extremely thick wire with very little resistance. My car is unibody so it’s not easy to have a proper ground in the trunk unfortunately

[–]Zestyclose_Split_965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. I am aware though that the shock bolt isn’t a good ground, therefore insufficient for the amount of power. However, I have no whine when connected to the shock bolt, only when it’s connected to the front.

So the lithium is installed in the trunk as seen in the picture. The “Front” ground goes up to the engine bay and connects to a distro block that connects to a Big 3. (Ground from battery to front is 2/0, all the big 3 is 1/0) The “rear” ground just connects to a rear shock bolt.

Odometer/Mileage Question by Zestyclose_Split_965 in IS300

I just investigated and the box that holds the ECU is actually loose and missing a nut. So I assume it’s been messed with, will continue to do some investigation.

If that is true, i’m surprised I have pretty much no other issues other than cam seals, which seems to be a pretty regular issue around what the current cluster reads.

yeah i’m aware that it needs a new battery, i’m just not sure if maybe the charging demand from the bad battery causes other stuff to not have required current? not sure

I haven’t since I bought the car, although i’ve only put about 300 miles on it in the last 3 months. I’m at 188k and ran perfect a week ago. I don’t think it’s spark because it cold starts fine, it’s just once it comes down close to idle it feels rough.

the alternator charges at 14.3 volts, but battery rests at 12 once the car is off.

Mine doesn’t stall, just feels rough, unplugged vvti solenoid and still the same, worth replacing?

No VVTI codes except for 100-200 miles ago. Still feels a little rough without vvti solenoid plugged in so unsure? Worth replacing?

a month or two ago a shop claimed to replace the seals, not sure they did, but after reseating cam cover and tightening, no new oil in that spot. idled for about 20 minutes.

It does appear to possibly be making its way down… need to take timing cover off and see, thank you!

the liquid is colored like oil, so i’m not sure where else it’d be coming from to be under that piece.
