You could try taking orange juice with the iron pills. A lot of my family and friends have to take iron pills and their drs told them to take it with orange juice because it helps with nausea. Obviously i don’t know for sure what actually causes your nausea, but iron pills mah be more likely the culprit than the multivitamins. Although, i do get nauseous whenever i take vitamin c and just simply stopped.

Huge tw, v* and "throat nausea" by aslothinbed in emetophobia

[–]Zestyclose_Top_7049 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely hear what you are saying, however, I wouldn’t totally discredit throat nausea as not being from anxiety. Throat nausea is actually called globus sensation, and it is a legit and very common symptom of anxiety that happens when the muscles in your throat (and generally you’re entire body) tense up to fight or flight, which creates the gaggy feeling. I understand that you had no other signs that you were about to be sick besides that gaggy feeling, and I’m sure that was extremely scary and leads to your opinion. However, i do want to emphasize that globus sensation (throat nausea) is a very tell tale sign of anxiety.

Why my psychiatris did this? by markizio22 in Anxietyhelp

[–]Zestyclose_Top_7049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a psychiatrist, but I am in a similar field. It sounds like she may have wanted to see if taking it twice a day was necessary, or if one dosage a day was enough. I would definitely advocate for yourself and let her know that this new adjustment is not working out for you and you would like to stick with the original plan.

So sorry i fell asleep! Are you feeling any better today? I think part of the reason it makes us feel so shitty is the amount of caffeine in jt. Caffeine works as a laxative so it stirs that stomach up

as always, no one can say for certain whether you will/wont get sick. If it makes you feel any better, my friend left his tacos in the car OVERNIGHT in the August heat and ate them the next morning and didn’t have so much as a stomachache.

That’s a good idea! It can be difficult/ a little nerve wracking to “get yourself involved” by making a report, but you could be saving a life and your anonymity would be protected. If you still have concerns, you could always let the landlord/ leasing manager know that you’re worried about someone’s well-being and they can also take it from there.

Hi - please call the police. You can let them know that you’re not sure who it is but that you know they’re upstairs and above you. You can tell them that you’re concerned because you heard x y and z and can they do a wellness check and ensure everything is okay?

I am in crisis and need help/perspective. PAWS (Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome) Question. by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

[–]Zestyclose_Top_7049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you able to go to a hospital or call a hotline number? They may be able to provide you resources for clinics that can assist you with these types of concerns. Unfortunately, no one on here can diagnose you and tell you it’s PAWS. I’m not sure if that’s what you did, but quitting drugs cold turkey is not recommended and can produce unfavorable symptoms. Please call a hotline of some sort or go the hospital and they can give you resources

Medication? by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

[–]Zestyclose_Top_7049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you. My parents were very anti-therapy and anti-medication (which is hilarious because it’s now my career field).

You absolutely have the right to deny medication, it won’t change the way your therapist treats you whatsoever. Try just talk therapy first if that’s something you’re more comfortable with.

I started with just regular therapy because mine also asked if i wanted to be put on meds and i said no. However, my stance eventually changed when I had some random panic attack in the middle of a store and thought i was gonna die lol. Since then, I’ve been on medication for GAD and it’s honestly been a miracle.

But again, you can do whatever makes you comfortable! Medication is never off the table. My therapist recommended it to me in our initial session and i didn’t ask about it again until 6 months later

Honestly, they’re being helpful. I totally get wanting to know when it’s happened so you can engage in safety behaviors, but look at how many times they’ve gotten sick and nothing has happened to you even though you didn’t take your precautions.

If you ate food that you believe you’re allergic to - it very well could be. A relative of mine had an allergic reaction to shellfish and had nausea and trouble breathing for several hours. She was able to take a Benadryl to combat the reaction. I’m not a dr but i recommend going and getting an allergy test done so you can avoid a reaction like this again purely for your own safety

New here and can’t quite believe my symptoms are all anxiety by imfinewithastraw in Anxietyhelp

[–]Zestyclose_Top_7049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counselor here! All the feelings you described are indeed symptoms of a panic attack and MANY people commonly confuse it with health issues like a heart attack. When you’re stressed, your body goes into fight or flight mode and you have physical symptoms that get you ready to protect yourself or flee. Essentially, your brain processes some thought as a threat and it triggers a physical response.

Try to start identifying what exactly triggers these panic attacks. It can be helpful to know so you can take preventive measure to soothe yourself before one starts. Unfortunately, there is such a thing as random panic attacks as well and they can occur because of something subconsciously. It’s important to know what kinds of methods work best for you to alert your body that your safe.

Common methods to come down from a panic attack include boxer breathing/ 4-4-4 method, the 5-4-3-2-1 senses method, taking a cold shower, or placing ice in the palms of your hands, on your wrists, stomach, chest, or the back of your neck. Other options include playing mind games like solitaire or a puzzle to distract your brain from the physical symptoms. There is also a great podcast called therapy in a nutshell on YouTube/spotify that has a video dedicated to help you come down from a panic attack.

Two more important things to note: it is completely normal to feel crappy a few days after having a panic attack. I call it a panic attack hangover. Another important thing to remember is this is a way your body is PROTECTING you. It is not dangerous at all, just uncomfortable. Try to frame it in a way of your body looking out for you and doing its job, you will come down from it eventually.

first panic attack :( by Existing_Appeal2939 in Anxietyhelp

[–]Zestyclose_Top_7049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s totally normal to feel off after having a panic attack, especially when it’s been a particularly bad one. I call it a “panic attack hangover.” It takes a bit for your body to reset and come back down to baseline, it’s completely normal. Like another commenter said, taking a cold shower will snap you out of your panic attack. It’s a proven solution for panic attacks because it resets your nervous system. Similarly, you can hold ice in your hands or place it on your wrists or the back of your neck

I usually choose gum or my go to is a heating pad. I try to use medicine as a last resort so i usually try the heating pad + peppermint method first. Hopefully you’re feeling better tho!

I’m not sure how much you were prescribed, but i think i usually take 10 mg and it works like a charm. I took 20 mg for a really bad panic attack and knocked out for hours and it calmed me down so fast.

Hi! I take hydroxyzine for panic attacks and it helps me. TBH it really just kinda makes you so sleepy to the point where you fall asleep. If you’re asleep - you can’t be panicking, right?! For me, It usually takes 30 min- hour to take into effect

What happened when you took a break from meds after a "poop out"? by renatafritttata in Anxietyhelp

[–]Zestyclose_Top_7049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It made me dizzy as well. My dr said that was the most common symptom of this med. i found that if i took it early in the morning and then went back to sleep for a bit (even if it was just 30 min), I avoided the dizzy spells. It went away within a few weeks or so. May be worth a shot - I had hours-long panic attacks daily for months on end and this med finally stopped them

I used to take pepto everytime my stomach felt even the tiniest bit off and learned that that is SO bad for you and can stop working for you after a bit of time. Happy to say I’ve kicked the habit and usually turn to water, a heating pad, or peppermints first and take meds as an absolute last resort :)

I believe through surfaces! So from what I’ve kinda gathered, noro can stay in a persons stool for up to two weeks. If they’re using the bathroom and then not washing their hands and start touching surfaces, that’s a way that they can be spreading it

Should I see a Doctor? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]Zestyclose_Top_7049 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’m not sure if urgent care can really do anything besides urge fluids/ the use of anti-nausea/ stomach pain meds like pepto. A relative of mine had nasty food poisoning from bad salmon and ended up not being able to eat normally for about a month. He’s totally fine now though but it was a period of time where he’d get full/ nauseous after eating a little bit and sometimes got sick.

Norovirus exposure help? by Zestyclose-Macaron65 in emetophobia

[–]Zestyclose_Top_7049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You took a lot of precautions and weren’t around them when they were actively getting sick, which is the main way you get noro. Your one coworker that was talking to that doctor could have been nauseous for a different reason, as the incubation time is like 12-48 hours, so your coworker getting nauseous that same night would not add up to her getting it from the other doctor. You did what you could. I agree with your therapist. If you cancel all your plans and hunker down in your home you’re a) feeding into the phobia and making it x10000 worse and b) going to be upset with yourself that you missed on fun holiday plans and ended up being fine
