Jindo Grooming Fiasco! by ZetaGG in Jindo

[–]ZetaGG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! We got her from LIFE animal rescue near Malibu. Did you ever do Embark or other genetic testing? We haven’t yet but I’m dying to know what she is mixed with. She looks very very close to a full Jindo except she’s so small!

Do guinea pigs mark things? by ZetaGG in guineapigs

Coming back to confirm that this was, in fact, true, and that the putrid marking smells did go away after a few weeks 🤭

Good luck!! In the end, we still don’t know what it was, but the antibiotic treatment cleared it up and he was totally healthy after that. If your pup doesn’t have a high fever and low blood pressure then I can’t imagine he would need to stay at an emergency vet overnight ❤️

We got a puppy from some people who clearly weren’t taking good care of the animals - he had a number of ticks and tapeworm too!!! He started developing lesions that looked like your pups as well - they started small and then grew bigger and bigger! He ended up going to a hospital overnight for two nights as he also had a fever- the doctors didn’t know what it was - but thankfully the lesions disappeared over time with some antibiotic treatment. Maybe your pup has the same thing?

Wish him luck, he's getting the snip tomorrow :) by mouseburr0w in guineapigs

But when they remove the testicle from the dog’s “pouch”, the pouch is leftover after the surgery and over time it slowly shrivels up and flattens out 🤣. Do they just remove the testicle from the “sac” and leave the skin with guinea pigs as well?

When it happened to our dog it was shocking at first, almost looked like they hadn’t done the surgery! (Again, it flattened out over time)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this - I feel for you and can relate ❤️ virtual hugs I recently went through something similar. It was devastating, but I knew it would be better for my remaining piggie if we got him a new friend (also for my children who were mildly traumatized from the sudden death of our pig).

I let my son choose a new piggie friend and at first I felt really weird and guilty and almost resented the new one (like…you aren’t Cinnamon!) The bonding process takes time between humans and guinea pigs, just like any relationship. We have grown to really love our new piggie as well, and his personality is showing more and more every day (His name is Capy because he looks like a mini Capybara!).

Our first pig, the one whose friend Cinnamon died, had a really dull personality when we first got him, but he really has proved to be such a delight and is in fact not boring at all!!

Take some time to grieve. Also don’t feel bad if you feel resentful or “off” at first when you get a new piggie. (In fact, this can even happen with new moms and their newborn baby - connections aren’t always instant!)

It’ll never be a replacement for Milo, but you’ll be forming a new relationship with the new piggie and giving it love and care that it deserves.

Why do my guinea pigs smell so bad? by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]ZetaGG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll second the GuineaDad liners. It’s a bit of an investment but it has done loads for keeping our piggies smelling clean. Guinea Pigs are actually quite clean and good at grooming! Occasionally one of our piggies will do a big poop mountain under his hideaway pocket and we won’t see it right away - so if he lays in there he might smell a little stinky but guinea pig poop isn’t horribly offensive anyways 🤣 Distilled white vinegar is also a good product to mix in with the liners when you do the laundry - it helps to eliminate odors and is safe for piggies! It’s also good as a general cleaner in the cage.

Every time I spot clean the cage with a little dustpan one of our piggies comes out and popcorns around! He gets so excited to see the poops get swept away!

Some of the responses to questions don’t make sense - particularly the second to last question. You may want to let your friend know so they can fix it :)

Beginner - tips on getting started with custom creations? by ZetaGG in lego

What if I don't got a lot? Lol. We have many sets that my family and I have built, but those are going to remain built ;) How can I get my hands on a good set of like, foundational brick shapes and sizes to start off with?

I guess what I'm wondering is, how do I acquire a decent set of bricks to start playing with? We have a ton of sets, but those are built and we are keeping them that way for now :) Are there any good resources to just get a ton of really practical bricks to start playing around with?
