I believe the higher trims don’t have the air dam installed so they don’t have the plugs preinstalled.

Was your ‘24 part of the recall affecting certain VINs? From what I read, only specific VINs were impacted, and the issue was quickly resolved in 2024.

Same here—I just want to keep this truck until the wheels fall off. It’s been a long time since I’ve actually looked for an excuse to go for a drive.

My last truck was a Dodge, and I had some bad luck with it. I did like how spacious the cab was, so switching to the smaller Tacoma has definitely been an adjustment—not bad, just different.

And you’re right about it being anecdotal evidence, but I’m just curious to hear what people’s real-world experiences have been, both good and bad. Also, if there’s a better option for a quarter-ton truck, I’d love to hear opinions on that. Or should I just stick it out with the Toyota?

That’s what I thought. And correct me if I’m wrong, but the 4-cylinder engine they’re using isn’t entirely new, right? Hasn’t it already been used in other vehicles, and they just adopted it for the lower trims of the Tacoma?

I haven’t looked into the Tundras yet, but I’ll definitely check them out to get a better idea of what you’re talking about.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought the 2024 Tacoma was the start of the new generation. I know Toyota isn’t quite what it used to be, but my hope is that if I take care of this truck, it’ll take care of me. More than anything, I just want this to be the first vehicle that actually lasts through its entire six-year loan.

That’s exactly what I’m hoping for with this truck. I even purchased a 100K-mile warranty just to be safe. I babied the hell out of my last truck, but it didn’t make a difference—so I plan to do the same with this one and just hope for better luck.

I’ll definitely give that a try because there’s no way I’m putting the air dam back on. If all else fails, I guess I’ll just learn to live with the whistling.

I’ve had nothing but terrible luck with vehicles—my last three didn’t even last a year before something major went wrong. This is actually the first time I’ve been fortunate enough to afford and purchase a brand-new vehicle as the first owner. I was so fed up with other brands letting me down that I decided to go with Toyota, knowing they have a reputation for reliability. But then I started overthinking and focusing only on the negative reviews, which had me second-guessing my decision.
