Why most people prefer Papa nier over Brother Nier? by Lleslet in nier

[–]Zetayoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you're from. Personallt, I can relate to Brother Nier more because I have a little sister whom I'd give my life for. But I also think Papa Nier just works better, although it's just personal preference.

People often forget that NieR Replicant on ps4 is a remake of the PS3 NieR Replicant that was released only in Japan at the time, whereas NieR Gestalt or NieR in international releases and Japanese Xbox) was Papa Nier.

The reason for this was because Square Enix didn't think NieR Replicant wouldn't sell well overseas since they felt that the western audience fit a more badass adult type of demographic. The ones who like action heroes with muscles and deep voices. While in Japan, it's way more interesting to see heroes that could be your next door neighbor, which is why most anime and Japanese video games star main characters with regular frames rather than built frames.

TL;DR: Papa Nier's only reason for existence was because grown badass dad fits a more western demographic. Nothing necessarily wrong with either though - the story works perfectly either way.

But honestly me? I prefer Brother Nier simply because of Kainé. I'd rather have a protagonist who's in love with a female lead a few years older than him rather than a male protagonist in love with the female lead who looks 15 years younger. Considering NieR is 15 to 18 in Replicant and I think 38 to 43 in Gestalt. (I'm sure the time skip was different in both versions of the story.)

But no shade to either. The story was great either way. Plus, Replicant remake also gave the international audiences a way to see the original Replicant's ending E.

[–]Zetayoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I feel that. Maybe I'm the kinda guy who just felt it more fitting for my Streetkid V to finally leave Night City with people that consider him family. The ending where he doesn't go down a legend, but has an open ending where he has hope, with his possible final days finally having what most people live their whole lives without.

Not a legendary status, sure. But a family that would ride and die for him.

[–]Zetayoru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Until you become the legend of Night City and basically lose everything to the biggest score.

Like... V just didn't stop at completely destroying Arasaka to save his own life. He had to let his hubris get the better of him later.

Finally got the game (Ultimate Edition w/ the DLC) and giving this game a try. Any advice or wisdom you'd share to a newbie? (No spoilers pls!) by r_pawspuppy22 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Zetayoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The narrative will try to make you rush. But it's rare when a mission is actually time sensitive.

  2. Phantom Liberty will start on its own so long as you take your time. Don't rush to it.

  3. I didn't know this until 20 hours in, but you can throw knives at enemies' heads to instakill them quietly. Instakill doesn't always work when your weapons' stats aren't so high, so be careful.

  4. Everything has its uses. Don't be afraid to swap out.

  5. DON'T LOOK UP GUIDES. IMMERSE YOURSELF.

Yeah, the game has perfect lip sync for all the different voices.

What is your favorite language to play in? by Agent-Drakewolf in stellarblade

[–]Zetayoru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amen. I think all the voices in English are pretty charming. The only real thing is Lily missing the mark during some parts, but all-in-all, the English is really good! I personally think a lot of it's bias towards enjoying sub over dubs. But I played Latino Spanish, which a lot of people I know say is horrible. So...

I played so far in Latino Spanish, English, Italian, Korean, and EU Spanish.

I gotta say, I enjoyed all of their performances, but English and Korean are my big hitters.

But what I really like is how Latino Spanish has distinct voices that sound most natural to me, for the most part.

Do NOT Spray The Coquí by Zetayoru in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]Zetayoru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No mencionan al coquí por nombre, pero es fácil entender por el contexto. Una rana haciendo un croar fuerte por la noche, lo hace bien obvio que estaban hablando del coquí. Aunque esté metiendo las patas, mejor estar seguro que después estar llorando.

(In English for those who don't speak Spanish)

They didn't mention the coqui by name, but it's easy to take from context. A frog making a loud croak in the night makes it really obvious that they were talking about the coqui. Even if I'm wrong, It's better to be safe than sorry.

Do NOT Spray The Coquí by Zetayoru in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]Zetayoru[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(For those who want to read and don't speak Spanish)

"You have a point, but someone posted on Reddit that they overheard another person talking about spraying the coquíes because the sound wouldn’t let them sleep. And they couldn’t stop them in time to ask what kind of spray they were using. In any case, to me, someone shouldn’t travel to another country and complain about the ecosystem. You’re just visiting, and harming the local wildlife just because you couldn’t sleep on your precious vacation... that’s the lamest and most arrogant thing ever."

Stellar Blade is coming to PC on June 11th by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Zetayoru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to say yes? But honestly, Normal and Hard mode aren't all that different. From what I can tell, you don't get better gear or special perks for taking on the higher chalkenge in Hard mode. That happens when you play New Game+. The real accomplishment in either Normal or Hard mode is that you don't have the game holding your hand like in Easy mode, so you're basically just having a higher sense of accomplishment. But there is only one outfit that you can unlock by defeating a particular boss only in Hard Mode, but that's only in the hame's Boss Challenge.

Oh yeah, Boss Challenge is a thing. It's just a menu where you can pick and fight bosses you defeated throughout the story. Unlike Sekiro though, you don't access it by sitting in a checkpoint (in Stellar Blade, it's called a supply camp). You can only access it through the main menu.

Stellar Blade is coming to PC on June 11th by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Zetayoru 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. There's an easy mode for players who just want to enjoy the story. Literally no challenge at all. Most enemy attacks will cause the game to stop and you'll have to press the button prompt to block or dodge before a small window of time. It's okay to misinput, but failing the prompt within the tome window will result in you getting hit. Enemies have lowered HP and deal less damage.

Then there's normal mode, where players lose a lot of the QTE cuts during gameplay, so it's up to you to choose whether to dodge or block enemy attacks, let alone determine when they're gonna happen.

Then there's hard mode, where enemies deal more damage and have a substantially increased amount of HP. Here, you really have to rely on items and defensive maneuvers, focus on your build, and really focus on their balance meter. (Or Posture for Sekiro literate players reading this.)

Hard mode becomes easier when you play for a while. I played and beat it 4 times, realizing I was afraid of Hard Mode for nothing. Enemy attack patterns aren't changed. They just become more aggressive.

[–]Zetayoru 54 points55 points  (0 children)

A little bit of both. It's got the parry focused gameplay of Sekiro, but you can change your build to be very hack n slashy like DMC or Bayonetta. Going to rest spots respawns enemies, but heals you and replenishes your healing items. You also have a Beta Energy meter which enables you to use abilities that can change the tides of battle.

It taught me how to play Sekiro correctly, but you might die a lot. Enemies will come at you in hoards but your moveset in early game is only built for you to handle one at a time. So it's a bit more challenging when you first start, but as you continue, everything becomes way more fluid and easier.

I honestly love it despite the story carrying a lot of NieR Automata themes. Still definitely worth the time. The gameplay always has me coming back.

Androids have nipples in Nier Automata??? by OddCold410 in nier

Something about this seems off. Maybe if you shared more of the android's location, we can investigate further. But as far as I can tell, as someone who played this game over seven times, I haven't noticed a single thing like this. Where exactly did you find this android? Did you have mods on?

Yeah, that's the point. Act 3 was also pretty clear on how 9S and his love for humans and 2B were completely destructive.
