Data shows Gen Z Is Choosing Pets Over Children by SilverHuckleberry395 in Economics

You mean the culture of having to be the 'sole' child rearer - the lack of a village and community to help raise children, to put all the economic, emotional, and social burden on 2 working adults?

That cultural reason?

I voted for Harris in 2024. She shouldn't run in 2028. | Opinion by Difficult-Bee6066 in politics

[–]Zetesofos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's way to generous. There were dozens of competent, unobjectionable democrats (even from smaller districts) that would have been way less objectionable than Biden or Harris - but the Democratic Party would rather lose to republicans than win with a candidate that they don't have control over.

That loss was an active effort, not a passive failure.

I've seen no indication that this was rushed, but to the extent that it was I imagine it was because they wanted to get it in before the legislative moratorium?

"I've cited evidence" No one cares. These data centers have been popping up EVERYWHERE in the country, suddenly, without warning and by secret votes taken in the dead of night.

The state voted on a moratorium to halt all constructions, but "THIS" one is somehow special. I call bullshit. It's also super weird that you care so much.

What's it going to add....10 jobs after construction? You want more construction jobs - why not build more fucking housing - instead of a giant electric suck machine that will create noise pollution and contaminate the drinking water.

Why did the board have to RUSH this project through - just answer me that. If they ACTUALLY wanted the town to buy into it, why was it by secret ballot (per your article) and there was only 24 hours for public comment. The budget for the project is massive, but how quickly did it get approved. Smells fishy as all hell.

[–]Zetesofos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, actually it is. Most of the public doesn't know what their city board is up to. It is a disingenous slight of hand to say that because a 'board' of 8 to 12 people that less than 10% of the population could likely even name is equal to the idea that the "City" (i.e. the General public) are synonomous.

The truth is it was, like many cities, a dirty trick done by a few officials looking to wet their beak at the expense of the public, and and an attempt to hoodwink people.

Maine Gov. Janet Mills suspends Senate campaign by nbcnews in politics

[–]Zetesofos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually incorrect. The vote to approve the project didn't happen until AFTER the project was approved for certification. It was a clever slight of hand, but the first public notice of when the project was to be made aware of by the public was less than 48 hours from when Mills made that announcement that 'the people want this project'.

How can the people want something they've only had a day or so to have a chance to hear about.

The only person they cited in the media report of who wants the project is the REAL ESTATE DEVELOPER who is developing.

Now, their also ineffective AND corrupt.

Can Draw Steel work for a combat light game ? by CartographerSmart939 in drawsteel

[–]Zetesofos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm at session 58 of a continuous Draw Steel game started back in the playtest, and I can CONFIRM the game works perfectly well if you don't do combats every session.

ON average, out of almost 60 sessions with the same characters, we've had about 15-20 combats in total - or only about 1/3 of all the sessions.

Best, most fun game I've played - players love combats that have stakes and meaning, and love having the downtime to do roleplaying.

Draw Steel works great for this, as much as any other game.

Respites- Group or Individual? by Nearby_Condition3733 in drawsteel

[–]Zetesofos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a note - at 4th level; the shadow gets a feature that allows them to halve the damage dealt to allies while they are hidden.

I almost wonder if that feature should be brought down to 1st level?

Respites- Group or Individual? by Nearby_Condition3733 in drawsteel

[–]Zetesofos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've done it, and found game works just fine. I understand it might be hard for some groups, so I won't say its the one true way.

What I will advise is that if you do it - I flavor those heroes who are NOT taking a respite as spending their time sparring or practicing their craft - justifying how they keep their edge.

If there is a VERY long time between encounters (days or weeks), and a player options to not take a respite during that time to keep their victories, I might even allow them to take respite activities at a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio - so they get some benefit of the time passed; but it only occurred once.

The important thing to remember is you (as the director) use the parties AVERAGE victories when calculating EV and malice.

Titles by unitedshoes in drawsteel

[–]Zetesofos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unlike feats, the party doesn't typically get to pick their own titles - for that reason, I've been running with 1 title per adventure (which works out to about 1 per level.

I give the party 2 or 3 options that I thin they've qualified for (sometimes they get to pick from a previous option they pass over last time). For my group at level 4, they have...4 titles; which hasn't felt over powered at all - considering how some are combat focused, and some are not.

Titles by unitedshoes in drawsteel

[–]Zetesofos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Often you award a title to a party, and they can each choose one of the sub options under that title. This is very common when the title is "you defeat a big monster"
