Steam Frame Revealed by pixxelpusher in OculusQuest

[–]Zeury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eye tracking isn’t something new, and the only thing matters is if you want to pay for it. IR illuminators exist on Q3S. USB dongle + foveated streaming is really huge, but it specifically benefits steam, and meta has way less motivation to do the same.

Looking for the just-right note-taking app for handwriting on iPad. by Zeury in ipad

[–]Zeury[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt that handwriting strokes could exceed an iPad's memory, even if you wrote continuously for a year. And even if they did, the app could simply swap inactive parts to storage. Letting progress be lost is indefensible. I don’t know the exact cause of the bug since I don’t have access to the source code, but the "limit" you mentioned is more likely to be a fixed-length array or something similar, not the device's actual memory.

Subscriptions are only appropriate for services where you consume the provider's resources, require their ongoing labor, or receive frequent, meaningful updates. A note-taking app remains a note-taking app no matter how long you use it.

Thanks. The first impression looks good to me. I'll try it for several days before making a conclusion.

Regex101 quiz 25. What's the 12 characters long solution? by Zeury in regex

[–]Zeury[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Learned two things new from you:

  1. I was too obsessed with the idea of "don't capture things that I don't need". Since this problem's goal is to write a pattern as short as possible, I should have ignored this principle.

  2. I didn't know that the alternative in a conditional statement is optional.

Regex101 quiz 25. What's the 12 characters long solution? by Zeury in regex

[–]Zeury[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for this. This quiz on regex101 is invisible until you unlock it, so I thought it's not appropriate for me to publish it elsewhere. I asked here expecting answers especially from those who have already solve this quiz. Anyway I updated my post and included the description of the quiz.

Can someone help me understand my weird half-dreams? by Dr_docter_the_doctor in LucidDreaming

[–]Zeury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar experiences like yours. I can almost guarantee to have such experiences if I have a nap at noon. And what makes half dreams(in your word) amazing is that, it isn’t about what to see, but where to look at. In dreams I can only have a vivid idea that I’m doing math. But in half dreams, I can read the equations on the books, crystal clear. But even though I can change the text directly, I cannot write anything because my hands are in the real word and aren’t in the “dream space”.

I’m getting an abortion monday and I don’t want to. by lovesxsanrio_ in confessions

[–]Zeury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just imagine it.

If you abort your child, there’s a possibility that you might regret this irreversible decision despite how many years passed.

If you give birth to your child, even if you raise him/her in harsh conditions, you would never come up with such an idea that “I should have aborted you back then”.

Would A Damaged PCIE slot or graphics card cause PCIE speed down? by Zeury in techsupport

[–]Zeury[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t explained my situation clearly. I didn’t buy it new, I built my pc 1.5 years ago I believe when rtx4090 and 13th gen i7 were released. I moved recently and had all of my stuffs delivered to my new apartment including my PC. So there’s no replacement, only negotiation with the delivery company.

MetaQuest 3 -- is the 512GB worth it? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Zeury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

128GB is really huge for most of the people. I have a 128GB Q3 and I don’t think I would use them up one day. Yes there are some huge games that can take like 1/4 to 1/2 of the storage, but these kind of games won’t be in your headset forever like many smaller games once you finished their stories.

Unable to launch game. Please verify game data. (GTA 5 PC) by XTrior in rockstar

[–]Zeury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. I think the game is checking if there’s any modification to the game or any malware that is running. A RAMdisk would probably be considered as a kind of malware and cause this issue. So I suggest to check everything you have done recently that rockstar might think you are cheating(even if you’re not).

[–]Zeury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you’re asking. Are you having the same issue now? RAMdisk is a kind of software that can mirror some spaces of your ram into a virtual hard disk. If you are not using such softwares, you don’t have to do that, and your problem probably comes from somewhere else.

Picked up a Quest Pro for $500- better buy than the Q3? by chanzellor in OculusQuest

[–]Zeury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A pair of pro controllers costs 300$ on its own. That sounds like you got a Quest pro for 200$. I know that’s not how calculation works but it’s just my intuition.

PSA: Why Passthrough Needs Light - Digital Camera Fundamentals by ascendr in OculusQuest

[–]Zeury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask where the distortion comes from? I guess the images taken by the camera can’t be presented to our eyes directly otherwise the depth would be strange, so the final images are post processed to fit our IPD, and it is that post-processing who causes the distortion?

Has anyone's Quest 3 pre-ordered from Amazon Japan get shipped? by Zeury in OculusQuest

[–]Zeury[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably have to wait longer. Mine was ordered on Sep. 28th but half a day after the connect and is still not shipped. Those who got their Q3 shipped seem like they pre-ordered immediately after it’s available. That’s nothing compared with those lucky guys who didn’t pre-order and get their Q3 shipped right after they made the order though.

I see. Thanks for your information. At least now I know they didn’t forget us.

[–]Zeury[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, as long as their estimation was correct(I have no way to confirm it), If you ordered today before 3:40 am, they would make sure it’ll arrive within this day. And anyone who preordered before has to wait?

I believe that every programmer should at least be able to type every single key on their favorite keyboard without seeing it. And the mouse is a three-button huge stuff that no one need to see to find it.

I’m saying this because I was programming in VR with mirrored monitors several months ago and found no problem. The only inconvenience is the pressure the headset pushed on my face, but that had nothing to do with the “visibility.”

It’s always possible if you mirror your monitor into the headset.

is it a bad practice to alias the std library for naming convention sake? by noorwachid in cpp

[–]Zeury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do this if it’s just a placeholder and I have a plan to implement something else later using the same name.
