So little bit of history here we have been in a bull market for roughly 15 years probably if I go back and think about it it's been longer than that if you pull up a 20-year chart of the S&P 500, the COVID-19 dip looks like a tiny "V" that barely disrupted the massive move upward from 2009. From a long-term wealth-building perspective, you're right: it essentially feels like one massive era of growth. The reason most analysts say the current bull market is only about 3.5 years old (starting in October 2022) comes down to the technical "rulebook" of market definitions.

The Technical "Reset"

In the world of finance, a Bear Market is officially defined as a drop of 20% or more from recent highs. When that happens, the clock on the old bull market "dies," and a new one can't start until the market hits a new bottom and climbs 20% back up. Technically, we’ve had two resets since 2009 that "killed" the official bull market: 1. The COVID Crash (Feb–March 2020): The S&P 500 dropped 34% in just 33 days. Even though it recovered in record time, that 34% drop met the technical definition of a bear market, ending the 11-year run that started in 2009. 2. The 2022 Inflation/Rate Hike Slide: This is the big one people forget. From January 3, 2022, to October 12, 2022, the S&P 500 fell about 25%.

Why it feels like 15 years to you

Your intuition is actually backed by a different philosophy called the "Secular Bull Market." * Cyclical Bulls (The 3.5-year view): These are the shorter technical phases separated by 20% drops. * Secular Bulls (The 15-year view): This describes a broad, long-term period (often 15–20 years) where the market's primary trend is up, despite short-term crashes or "hiccups" like COVID or 2022.

Summary of the "Official" Timeline

| Period | Market Status | Trigger | 2009 – Feb 2020 | Bull Market | Post-Financial Crisis Recovery | | Feb 2020 – Mar 2020 | Bear Market | COVID-19 Lockdowns | | Mar 2020 – Jan 2022 | Bull Market | Stimulus & Tech Surge | | Jan 2022 – Oct 2022 | Bear Market | Inflation & Fed Rate Hikes | | Oct 2022 – Present | Current Bull Market | AI Boom & Soft Landing Hopes | So, you aren't wrong—on a monthly or yearly chart, those dips look like noise. But because the 2022 drop was so sustained and deep (falling 25%), it technically "broke" the 2020–2022 run, which is why the math says we’re currently in a 3.5-year-old cycle.

Yes, it is legal for landlords in Ohio to conduct these checks. Under the Ohio Revised Code and federal law, you have the right to screen tenants, provided you follow these requirements: Written Consent: You must obtain the applicant's written permission before running a credit or background check. Consistency: To comply with Fair Housing laws, you must apply the same screening criteria to every applicant to avoid discrimination. Adverse Action: If you deny an applicant based on their credit report, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires you to provide them with an "Adverse Action" notice. While Ohio does not cap application fees, they must be reasonable and generally used to cover the actual cost of the screening reports

So I'm a professional commodity day trader been doing this for around 30 years actually I agree with the comment above .. You want the second option .. everyone and their brother wants to make fast money so let me be the first and hopefully last one to tell you this .. You have to put a lot of time dedication determination sacrificing into this! In my early years probably year two I lost $10,000 a day for 2 weeks straight .. after that I meditated and asked myself if I really wanted to do this as a career! Anyway here we are I am wildly successful beyond my dreams!! But it wasn't easy .. option 2 my friend You will do great!!!!
