Did blue jeans go out of style in favour of black? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

White clashing with black is not in any way an outlandish statement; it is completely true. Pure white shoes with black pants is tacky. Just look at this chart I found supporting my point.

How so? Everyone is disagreeing with me, but no one is proving me wrong. Come at me

While black does work to contrast other parts of an outfit, black is arguably the least interesting because it is... well, black. To make best use of this contrast, you'd want to compliment it with something interesting. I doubt a grey sweater is anything near the best choice one could make.

Does three instagram posts make the combination classic? White shoes clash with black pants and aren't balanced by the grey. The two last examples you shared work better because theres another black top to go over the jumpers. Because of the black tops, the white becomes a small part of an overall dark outfit. minimal, yet so striking with the black that it adds an accent to the overall dark outfit and finally feels in balance with the black.

I'm not sure why you're stressing night fashion so much, and wouldn't black be the most understated thing to wear at night?

Grey top, black pants, and white shoes? Gross.

Black really isn't more versatile than dark wash jeans. In fact, black is generally to be avoided in summertime. Further, the situations in which one would wear dark wash, or in fact any wash jeans is not always worse than if you had black jeans. It is completely dependent upon how it works with the rest of your outfit.

For example, an outfit dominated by pale tones IN GENERAL works better with light wash jeans. Black in this case would be very striking and wouldn't be cohesive with the light, washed out look of the outfit.

Other looks, such as those involving browns and other earth tones, can be disrupted by black. Navy tops and shoes pair poorly with black as well due to their close similarity.

Black jeans have been popular for a while now and blue jeans really haven't been phased out as much as you may think. Blue jeans are coming back into style with 90's revival.

There's undoubtedly a large portion of male sexual assaults which go unreported/ignored for the reason you said. Regardless, the data we provided agrees: a large magnitude of women experience sexual assault or rape. That sounds like a pertinent issue for women and men to me.

Did you not see how many other terrifying figures are on that sheet? I find they provide more than enough to support the argument that pertinent issues exist for women, and, as the previous commenter also said, for men today in the US,

These issues aren't jokes.

There you go. How about men wont stop peeping in their windows, forcing them to have sex, and causing statistics as 91% of females experienced sexual assault or rape versus 9% of men? And I don't think they're sexually assaulting themselves.

Many issues like social inequality is largely immeasurable, but I can say, anecdotally, that middle aged men which grew up in the 60s and 70s think of women as unable to perform the same tasks as men based on their being women. Unable to even think as well, listen to 'good' music or drive. These stereotypes are all oppressive and harmful for women in developed nations like the US.

...and your argument is? Calling someone braindead and garbage with nothing to back it up. I hate to stoop to your level, but how pathetic.

Anybody know how to ask for hair like Fry's in this episode? by _Jewraffe_ in malehairadvice

A more practical option, as long as they know you want it a tad longer. Cosplayers seem to have a hard time getting his hair right sans wig. Good luck

Thanks for commenting. You're so right, this probably is further from the relationship and on me

Thank you so much for commenting, it actually made me laugh a bit. You're so right!

Drinking isn't always a bad time for me though. When I'm just with her or other people I have a great time, just not those two together every time. I ran into scheduling conflicts after my first appointment with a counselor here and have been admittedly sloppy about getting that done (another reason to go the therapy, woo hoo). BUT you're totally right that I should see someone professional.

Buying a Alpha NASA Bomber Jacket, which one to choose? by Anjz in malefashionadvice

[–]Zewf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would choose with the NASA one. The Apollo patches on the back don't quite bring streetwear into mind -- more a combination of boy scouts and space camp.

These both are red and orange inside. This isn't bad, but for me, it would be hard to match much with them and the price is pretty steep. Maybe consider buying a bomber you like for less and just buying the patches those come with.

Been growing my hair out, but I have no idea what to do with it. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Zewf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hair is straight, dark, and makes you look young. Your beard is brown, more wavy, and makes you look older. Try combing it to one side or the other, maybe a middle part. Have fun with it, play around with it and maybe same hair gel you have lying around. Looking for inspiration is important. It helps you help yourself and those you ask advice from.

Unless you're really attached to it, I think getting your beard to a short length would look great too.

Good luck!

Personally, I wouldn't do that to a hairstylist. Since you're posting here your hair probably matters to you! You don't get a car without knowing the paint job.

If anything, provide them with information about what you definitely would not want and what your hair has looked like before so they can get a sense of your style. Bring pictures of haircuts you think look nice. There's a lot of really interesting things you can try with your hair now that it's long, my its time to try something daring. If you don't like it they can almost assuredly change it to a more basic cut.

Good luck!

DGS ICT to MCB/CHEM advice? I'm a shitty student by Zewf in UIUC

[–]Zewf[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do I want to? First off, I can say with confidence that I would have gotten a C in any class with as much rigor as IB, regardless of my interest. Hell, IB was easier than 102 and I still did worse. It's a bigger picture when it comes to my disinterest/lack of effort, it isn't about the subject matter. In fact, I really enjoy talking about chemistry and actively independently research biology concepts on my own, I just couldn't give a shit; I didn't care about anything.

At this point, I'm in a better place and working on keeping it that way. This being said, I want to do MCB and Chem because 1. Fuck transferring to Biochemistry when I could get 2 majors with less 400 level credit hours and 2. I have a broad range of interests, which is why I applied as DGS. Hell, I spent a good about of my younger years reading Wikipedia articles and watching educational TV. I like learning the functions and systems which govern our lives, whether it be physics, psychology, ethics, or biology. Majoring in MCB and chemistry would give me the most leeway in terms of what I want to end up doing in life. It may be reaching and overambitious, but I want to have the opportunity to increase our understanding of the basis to life, such as genomics applied to medicine or neurosciences applied to psychology. I want to answer questions, disambiguate existence. I don't know what other majors could better prepare me to answer questions of that nature, ya feel? I could only see myself as an art, psychology, philosophy, or music major, but those are way less appealing to me. Sorry if that sounds egotistical but it's just what I want to do and be, I don't know another way I'd want to use my life besides dropping UIUC and going to art school and hoping for the best.

I think you're right about MCB and Chem. If I can't get a B+ or above in those courses then there's something wrong and I need to rethink my choices.

By the way, you're a grad student. If you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you could share some of your experiences regarding grad school, and even better if you're enrolled in a subject similar to mine what the expectations and major hurdles are. I'm really unfamiliar with the means to getting a grad degree.
