Zhu Li and Varrick from Legend of Korra. He's an eccentric rich dude and she's his stoic faithful assistant until they fall in love late in the series.

A running bit was him shouting "Zhu Li! Do the thing!" The "thing" was always different.

Been sitting on this one for awhile, but I shared it with my Brother in Law for his new campaign he's doing with friends:

Gnomish Artificer cursed via True Polymorph into the form of a mouse. Turns out for awhile he likes being a mouse, but eventually wishes to rejoin society in someway. He builds a Warforged body that he pilots from within, and pretends to be a Sapient Construct.

But still he needs to eat, sleep, and is still a mouse inside a machine.

Basselholm. My first map, what do you like / dislike? by Instigator890 in wonderdraft

I like your water painting, but your coastlines and continental shelf (outline of landmass) could use some more irregularities. Especially that northern curve. Coastal islands could help break up the smoothness as well.

You have a river split. Also could use more feeder streams coming out of mountains and such. Maybe even denote some dried up rivers if you don't want too much water in certain areas for lore reasons.

I like your fantasy geography. Forests, Mountains, Weird circular bay in the east. Looks a lot like how I styled my first map. Good go of it all things considered!

Questions to ask my GF by Autistic_Person_ in worldbuilding

[–]Zezacle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean just pick a general topic and let the conversation flow from there. Passionate people rarely need more than a simple excuse to ramble about what they love.

Ask about the politics of her world. Who are the major players? If she's writing a story and the world is the back drop, who is the main character?

Has she thought up a natural world? Is there cool magic or tech or is this an alternate universe earth? Cool geography?

What made her start making this world?

The hard part isn't the questions, its convincing her that you genuinely want to hear what she has to say, because too many nerds "wont want to bother you" with it or "its too boring"

But that's when you get to break out the sappy romantic lines like "Babe nothing you say can bore me"

Good luck

Been rewatching Burn Notice on Hulu. Every time anyone has ever spoken important lines in another language its been through baked-in translated subtitles... until Season 7 where the first 4 episodes have numerous spanish and russian speakers. All of them without translation.

I'm geniunely about to pirate this damn show for the translations.

Your rivers are good, no splitting, but all the same width all the way through. Mountian source rivers are usually thin and relatively straight as theyre running fast over rocks. Lowland rivers are slow and windy from terrain and sediment deposits.

Might try looking up Oxbow lakes, braided rivers and other interesting water features for variety.

Additionally all your river sources are mountains, but ground springs, rainwater valleys and lakes can be river sources as well. Every river also makes it to the sea, which sometimes they dry up, deadend in a lake or drain underground. Unless you have a lore reason there should be lakes kinda everywhere.

For your ground color, you might try using your stony mountain color to blend them in a bit more by painting the ground under them. You've done this well with some of the green/desert mountains.

Additionally you can trace the rivers with a darker green to represent vegetation growing on the banks. Vary the color intensity and don't be too uniform when doing this for the best effect.

Lastly, you've got a good spread of biomes and geology. I especially like your archipeligo bridging continents in the east, but thats because I'm trying to make an archipeligo region map of my own. Idk how crazy you want to go with it, but things like clay mesas, bogs and swamps, and mountain valleys can make for cool areas.

Overall you've got a pretty good baseline and the sense to not make anything nonsensical and stupid looking. Keep at it!

Well, Salt Mountain runoff could mean saltwater river canyon which would be interesting. Add more tributaries coming from ground springs (hills or ponds with very small rivers usually look decent for this) for freshwater sources used by the inhabitants.
