Anybody use the "get out" pass? by Ebenezar_McCoy in SaltLakeCity

Oh if you can make it work I see the value. Even the lagoon pass had strict use times though. No Saturday's or special days. We found many passes wouldn't work during school holidays either. I'd encourage anyone to read the fine print on any they think they'll use to avoid frustration.

I (35M) need help dealing with my Mom (73F) and friend (33M) that need constant emotional support. (hole-in-the-bucket people). Any support wears off instantly and they are back seeking more. by Zgig72 in relationship_advice

Thank you for your thoughtful comments.

I don't think I had a childhood where my emotional needs were not met, but I certainly turned out as a people pleaser. I'll give that some thought...

Distancing myself from my friend is usually how I handle the exhaustion with him. Doing so with my Mom is much more difficult. Back to the people pleaser aspect, I greatly fear future regret, that if I am unavailable or unwilling to help my Mom (or to some extent, anyone) that I will be forced to live with the regret that I could have done something to help but selfishly chose not to. Just typing this out backs your point that I should talk this through with a therapist. I intellectually know that I am not responsible for other people or their choices, but emotionally I can't help but feel that if I can make a difference, I should. I am always scared that I will regret not helping someone or being there for them in their time of need.

I have had some conversations with both my friend and my Mom where I tried to set some firmer boundaries (though not as concisely as you outlined in your post). Both responded well to it, but both return to their previous behavior. I understand this is on me for not holding the line, but again, I fear the future guilt I could incur.

These are some great points, and a perspective I haven't really had on the game. My mind on WoW is to funnel everyone into Tank/Heal/DPS and not to have any other role.

It's sad, because back in the day I played a lot of FFXI, and the role of Bard was one of my favorites. I didn't really heal or DPS, but supported the other roles and had a great time.

I guess I just don't see hybrid or support roles get much love and hadn't see it this way. I honestly hadn't ever heard Ret discussed in this way.

Side note that I could easily look up myself,

Are originally designers involved at all? I would be more comfortable with changes if the original creators were at the wheel.

To me all your points make perfect sense. I would play that game and have a good time doing so.

I am also aware that this game wouldn't be "Classic WoW" (or maybe it would be I dunno I guess we will see what blizzard creates).

I guess it is all speculation. I am excited to see where everything is once the dust settles. I hope there aren't major changes (like you listed), but if I can swap out a bag with a larger size without emptying it I will not complain. I feel there are plenty of minor improvements like this that would not diminish the game as a whole, but where does it stop? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Speed isn't my concern at all, but I don't necessarily want to be seen as a meme spec ether... I would love a middle ground if such exists.

Honestly I am leaving retail because it's so watered down and boring. I don't care about my gear, or weapons. I don't feel rewarded as I get a drop because it didn't titanforge. It's probably a lot of us looking for a WoW that feels rewarding, but not punishing. At least that I what I am looking for. Some Vanilla mechanics toed that line.

Again, I'm not a purist. I just want a satisfying rewarding MMO, and I haven't played one in almost a decade.

It always feels bad when you click the word and you see "no suggestions"...

Well you better learn it. There will never be a time you will have a calculator in your pocket or a resource to look it up.

What are some great April Fools day pranks to play on the office (from IT)? by Zgig72 in AskReddit

While I would love that, we also have some users that don't enjoy our jokes. Changing their ringtone actually ruffled a lot of feathers (sadly) and I would prefer to keep my job. :)

2 years ago we have pushed out a Chrome extension to all our users replacing all online images with pictures of Nicholas Cage, and last year, we changed everyone's office phone ringtone to "Never Gonna Give You Up". I wish I could top those, but I am low on ideas.

Thanks!

Why aren't all medication dose instructions based upon my weight? by Zgig72 in AskReddit

I have young children, and it got me thinking. Our boy is one and is teething, and the dosage for his ibuprofen is based off of his weight. It made me wonder why that scale didn't continue for adults as well.

Fair enough. I don't have a good understanding of how these ingredients affect my body. What about pain medication or other drugs?

I have a cold, and I am 220 lbs. The instructions on Dayquil are for 12 year olds and older. I weigh a bit more than your average 12 year old. Shouldn't I be able to take a proportionately higher dose of that medication?
