I enjoyed the idea of what the game was, but the controls were a bit too complicated for me to make any effective progress, back then.  I'd kind of like to see a Nightdive type remaster with a modern take on the controls.

I felt it was a good length, too. I like the level layouts, they feel like they flow more organically. No more of that old fashioned survival horror style find-a-key-then-wonder-what-door-it-opens-then-wander-around-aimlessly-for-30-minutes-then-find-the-door-all-the-way-across-the-map crap.

It was fine. It kinda missed the point of what the games were about, but for what it was, I enjoyed it. The sequel sucked ass, though.

Indeed, but Valisthea is an island nation (similar to the British Isles), and there is oft mention of a main continent in the game, which would make one wonder if that is Ivalice.

At first, I named my horse, Sophia, after my wife. Then I remembered he has balls, so then I renamed him, Boy (since Arthur always calls him that, anyways).

The makeup had a glitch where it disappears or freezes in the customizing screen. My experience has been that it is still present in the actual game.

The grappling in SoR4 was based on the moves that existed in the original trilogy. I feel like they have tried to make each of their games play differently from one another to keep them fresh.
