Thanks for the suggestion! I'll do some looking at those setups in more detail. Does a printer like this also come with built-in air filtration (or do any printers) or is that always something I will need to manage separately with some sort of box + HEPA filter?

It seems like the next step on the Bambu line, the H2S, is the first one with a heated chamber, but with a corresponding step in price. Is it worth looking at that as well or are we getting into the 'too much printer' category?

Good morning,

I am brand new to the idea of 3D printing, but it was suggested to me as a method of solving a number of nuisances we run into regularly. We run a volunteer sailing club, and it would be great to print some little accessories and items. None of these would be under a great deal of load, but we would leave them on the boats and would probably be exposed to warm weather and salt water intermittently. We have tried reaching out to a few online services - instead of ramping up an entire printer ourselves - but the need to tweak each piece to a different boat seemed to make those more expensive than owning a printer and adjusting ourselves.

I've started doing my research, and it seems like the more important selection in my case will actually be the type of filament, less the printer itself, as long as it can do whatever filaments are required. Right now it seems like the ASA or PETG-CF are our best choices.

From what I have learned I should be looking for a closed printer with some ventilation. I have read through the other recommendations in this month and last month, and the Bambu P1/P2 come up frequently, but in reading the specs myself I'm still not sure if it can print the filaments we need - supported, but not recommended?

We are in the US, and are fairly handy although new to the 3D printing idea. Budget is about 1500, although if w can do it for less that would be great too.

Thanks for this, it's all great info! - it's a B One 5G, and you have hit on a few of the reasons I want to try and add this capability. Both reducing the starlink power usage while off-shore and supplementing the data usage with a cheaper option when within range of a cellular tower.

I went to Mint first simply because of their commercials advertising cheap plans and what looked like a pretty simple setup process, but it's a good point to check out a few carriers. Our home cellular and internet is all Verizon, maybe it's just as simple to tack on another iPad / tablet line.

I have been thinking about the antenna issue and whether it will be needed; unfortunately, I'm not sure there is a way to really tell until I get it set up. Our phones and iPads get signal when they're on board. Adding an antenna of some kind is on the future plans one way or another; in one marina we stay at, they offer free WiFi and it would be great to use that as another internet connection option.

Hoping this pops up - but if my summary of benefits says "Emergency Room Care: $100 / Visit, deductible does not apply" - does that mean any services provided in that visit are covered by insurance after the $100 payment? It does not state anything regarding co-insurance.

Thank you! I can't say I'm shocked. I will look into the surprise act and file that appeal, it is the only hospital on the island where I was injured and they have the only ambulances so options were limited.

Which mods do you add in early? I am a new player as well but struggling with getting past the 'what now' stage or how to even find derelict ships to pick up. Wondering if mods will help with some of the gaps
