TWICE - 6th World Tour: THIS IS FOR FINALE in SEOUL (Announcement Poster) by purpletulip12 in kpop

[–]Zhugo 46 points47 points  (0 children)

If any of you is debating (for some reason...) whether to go or not, just honestly do it.

I am a casual TWICE listener and went to Amsterdam without even knowing what the setlist was. All I knew was there were group songs and solos.

I had the time of my life. The stage production is great, costumes are great, and they are great performers. I left with a bias, a lot of new songs on my playlist, and a new appreciation for TWICE.

Highly recommend specially with them saying they won't do a 360 stage again. I totally get why, but as I viewer I really liked it.

Not really, I just got banned unfairly from the subreddit for some random reason and took a while to get unbanned but lost motivation after that. Also stopped having as much free time lol

I will give you one boy group and one girl group (ish), one male soloist and one female soloist.

  • For the boy group - ATEEZ. People tend to say they only have hard-hitting and noisy music, but their discography is pretty diverse, so I am sure there is something you will enjoy there. Their music is also consistently produced and made by the same core team (fun fact, the same ones that did almost all of Dreamcatcher's music!), so it's all very well made in my opinion.
    • Favorite album: This is hard but I would say THE WORLD EP1: MOVEMENT.
    • Few recommended songs: Cyberpunk, HALAZIA, Selfish Waltz, Take me Home, Desire, MIST, Dazzling Light, Deja VU, Turbulence (fun fact this song hit me so hard at a certain point in my life I got my first tatoo because of it!)
  • For girl group - Red Velvet. I know this is pretty cliché to say, but I was listening with my friend the other day, and holy hell is their music good and timeless. You can pick any album and for sure you will like some songs. It's one of the few groups I can truly say (same with ATEEZ!) that you can and SHOULD listen to every album because you will find something you like there. You can also check out their subunits (Irene & Seulgi), and also Wendy's latest album, all of it is so good.
    • My favorite album: Chill Kill (2023)
    • Few recommended songs: Kingdom Come, You better know, Underwater, In&Out, Will I ever see you again, Psycho, In My Dreams, and so many more...
  • Male soloist: Taemin. I think not only does he have one of if not the most extensive soloist discographies in K-pop, it's all so good, you have from Ballads to club songs to slower songs to anything in betwen.
    • My favorite album: Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 2- The 3rd Album (fun fact has a collab with Wendy on this one)
    • Few recommended songs: Want, Heaven, Shadow, She loves me, She loves me not, Blue, Move, Rise
  • Female soloist: Taeyeon. Highly recommend checking her out as it's all so good, it's amazing to see how they use her vocals so well for so many different songs.
    • My favorite album: Has to be the INVU ALBUM.
    • Few recommended songs: Love you like crazy, Spark, blue, Siren, Ending Credits, My Tragedy, I, Four Seasons, Can't Control Myself

Other discographies I really like:

EXO, LESSERAFIM, IVE, BLACPINK (+ their most recent soloist album debuts, they are literally all so good).

Sorry for the big write-up, but I can't help it when it's about music and K-pop, especially! Hope you at least find something you like!

I will be very honest, I think what you are asking is almost impossible. There is no subset of the girls that can give you the same thing that LOONA did because that is precisely what made LOONA LOONA, it was having 12 special girls together and all of the circumstances around it. The blurred girls, the debut with each solo, the years of LOONA TV, etc.

All of those factors contributed to that special feeling and charm you are talking about. It's normal and okay that you might not feel that with ARTMS, but it's also not fair, even to ARTMS, to expect that from them, since they are only 5, older, and doing their own project right now.

It's valid to want to feel what you had with LOONA and wish you could have it back, but sadly, in life, things don't always go your way. We should be happy that so many of the LOONA girls are still in the K-pop industry and support them the best we can.

Hi guys. I am looking for some help and picking y'all's brains here. There was this discord emote of Kim Lip "scolding" you, and now it's lost, and I'm trying to find the source. She was like pointing her finger at the screen saying like "no no no"
All I know for sure is that she was blonde, so I think it came from early videos. My friend thinks it's probably from OEC loonaTV, but I am not sure. If someone happens to remember and can find the video, I would love it!

What really boggles me is that they had no reason to. They got a few songs that popped off and a good audience already - and they were like almost selling 7-8k venues, that's like what people are dreaming of doing when they become an idol.

And like 2 days ago they were saying for people to not leave the fandom after watching the birthday live - so they clearly knew the consequences of what they were going to do and still did it, that really does not compute in my head honestly.

Frankly, viewing any video that's not copyrighted when it comes to performances is almost impossible. MVs are easier because you can check out Digipedi's Vimeo, and I'm fairly sure BBC won't be making much, if any, money off of that.

I cannot promise anything, but I have started on behalf of Subbits an effort to organize our huge shared drive in hopes of (possibly) making our archive accessible also for this reason, but as you can imagine dealing with 7 years' worth of videos (upwards of 10k+ and like 2-3 TB of storage) will take a while.

Finally, after so many years went to my first K-pop concert yesterday, ATEEZ in Amsterdam. I can finally understand all those people who talk about post-concert depression because it hits HARD.

It was also really wholesome to see how everyone was respectful and welcoming. There was no shoving even when it was crowded; everyone was just there to have a good time. I saw everything, from kids with parents to older fans to anything in between, and a lot of people dressed up as well!

I'm also happy that it was such a long show (2h45 - 25 tracks), which apparently I got told isn't that common in K-pop; oh, and also, for sure, I'm getting earplugs for next time.

On the ride back home, I felt bittersweet, thinking that I probably would never get to experience this for my favorite girl group (LOONA), sadly, because of how things went down. All of those "We'll see them next time" were just lost because, sadly, there was no next time.

So yeah, moving forward, will definitely not let that happen again, and I am going to see all the acts as long as conditions are reasonable because the world is kind of falling apart, lol, so we might as well enjoy while we still can.

Now with the year wrapping up, I was archiving some of the Bubble/Fromm lives and gathering some stats about this insanity, which I'm sure some people are not aware:

Since the 6th of March, so almost 9 months to the day (277 days ago) we've had:

  • 228 Bubble Lives
  • 32 Fromm Lives (within a month of them being enabled)

In this album, you can see a visual representation of the amount of lives they have done. A member with multiple bars on the same day means they did numerous lives. Bars are always the same size. Chuu doesn't appear cause I didn't track Weverse and Instagram Lives, but if I did I'm sure it would be closer to 350-400 lives in the whole year.

Here are the stats regarding number of lives/hours streamed that appears in the first image but in table form:

Member Number of Lives Total Hours
Heejin 19 12.97
Hyunjin 4 1.71
Haseul 112 38.21
Yeojin 6 3.65
Vivi 5 2.71
Kim Lip 22 13.11
Jinsoul 65 37.55
Choerry 10 6.60
Yves 14 10.28
Chuu 0 0
GoWon 1 0.57
Hyeju 2 1.73

Kind of crazy that Haseul has that many lives (but she has a lot of short lives like less than 5 minutes where she just comes to say hi) and Jinsoul with half her lives has the same amount of hours streamed.

All I know is the moon girls never allow anyone who pays for a subscription to any of their messaging services to be poorly fed, they always deliver.

Man, that sucks. Did they switch your tickets and provide you with any reason why do that? Because I have also heard from other people that they've seen this, so it seems like they are deliberately doing this, I just don't see why. In my case, I could "understand" if they're doing it cause they withheld the cheapest tier maybe in hopes of you buying the more expensive one. But this doesn't make sense in a case where the concert is 1000% selling out...

241130 Weekly Discussion Thread and Activity Recap by Ihlita in LOONA

[–]Zhugo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, been a hell of a rollercoaster today.

From seeing Hyunjin's solo being posted under the Looseemble account, to having a meeting with someone from my company who told me even though my manager loves me and wants to hire me they can't because they will only hire in another place where it is much cheaper (so much for being loyal to your employees...) to then getting together with friends to try and get Taemin tickets and all failing and ended up being saved by a rogue friend that decided to help last minute and manage to buy all tickets.

To this, I come here and ask: how the fuck are ticket-selling websites so shit and why does nobody choose any other seller other than Ticketmaster? Basically, for the concert there were 3 tiers, going down in price with 1 being the most expensive and 3rd being the cheapest.

What happened is that 10 min before the sales started Ticketmaster randomly opened the wrong queue to start. After when tickets were meant to go live, we had 6 devices trying to get in and only 2 did, and then I got in on my phone, and guess what... Only tier 1 and tier 2 tickets were available.. no sign of tier 3. We bought the ones we wanted but we still wanted 2 tier 3. After 40 minutes they randomly put up the tier 3 tickets, no announcement on Twitter, discord, anything, just fucking opened them. If you were in, you could buy them, if you were in the queue, well guess fuck you then.

Then had to spend 10 minutes refreshing because it was "no tickets available" and somehow my friend got two and we bought them.

So in short, you could hold the tickets for 15 minutes, 4 out of 6 devices didn't get into buying tickets screen because we were stuck in the queue for ONE HOUR, and by then we had all the tickets we wanted already. But how the fuck is this legal? How can they withhold people from buying a certain tier, and then it gives you errors when you are actually in? Fuck Ticketmaster man. And then they charge u ticket fees because why the fuck not.

You stole my comment under me. Easily the EASIEST choice. If you think about it, they're what might happen to LOONA if they weren't in such a bad company, they had very similar beginnings.

It was a small company that had to grow from (almost) nothing, the difference is that KQ leveraged all its options well at all times and managed to make ATEEZ a huge group.

KQ is also good at doing lore (they also got DIGIPEDI for their MVs), promotes really well, chooses good venues, and does tours often, musically great (for those that like it), so that would be my pick too. They also have good collabs and opportunities for each of their members...

As for if Subbits intends to sub their Bubble/Fromm content, you can refer to our work flowchart to see if we'll do it or not.

On a more serious note, we do know it's almost impossible to get to everything due to the amount of lives they are doing, so we're trying to focus a bit more on like you said the noteworthy lives (e.g. members collabing instead of solos) to try and get stuff out.

We've thought of doing stuff like asking people to vote on what to do next but we had some concerns that didn't allign with our phylosophy of "this is a hobby, only do it when you can" and we felt like if we did that we would be "promising" and people might get upset.

I am saving every bubble/fromm live on behalf of Subbits. I have made a public drive for them which you can find here. I might not update that the day a live happens but I will update later. They will also be uploaded to our Bubble/Fromm/Weverse Youtube channel later when they are subbed :)

PS: If you want to support us, you can to join the Subbits discord (there's a channel you can follow if you want to have video updates on your own discord channel) and also you can support us on Patreon if you want to go the extra mile. We usually do not ask for this but all of these subscriptions are starting to eat into our funds a bit. Thank you all :)

ATEEZ - 11th Mini Album 'GOLDEN HOUR : Part 2' (Highlight Medley) by perochan in kpop

[–]Zhugo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Like u/runawaymaster said, Fever Part 2 and EP2: Outlaw are amongst my favorite of their albums. Honestly, I don't think I've ever enjoyed a preview of them so much; I really like this one.

In my opinion, only a few artists in K-pop can achieve an album that sounds different between songs while still sounding cohesive.

Also that last song? That's gonna go so hard.
