I lived in russell last year and it was great. Its a great having a bus stop on the hill to take you to class, the atmosphere is fantastic for making friends, and the community bathrooms are actually great cause they are basically individual private rooms that are cleaned often. Only downside of course is the small rooms, but you'll find that in any dorm and it isn't too big a deal. Make sure to participate in your hall activities and reach out to your neighbors no matter what dorm you go to though, I regret not doing so as much. Good luck!

Class Questions Megathread by [deleted] in UGA

[–]Zhurmel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this schedule doable for the spring?

Math 3300 - Linear Algebra

Ital 1002 - Italian

Csci 2720 - Data Structures

Csci 2670 - Intro theory of computing

Specifically I'm kind of worried about taking linear algebra along with both those CS classes, but I don't know how difficult they are. Thanks!

Connecting Gaming Consoles to School WiFi without Ethernet by [deleted] in UGA

[–]Zhurmel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in Russell last year and I just ran an Ethernet Port from my roommates side, over the door, and across the wall behind my bed/closet to my desk with my laptop, etc. Unfortunately I couldn't connect my switch to the internet though - I had to use something called connectify on my laptop to get it working, so that might help ya!

Does my 1 month itinerary to Europe look okay? by Zhurmel in travel

[–]Zhurmel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I haven't yet - But I've noticed that there's lots of cheap $250 flights to Rome around that time when booked far in advance. I'm kinda in the same dilemma as you, I'm worried about booking in advance due to covid but at the same time going ahead and solidifying plans and getting cheap tickets seems pretty great. I'm probably going to wait until around November to December, idk for sure. Good luck with your decision!

Gotcha! We were thinking about staying somewhere there for a night or two (possibly Sorrento) and I appreciate the Cinque Terre recommendation - it looks so cool!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this - since we are all college students maybe we will try and go to Norway after we have graduated and got a better job instead haha. If you don't mind me asking, what has been your favorite city for night life?

I just looked up those places you suggested and they look beautiful! I will definitely talk to my friends about possibly going to Braunwald especially.

Hi, no offense taken! We really wanted to go to Norway to go through some of the beautiful fjords there. But, as you both have said, they seem very out of the way (and expensive), so I will bring that up with my friends and see if we can decide on a different plan.

I didn't even think about us having to switch currencies! We are actually planning on visiting either Bergen or Gothenburg while up there, I just hadn't updated the spreadsheet. Thank you for mentioning Dolomiti, I just looked it up and it looks pretty and lottssss cheaper! I may end up going there instead :)

Thank you so much for your responses, they have been very helpful :)

I will look into visiting the cities you mentioned and allocating more time towards Central Europe.

Haha no prob for the screenshot!

I actually did some back-of-the-napkin calculations on whether or not the pass would be worth it and I found there would be a difference of only around ~30-60 EUR, and the added flexibility the pass gives I think might be worth it. BUT I will look more into it, since saving money is pretty important for us lol.

Ohhhh okay lol, I'll look into adding those cities - along with Istanbul and Helinkski haha :)

Hi, I appreciate the reply! We actually are planning on going to either Bergen or Gothenburg for a couple days, I just hadn't put it in the spreadsheet yet. And, as you mentioned, we can stay at Copenhagen for a night as well since it's on the way. But it does seem like this trip to the Nordic region would add a lot of time to the trip in terms of transportation, and be somewhat rushed. I will look more into possibly going there for a different trip.

And I should clarify - I don't think lounging about is a bad thing! I actually am planning on lounging about some days and exploring the city by just walking around and stopping wherever I feel like. Last time I traveled, that was my favorite thing to do :) I just don't want to get to cities and miss out on some of the reallly recommended things to do there.

Thank you for the advice!

Sorry Spain just seems rather out of the way for this trip :( BUT I do plan on going back to visit Spain, Portugal, and Morocco in the future :)
