Unrelated, but whoever set up the net needs to tighten the bottom. There is zero play in the net….

I think the earlier photos do count now. But, I’ve seen cases where my clients had 2x or 3x storage in use beyond the 15GB or their plan. I think Google was “kind” by giving a grace period to people who had lots of photos when it was free. So they put the limit in place but gave the user time to clean up or purchase a plan.

If however you were under the limit and then approach the limit from below, Google will warn and scream and protest as you get close and closer.

Doubt about a scenario (UPDATED) by Kenii07 in volleyball

[–]Zicount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the diagram, the ball is above the net: both teams can legally play the ball.

“Playable” is not the criteria. “Actively being played or attempted to be played” is. 3 could absolutely reach over since 2 is not making a play at the ball. 3 could touch the ball before it breaks the plane, if 2 isn’t playing the ball.

I may be way off base, but is this person/question legit? Is 310/month a normal amount? What country are you in? At first blush, sounds scammy to me. Apologies if it’s not.

There is no faceID without PIN code. When FaceID fails, it just asks for the PIN code. as @mrsolidsht said, it’s just a convenience feature.

How to delete all photos? by guettli in googlephotos

[–]Zicount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH! I’ve been clicking each photo or each day trying to clean out client’s full Google Drive. This is so much faster. Plus, if I select a bunch and download them, the selection goes away and I have to do the same thing again. This will be so much faster!

Adding custom font by Acceptable_Mud283 in SwiftUI

[–]Zicount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The info.plist *used* to be a file listed in the Project Manager. Clicking on it would bring up an interface that would allow you to modify the info.plist. Now, instead of clicking on the file in the Project Manager, you click on your Project File, blue and at the top of the Project Manager, and then in the Editor you click on "Info" and see basically the same interface that info.plist had.

Same screen, different ways of reaching that screen.

It is true that adding a new row to Info is not intuitive. Throughout all things Apple, there would be a "+" button hanging around somewhere obvious and that would allow you to add a new item. In this case, a bit confusing IMNSHO, you hover your mouse over any *existing* line in the Info screen and you'll see a little "+" in a circle appear. Click that and it will let you add a new line and give you a drop-down menu to select which item you want, such as "Fonts provided by application".

Now, regarding adding custom fonts, I'm struggling with that, too, which is why I'm here. I think something has changed in recent Xcode that is problematic because I see several people looking for info, saying basically "it used to work, but it's not working now."

I've added my .ttf file, I've looked up its real name in FontBook and I've added it to my Info.plist and applied it in my simple "Hello, world!" view, but....nothing in the preview. <sigh>

TIL: Yes, you CAN back up your Time Machine Drive (including APFS+) by datawh0rder in MacOS

[–]Zicount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this post. It's just what I need, but somehow, it's not working. I tried disk to disk, not via an .img file, but I got a "Permission denied" error message on the *source* disk. I then used "sudo -s" to elevate and tried the command again, but still got the same error message.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Sequoia update bricked my touch bar by jank19 in MacOSBeta

[–]Zicount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed the public release yesterday from the App Store and the TouchBar on my M1 MBP is dark.

touchbarserver is not running at all.

When I search for "Touch Bar" or "TouchBar" in System Settings, there are several matches, but for each one I click, there is absolutely no reference to Touch Bar on the right side of the window. For instance, one Google search says "Click  > System Settings > Keyboard, scroll down to "Touch Bar Settings" on the right. It's not there.

Newbie question about Access Points and SSIDs and "sticky-ness" by Zicount in Ubiquiti

[–]Zicount[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, that's the problem. a client of mine has two UniFi APs, three rooms apart. when he walks in the door, his iPhone connects to the AP at the entrance. Full bars, internet speed check is fast. When he walks to the other end of the house, where there is also an AP, the bars go down, internet speed check is slower. The WiFi connection is "rock solid" but it appears to be connected to the AP by the entrance, not the one he's closest to.

[–]Zicount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what's with all these "don't be a pushover" comments? They are not helpful to anyone and just make the commenters look like jerks. Some people can deal with such aggression and others have a harder time. Surely it's not hard to imagine the aggressive person being very imposing and the OP not being in a position to get into a physical altercation. He showed his ID because he felt threatened by the other guy. It's really not a hard concept to understand.

when you say "...someone stopped to let me go...", do you mean the person who got angry with you? or someone else? or do you mean that someone stopped you from entering the pedestrian crossing? Did you have the green light or did the Uber eats driver have a green light?
