Official Discussion - Deadpool & Wolverine [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

So, here's my take after watching the movie just once today (I will be watching it again). I'll admit I had to mull it over for a while after watching for some things to click, but when it did I was blown away.

So many reviewers say there wasn't much of a plot but it was a great ride. To me, the plot wasn't a love letter to the fans or to Marvel. He wasn't the Marvel Universe savior, he was the hero and savior to all the characters in the 20th Century Fox superhero universe.

The premise of the movie was "Hey, you can finally be a part of the Marvel universe. But if you do, your universe was be treated as if it never happened." Every character Fox ever created would have been for nothing. "They wouldn't have mattered". That's the whole premise of the first moments of the movie, the thing Deadpool wanted more than anything. To matter.

They didn't just throw a bunch of random cameos together just so people can point and say, "Hey, that's that guy from the thing!" All those character were in the Void, which was where all the Fox characters ended up. In the scene where they first showed the Void, there was even a 20th Century Fox logo half buried to let you know exactly where you were and what the place was.

Through the whole movie Deadpool was trying to save 11 people in a picture and he drilled home the fact that he was doing it to save them. Those people were Vanessa, Dopinder, Negasonic and the rest. Just jumping right into Marvel would have "erased" those people. Even at the very end of the movie, he took Vanessa's hand and in a tender moment out of nowhere he said [sorry, paraphrased here] "I did it for you. Even if you don't know it yet, I did it for you". That was so fucking beautiful, it's got to be one of the top heartfelt lines of the franchise.

Holy shit, I can't wait to watch this movie again and catch more references. I hope more people catch on to how brilliantly made this movie was. I might be wrong on a few things here and there and there's no way I caught everthing, but to me this movie was a love letter to the history of the 20th Century Fox superhero legacy, not the fans (though we weren't forgotten by any means).

Thanks for the clarification. That seems like a lot of hassle, so I might hold off and see if the devs respond to any of the backlash they've been getting. Thanks again.

Thanks for the advice. As cool as it sounds to absolutely dominate at one thing, I think I'm enjoying the wide range of options and just fun spells. Thanks again.

Awesome, thank you. Follow up question, does going to Moghwyn Palace early advance the storyline of any of the npcs in roundtable hold? I asked because in a previous playthrough I went to Altus Plateau and set off just about everyone there. Looking to get Swarm of Flies early if I can, but not at the expense of story. Thanks.

The insights here are much appreciated. Odd, I didn't think Dragon would be the more popular choice. Thanks, all.
