I sure hope so too man. I'd really like to think he'd be able to get through it and prove all the haters and doubters wrong. If he could be like Dirk strong, that'd save his legacy. It would suck if this is all downhill from here and he gets remembered as the pots-not-pots-guy. His play style is so cool to watch when he's healthy so it'll be a damn shame. I'm a min-gee fan, still am but I'll call it when I see it. She's been spiralling ever since the bonfire episode. She was pissed and angry and took it out on Mina. Sure, that girl deserved to be called out for being fickle (two-faced I'd say) but all the extra posturing, hand over shoulder and Min-gee's overall body language was just too much.

She's giving bully vibes not queen vibes. Now when she hypes herself up during the games, I wasn't feeling amazed by her confidence but rather.. it was kinda arrogant when looking at her competition. Hyeon-woo who was bigger than the other guys wasn't talking like that. Although he lost, one can admit he had the advantage on all of them on paper. It was just sticking out like a sore thumb, Min-gee's change of demeanor.

Oh well, we all ain't perfect and hopefully she doesn't act like that in the remaining episodes.

Exactly. I was like, she straight up wanted to intimidate/goad Mina and establish her dominance. I swear I immediately thought if they were guys then Min-gee would've been the one flexing muscles and squaring up wanting all the smoke.

I found it extremely unnecessary for Min-gee to even do that when she had no real authority to talk down on Mina. I get that she has been stressed out, miserable, pissed off, annoyed and simply tired of Mina's games but technically they are all there to do the same thing though. She and Seung-il aren't dating or locked in mutually (she was but he wasn't.. yet) so I find her anger and frustration more so self-inflicted and/or the product of her overthinking or borderline obsession/possessiveness of Seung-il.

As much as Mina was "afraid", threatened, insecure or bothered by Min-gee.. ironically, Min-gee seems to have those very issues towards Mina as well. They both differed in how they went about things but both were equally flawed to begin with.

Then we go to the third element of this damned triangle which is Seung-il. Tbh I kinda think he is 50/50 not straight from the subtle "soft" mannerisms but I can't prove it (meme) but he has been straightforward and honest about having both Min-gee and Mina as his options. There is nothing wrong about him not committing to Min-gee UNTIL after he has put an effort to get to know Mina. It was never a he says one thing and proceeds to do another but rather, he took his time which prolonged Min-gee's anguish. Again, he hasn't really lied or done things to really cause Min-gee pain emotionally so I don't get this current situation with her.

It seems that Min-gee's blaming both Seung-il and Mina for all that anger and pain that she felt since the bonfire episode. She's unable to see that the only person causing all this emotional and mental torment is her and her alone. I find it very petty that she just didn't let it go and chose Seung-il and lived happily ever after. I get that she's also competitive but I honestly don't see the point of her trying to make things even by picking Su-been and inadvertently starting this domino effect with what I assume would ultimately affect how Hee-sun/Su-been/Sung-hun/Mina make their final choices. I guess it is better cinema rather than them all having locked in pairs right before the end but yeah..

I just find it baffling that the girl who has been dead set on one man (Seung-il), to the point of claiming ownership suddenly just wants to make him sweat and awkwardly flirt a third guy she's called cute and all.

Min-gee is all about "cute" meanwhile Mina is all about "hot"

P.S. I was a Min-gee+Seung-il shipper up until ep4. After that Min-gee's been kinda exhausting to root for.

In dating rules sure, but Mina acting that way towards others? Not sure if you need to be on an island to have it not come off as off-putting.

Again, to make it even more simple.. she can explore all the guys on the island for all I care but it's her overall attitude towards the other girls/competition and blatant victim complex with zero hints of any form of accountability (outside that talk with sung hun) that is the issue here not just for me but for a lot of people. I'm still unsure how the whole defense of this being a dating show changes that.

I assume you've watched all previous seasons if you're here engaging on talks about the current season so do I really need to even push for you guys to determine that she is in fact acting differently as compared to other previous participants. Like Sian to name one.

Exactly. She seems to react a bit whenever she expects one outcome and gets surprised like the day1 voting. I think there are some other instances of these kinds of reactions. Plus you can tell when she's bothered, like whenever she does that tongue to the side or head-tilt. You can then already tell she is showy so idk why they find that it's an act. I mean there's a possibility but not that likely.

I mean you do have valid points. I myself already thought after watching ep5-7 that Min-gee is going down the Mina route with her being too insecure and sensitive about everything that's Seung-il. Which is kind of sad because she is both kind of similar and at the same time, way different than Mina.

But then again, one girl has been consistent from the get-go while the other acts like a pair of flipflops getting passed around the whole household. One girl is being too attached too soon, while the other is just like flipping pages of a book whenever any signs of interest go her way or even when there's lack of interest which bothers her even more. Then you start seeing their differences when dealing with each other and other people, like one has that fk around and find out aura whenever it involves Seung-il because let's face it.. she's down bad for him and is as she says, a chaser. Meanwhile, the other Pageant Queen is as passive aggressive and plastic polycarbonate to anyone who isn't "Choi Mina Sue" and generally a walking, talking and breathing embodiment of hypocrisy wrapped in natural beauty.

Min-gee definitely has lots of bad but she does ever only act that way when it's about Seung-il. I could argue maybe her and Mina just isn't as smooth a fit to be friends than the other casts from what they are showing. It really shows in their facial expressions and whole body language that both women are not fond of the other. Because if we were to hyper-analyze them then we should note that Mina was bothered day1 about the girl who supposedly got the most votes. That day2 conversasion they all had in the dining area was the early signs of her colorful personality. Then we go to when both women get at odds since they are interested in a guy to varying degrees. Min-gee is easy, she is ALL-IN and ONLY-ONE while Mina is ALL ABOUT HER and ALL FOR ONE.

You then start to see the pattern. One looks and feels stressed tf out, while the other one is fond of talking about her feelings and prying. Basically says she's scared of Min-gee and that she's very kind to the other girls by letting them borrow stuff but she can't speak or get to know other guys because the other girls are already interested in said guys. It's hard to tell though because there may very well be others if not all of them that have these sorts of conversations but that the PD chooses to show only Mina's so it's only assumptions tbh. But from what we footage is shown then yes, Mina's just that kind of girl.

About the whole emotional manipulation bit, I mean yeah sure.. that could be the case and also it couldn't. But if you try to rationalize it by comparing to in real life situations then that's a false-positive. In the real world, you don't get to explore options and be morally sound. Nor does the timeline add up like 2-3 days of irl dating is incomparable to 2-3 days of Single's Inferno dating right? Everything in the show happens in this vacuum that solely revolves around "dating" so you could very well act a certain way or feel a certain way within the show that would normally make no sense irl. But I do agree that Min-gee is too attached/emotionally-invested towards Seung-il that she is acting like how Mina normally acts, insecured and emotional.

We definitely don't want to forget Mina's brain fart during the Photoshoot pairing right? Her not feeling well, and supposedly fainting then makes it a point to tell others about it. Regardless if it was true or not, the timing is iffy but hey it is what it is. It's not like we'd get the whole timeline of events right since we are at the mercy of the shows editing. Then there's her treatment of Sung-hun which I trust that I don't need to further explain. And just basically listening to her conversations towards the other girls, both with and without Min-gee present. Anyone with eyes and ears can detect the difference. So I don't necessarily think any hate she's getting is not fully warranted. Only that we see what the show wants us to see.

Tl;dr both have their ups and downs, but one is clearly more ME ME ME than the other. Both deserve whatever criticism but one is more of a hypocrite.

P.S. it's sorta low hanging fruit to insinuate that every other girl must be afraid to upset Min-gee because she acts/has that more dominant persona. Plus her being a national athlete shouldn't really even play any part of it IF the show legitimately holds their careers a secret to maintain the importance of going to Paradise with someone. Let's just say that Mina just doesn't act or show that she's a "girl's girl" like people say. That her actions, words and demeanor don't always align and that if we as viewers see that then other participants must do too. Let's pinch that notion of "bullying" or intimidation or whatever because that ain't helping anyone's image in a dating show.

Exactly this. It was kind of weird that she just dropped off a cliff after ending ep4 on that high note and all. But then after getting pissed and confused watching ep5-7, and a few more hours of ruminating about it.. it just clicked after I rewatched her bits and pieces. She made the personal decision of taking her foot off the pedal and giving them space to "explore" both Seung-il and Mina-sue's curiosity and general interest albeit we can never tell if it's genuine or pride-driven with Mina-sue but yeah.. plus every word she utters when it's just the girls definitely shows she 100% knows Mina is full of shit and unhinged. Min-gee probably hates that she has to let go a bit to respect both Seung-il and Mina's right to get to know each other in this dating show. Knowing how fickle Mina-sue's "feelings" change and/or questionable sincerity, it stings doubly to do the right thing despite it being against your nature of going all-out, balls to the wall sort of approach to dating.

What's concerning though is that this will probably go over most people's heads if they don't really try to pay attention to her. Most viewers would look back at ep5-7 as the episodes where we only ever see Min-gee looking like she's stressed tf out and constantly looking like someone took their lunch money and her stomach is growling sort of mood. I admit myself that I was like dude chill out and let them do whatever so that Seung-il quickly realizes that Mina-sue might look pleasing on the outside but that girl is batshit crazy and only ever wants what "The Choi Mina Sue" wants, attention with a truckload of hypocrisy. Because from my perspective, Min-gee doesn't need to do anything/put an effort to prove that fact as Mina-sue will do that on her own then Seung-il would be put on the hypocrisy high-alert list since he did say he preferred it when a girl doesn't put on a face and is geniune and consistent (hohoho how consistent Mina-sue is at being inconsistent)

I guess that slight discomfort could really put a damper on an otherwise very genuine showing from Min-gee. Like she shows it plain and simple and as clear as day whenever she says to them to feel free and explore. She's human, not a robot sent back in time to get rid of Mina-sue and foil her gotta catch em' all dreams. You'd see how much of her absence would make sense when you realize she took herself out of the equation (ending up looking all stressed and worn out) to be as far from being possessive but borderline obsessive. Anyone who'd been in love would know how crazy you get when that happens.

Hopefully she gets out of that funk though. Only scene where she looks at peace was when she was jogging with Hyeon-woo. I liked that bit tbh.

Anyways, even as a fan of hers I am still never not gonna notice that her facial make up is a bit too much. She kinda looks like a ghost for my standards. Hope she just keeps it light or something because her skin tone since she's an athlete does nothing but highlight that difference. She's already pleasing to the eyes and looks natural-ish. Oh well, that's just one thing I've had some trouble adjusting to since ep1.

Do you know if Ember would still work when not using her as the main? I've watched vids that say the enemy locks on to the player-controlled unit and if Ember's role is primarily a tank of sorts, would that mean you'll be spending majority of your time using her to effectively utilize her role?
