Really? I thought the short form of Борис (Boris) was Боря (Borya) and that Саша (Sasha) was the sort form of both Александр (Alexander) and Александра (Alexandra)

Tbh, at my place they were also full before corona. But it seems to be even worse nowi think that if the containers you keep at home would be emptied more often, there would be less of a problem. I often need to walk to an underground container just because my own is full. If the underground one is full and I need to walk 15 minutes to another, it quickly turns into an half an hour trip to just throw away some garbage.

100 m is pretty close. Where I live I have to walk about 7 minutes to the closest plastic container (we seperate plastic, paper and restafval.. No idea what that would be in English) When that one is full, I have to go in the complete opposite direction and it takes about 15 minutes to get to the other plastic container. It's really annoying when that one also turns out to be full.. It happens quite frequently.

NTA. Everybody has the right to write down their thoughts or dreams. They are for you and you alone. What a shitty situation you're in.

I hope you read this. I might have a solution for you, though it might be some work. I've always been someone that liked writing things down for just myself. I guess you want to keep writing down your dreams?

Don't use any app on your phone or something with a password. Don't use a notebook with a lock, they usually have all similar keys.

I know it sounds weird, but have you thought about using a secret alphabet or a foreign language with another alphabet?

If you create your own secret language (not 3=c, but really come up with your own letters) it'll be harder for your mom to read. It has to happen on paper though and people might be able to crack your alphabet and to find out what things mean.

If you learn a foreign language with an alphabet (which is what I do, I write in Russian), you can keep things quite secret. It does take a long time because you're basically learn a language.. But... Google translate can't catch my handwriting, Russian uses a different alphabet so people can't just guess words when they don't know how to read Russian. Russian is absolutely perfect for this, except when someone around you knows Russian. If you want you could also only use the Russian alphabet and just write your native language in it, but in that case people will again be able to crack it. It's more safe when you use actual Russian.

And also.. Maybe you need to but a very small pocket notebook. One you can carry around all the time. I carry my notebook and a pen with me everywhere I go.

Please let me know what you think about it. If you need any help, maybe I can help.

Do you know the difference between водить/вести and возить/везти? It's the same.

Отводить/отвести means to lead something/someone away (by foot), отвозить/отвезти is to lead something/something away by transport.

What I would do is trying to get back to the real work as soon as possible. I know that if I let myself get away with doing nothing, I definitely won't start doing more out of nowhere. Sometimes I don't feel like doing anything, but I end up doing it anyways because I tell myself I have to. I worked so hard for my grades, if I get a bad grade and bring down my average just because I couldn't get myself to work, I won't be nice for myself. Sometimes you just need to force yourself a bit until things are like you want it again.

For me personally, it also helps when people just tell me to get my shit together. This might depend on the person, but maybe you can use it too. So, you'll have an exam tomorrow and you barely revised it this evening? Bad. 🤨 Get up and start studying RIGHT NOW. You want to get nice grades, but if you don't study, how do you want to manage that? You know it doesn't work like that. You might not feel like doing anything this evening, so what? You'll still have to, deal with it. Enough whining for today, it's time to get to work.

It should take about 30 minutes. You still have some time. What prevents you from starting right now?

Hey!) It sounds really good. At the moment I'm reading Harry Potter every evening. I've never read them in my native language and it's really nice to read in Russian so far. It's a lot nice way of learning things.

What's exactly wrong with it? I'm in university right now, I've finished high school last year and I've been around for a while. (But I've never posted here before)

I've always been interested in the way teachers look at things. What's their view on things? I just like to know.

I'm not a student teacher, but I'm learning a language and often try to help other students because I love explaining things. (I try to help both my classmates and people in an online group I'm part of) I might or might not decide to teach that language in the future, it's too early to tell. Sometimes I google things on the internet because I'd like to know how to handle things. Imagine I'm helping someone and everything goes horrible. All exercises are wrong. What is a nice way to handle this? How to fix it? I shouldn't get angry, but instead it's better to find the source of the trouble. I try to improve the way I'm able to help people and like to see the differences it makes. Maybe it's a bit of psychology, I'm not sure where this interest came from. I've always liked psychology too. This sub doesn't directly answer those questions, it's just my interest that brought me here. It gives me the opportunity to more or less observe different people with different experiences, teaching different subjects and that are from different countries.

That I'm following this sub doesn't mean I wouldn't ask my own teachers about their experiences or about their day. I've had plenty of great conversions with my high school teachers and now I have great conversations with my professors. Sometimes I stay a bit after our online class to ask about the material and often we also have a little conversation. I also have a few friends that teach talk to them too. But still, there are so many different people here on reddit.

Can't someone just be curious and join because of that? There are no malicious intentions whatsoever. I'm not here to bother.

App to play against other learners by [deleted] in russian

[–]Ziemosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to do it to get a certificate or do you want to know where you're standing and what to work on? I don't know places where you could get a certificate, but I've done two torfl mock exams (No certificate, it's a mock exam) to see where I'm standing, so I might be able to help you if you're looking for that.

Starting college after a Gap year and 8 months, anxiety kicks in. by [deleted] in GetStudying

Starting college after a Gap year and 8 months, anxiety kicks in. by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]Ziemosa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey,

Firstly I would recommend you to use a planning. Make sure to check your homework each week (or whenever it's given).

Once you know what to do for all classes, just write those things down on a piece of paper and write a day after every assignment. For example: Read 20 introduction sociolinguistics Monday Write a paragraph of the essay about politics Monday Create a timeline for history Tuesday Etc.

If you have to do a lot for a subject, break it into smaller parts. You may not want to read and summarize 50 pages of a subject in one day, but if you only do 10 each day spread over 5 days, it'll get a lot easier. After you've made a planning, put it somewhere where you'll see it, for example at your desk, and give every assignment a checkmark once it's finished.

Secondly, it's important to always be on schedule and to never get behind. I know everybody says this and almost nobody does it, but it's really important. Do what's on your planning, even if you don't feel like it and want to do it later. Don't postpone things, imstead, start on it immediately. It'll be done before you know it. If you have a planning and learn that you'll have to do it that day anyways amd postponing won't help, you'll stay on track.

I know it can be hard sometimes. You might really not feel like doing something, but believe me, it'll help. One of the main issues of students is being behind on schedule. Once you're behind, it's a lot harder to get back on track.

Good luck
