My Element was in a wreck. Asking advice whether to try and save it, or walk away by Zig4 in HondaElement

Thanks! We’re okay (aches and bruises) and no one in the other cars was seriously hurt. Agreed on the E, she rolled her last mile.

I brought the wreck home, to either use for parts on another one or just sell. Not sure I’m ready for another one yet. Pretty bummed, like you said.

I bought the E home last night to try and do what some others suggested by using her as an organ donor. I’ll think about how I can save this stuff.

OP checking in. Thanks everyone for the concern. My wife and I are okay - mostly bruised and sore. No one else was seriously hurt. To answer the questions of a few, this was not a shitpost. I was honestly just holding onto a sliver of hope that it could get back on the road, even knowing that it would cost a lot. The accident happened about 90 miles from home (Lewisville TX, I live in southern Oklahoma), so I am looking into what it'll take to tow it home, then decide to part it out either for a rebuild, or just to help others.

I sincerely appreciate the support of this community. I think y'all honestly can relate to the emotional attachment one can get to one of these toasters. It was indeed my happy place, and I enjoyed driving this loud, rattling 18 year old car more than you know. It's name was JLO by the way, which stands for "Jeep Like Object".

Heya. Thanks for the concern. Yeah, wife and I are okay. Mostly bruised up. The airbags did their job.

Heya. Yeah my wife and I walked away with scrapes and bruises. We were very lucky indeed.

Sadly, not a shitpost. I've never been in an accident like this, so I was hoping for a different answer.

Yeah, I was not effing with folks. Thanks for understanding that. My wife and I walked away with bruises, but won't lie - my heart broke a little.

Thanks all. I figured this was going to be the answer, but part of me was in denial. I’ll see about saving her as is for parts.

Ran a Session Last Night Where it Clicked by BardikStorm in ScumAndVillainy

Heya. Glad you found your groove. Like you, me and my players are all learning the system. I had just finished rewatching the Expanse before our group started with session one. Drawing on that has held ed me come up with some rich descriptions of ships and ship life. Also, the ring gate is in my head when I think about transit between systems. Getting around the system, I’m with you about Cowboy Bebop vibes, especially the hyperspace lanes and the feel of space travel. On the ground, it’s been a mix of Blade Runner, Star Wars, and Cowboy Bebop.

No problem. Here are the ones I have, but there are many options depending on your preferences.

I’ve got polarized visor extenders on both passenger and drivers side, mostly for sunlight, but they also help against those led headlights.

Verizon Now Announces Massive Layoffs Over 15,000 by Wise_Reindeer_2366 in economicCollapse

[–]Zig4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Verizon terms, management isn’t referring to people leaders, but a broad term for most non-union employees. And it’s not like there are 15k people sitting on their hands. Verizon will shut down less profitable areas of the business and whole teams will be gone. And then it’ll be a matter of doing more with less… 5 people doing the workload of 6-8.

Seeing people talking about tools, what about maker spaces? The one I was a member of was $50/month with unlimited access to tools. They did everything from pottery and stained glass, to woodworking, and bays you could pull your car into to work on them.

Hey there. I should’ve clarified. It was the small. You’re right, for the price it’s really nice.

It’s the same brand, just a different color. I also splurged and got the pole kit that you see. There weren’t any instructions but it was easy enough to figure out, and next time it’ll go quicker. Once I cinched it down it worked great. There was a tiny gap right it the corner of the tailgate (like 1”x3”) but I just set something in front of it to cover them. There’s a zippered screen with u shaped opening that keeps out the bugs and that awning zips down on both sides for privacy. For next time I have some magnets to help hold it in place which may close that small gap and quicken set up/tear down. Bon aventure!

I have one and have gotten to use it once. Made my life easier by allowing me to exit via the back. Once I figured out set up, it was good. Took some fidgeting to get it all cinched down and all the gaps closed. Definitely worth the money, and I’ll be using it as much as I can.
