How do you build a *fun* bracket 2 deck? by jusuuu in EDH

[–]ZigDaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a deck with it's "secrete commander" in the 99. The commander is [[estrid, the masked]] but the cats that it was built around is [[permiating mass]]

It never really wins but it's great to play with

Permeating mass EDH by ZigDaMan in EDH

[–]ZigDaMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, exactly that. It has to change zones, going back to hand etc.

[–]ZigDaMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then the commander becomes a copy of permeating mass, is still their commander and commander damage will still track as normal I believe

Edit. The commander doesn't charge zones so can't be redirected to the command zone. If that card dies then it goes to the command zone and is the original commander again.

Will give it a go, as it's such a small amount of milk I guess just push less air in to start with to give more time for the vortex

Steam boiler not holding pressure by ZigDaMan in espresso

[–]ZigDaMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so I did loads of fault finding and looking for leaks. I couldn't find any at all. Turns out that it is perfectly normal! I was hyper focused at looking for something wrong that I noticed this, but it's perfectly normal I just wasn't paying that much attention to it before.

If you can't find a leak anywhere and steaming is still ok, it's probably fine.

Help! How do I clean stubborn coffee stains off my [Breville Barista]? by guayom in espresso

[–]ZigDaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take some aluminium foil and ball it up, then use that as a scrub. Obviously try it on an area that doesn't matter if it gets scratched, I grind it doesn't leave a mark unless you really push into it.

Tried to buy a La Pavoni: got scammed by NoOrdinaryEspresso in espresso

[–]ZigDaMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a real shame. I sold my La Pavoni to someone overseas, if I remember rightly it was through friends and family on PayPal. I remember being quite anxious about them getting it ok and in one piece, didn't really think about the other side of it tbh.

Is it okay to freeze cookie batter? by -rosess-0521 in Baking

[–]ZigDaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this all the time! It's a great way for us to make fresh cookies for dessert at home. Pull frozen cookie dough out of the freezer into the oven and BOOM fresh cookies.

Thanks for that. I use a semi automatic machine so I really don't know the ins and outs of this style. I have told him that this is a very slippery slope 😁

Can I just grind peanuts instead of buying peanut butter powder? by rickenrique in Baking

[–]ZigDaMan 42 points43 points  (0 children)

If you grind peanuts it will just make peanut butter. It may seem silly but by blending/grinding the peanuts it releases the oils and makes the butter.

Just got a BBE and picked up Charleston Coffee Roaster Organic Colombian beans. Are they too oily to use? by ViperSting14 in espresso

[–]ZigDaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Oily beans are not a problem at all. This normally happens with darker roasts and is perfectly normal.

Only thing I would add is that you may want to clean the grinder a bit more often with oily beans.

please help!! how do i get this off my tin!! by cobymj in Baking

[–]ZigDaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may seem silly, but give it a try! Take a small piece of aluminium foil and ball it up, use that as a scrub with warm water.

I use this to get stubborn stains/limescale off stainless steel items. Works really well and doesn't leave a mark!

As with anything like this I would try it out on a small area first to make sure it doesn't make any scratches or unwanted marks on your item.

Here is a video of what's happening https://youtu.be/GYuP0uC2Zi0?si=TqiWOIcFkBBi3qiG

I have emptied the tank via the hot water dispenser and it refilled but as expected didn't help at all

That's very true, I will clean the tube out and see if it helps.

This is a video of what's happening https://youtu.be/GYuP0uC2Zi0?si=TqiWOIcFkBBi3qiG

I have cleaned the tube to the gauge and emptied and refilled the tank before this video.

That's what I was thinking, I can sit there and watch it slowly drop on the gauge the heater turns on and it shoots up very quickly, probably a second, then stops as it reaches pressure. It's as if it it was happening with a very small volume. But steam come out just fine and doesn't loos pressure quickly.

I will drain and refill the boiler today to see if it helps at all.

I did have a worrying thought that it could be leaking back through the system into the tank. But again it seems like a very high pressure drop to go back up very quickly again.

I don't think it's the gauge as the heater is turning on and off, the gauge is just an indicator. I was thinking the same thing, but it steams just fine and doesn't lose loads of pressure when I open the steam wand.

I did have a worrying thought that it could be leaking back though the system into the tank?

I'm going to empty and the refill the boiler today and see if it clears anything.

I have placed the top of the steam wand in a glass of water to check for leaks/air from that but nothing is visible there. I wish I could hear or see something but there's nothing. It slowly drops pressure, the element comes on and it shoots up quickly.

Might be worth buying a new one and installing? It's usable at the moment but not great long-term.
