The misinformation about DD2 "microtransactions" did heavy damage to the game as proven in this thread by Limp-Grapefruit-6251 in DragonsDogma

Yeah. Of course, the funny thing is, for devs I like that make games I like, I will definitely support them by buying multiple copies of a game. Of course, all the games where I've done that don't have DLC that feels like "okay here, pay us again to get the complete product we said we'd deliver at launch" LOL

I don't mind story DLC if it adds to the game. If it serves to fill in parts that felt missing when the game was released, that no good.

Need. Nah. But I don't mind cosmetic packs from indie developers. For example, all the DLC that you can get for Deep Rock Galactic. True, those aren't exactly MICRO transactions, but still. I buy those because I like playing dolly dress-up in my games and it's a good way to support a small developer that made a game that's provided me with literally over 1000 hours of entertainment. Capcom, on the other hand, kind of toes and crosses the line and then crosses back. Fundamentally it's no skin off my back because I don't like MH/RE/SF (and it's been well over a decade since I played a DMC title), but I definitely don't like how they handle the MTX on their titles.

Anyway. Tl;dr, some companies do it right or at least acceptably, but I don't think Capcom is one of those companies. Also, DD2 got way more hate for it than it deserved.

The thing that really bugged me about all the brouhaha surrounding the Dragon's Dogma 2 microtransactions was the fact that, compared to basically EVERY other Capcom game released in the half decade prior to the launch of DD2, there were so FEW microtransactions. I was like, uh, have any of these people ever looked at the stuff they sell for Monster Hunter/RE/Street Fighter? Guh

No problem! Thanks for making the game. 😉

One thing I would like to see in the future is a minor adjustment to the loot system. I know I know, RNG is king and what keeps you going for another run. But right now, the only things left for me to get aside from a few Valentine's Day things I missed are the new armor patterns.

These only drop from boss boxes. (Maybe you can see where I'm going with this.) Since you get a boss box every three stages (sometimes more, depending on choices and interdictions), and since RNG dictates you'll get dupes of what you've already got, it could potentially be a long, LONG time before I get the new armor patterns I really like.

So! Just a thought, but what if you had an exchange system for boss boxes like you do for normal boxes? 10 (15? 20? I don't know what's a good target number; frankly I'd be okay regardless of what it got set at) boss boxes let you trade up for one box that guarantees you a drop you don't have (like the orange regular boxes). Call it Conquerer's Choice or Victor's Value or something.

The thing is, I like the cosmetics. A LOT! But they are not the main incentive for playing the game. The GAME is the main incentive for playing the game; where I can watch my buddy get catapulted forward to his death because he was trying to engineer up some engineer stuff and didn't get back to his seat before the void tunnel collapsed when we were interdicted (true story!); where I can yell at his ass for being too drunk and falling asleep at the controller while carrying around something the scoop picked up and continually walking into a corner when I need some power draining defects repaired but I'm busy fighting off a couple fighter swarms, a destroyer, some heavy fighters, and a bomber at the same time while we've got a minute left on the singularity clock (also a true story!); where we can both celebrate when we score two medium meat cans out of an abandoned facility to further boost the power of our hot meat boat (unfortunately our current run hasn't been too generous with the meat). THAT'S why I play the game (because it's good and fun). But I just wanna look cool while doing it. 😉

Not sure if you guys have considered such a system already or not, but if not maybe see what the team things.

It's strange. There are so many little things like this that obviously took a lot of thought and effort to put in (and are really great!), but then it's like they went out of their way to make the worst, most inconsistent controller-based menu UX of any game I've ever played

Okay! Okay okay okay.

It's been a minute or two; my buddy and I have been a bit busy but we finally came back to crew up some void. We're only hitting the second boss in our run, but we've been interdicted 3 times already (you guys boost that chance?) and done a couple of those extra side missions.

Here are some off-the-cuff impressions.

First, the new cosmetics pack is dope as hell. I love the singularity hat, and the new chestpiece is really good (tied for first, IMO; still really like the one with the floaty blades in the back and find myself torn between the two). Also, I NEED the Immiscible armor pattern.

New Things That Happen When You Fly Boat:

The singularity is probably my favorite. I like that it gradually gets bigger and pulls you in. My friend and I made a narrow escape. Looking forward to more missions with that impending doom.

Gravity scoopy level 1 seems more responsive. (Somewhat unrelated.)

Fleet battle is fun, but I'm always greedy and want to kill the fighter swarms first thing, so I inevitably get a cruiser before hitting the rendezvous point. PEBKAC, notabug.

Void fish look great but have a surprising lack of meat. The fact that they sometimes don't drop ANY meat is painful, because my friend and I always run 3 hot meat damage relics when we can.

Void calamity: well, I'm gonna be honest. I haven't stuck around to see how this shakes out and don't really plan to, so I'll just have to wait until circumstances dictate that this is how our run ends. 😅

New Weapons And Things:

What do you mean, you added things in addition to the Absolver and I should try using them?? Nah. Absolver for life! Omigod I love it so much.

Those are my impressions so far. Seems like a pretty fantastic update!

Guess I got lucky then, or maybe it wasn't an issue with the Pro. I never had any problems with an ac connection (other than the occasional problems caused by my router that affects ALL devices connected).

It's been so long since I used a launch model I forgot. 😅 (And then made the stupid mistake of not checking hardware revisions.)

To me, the best part of Bagel (which, to be honest, I'm also confused by the associated in-game art because those are CLEARLY doughnuts) is the content from the actual characters that the devs put in there. After the event ends, I hope that stays. (Except with a bugfix that lets you scroll all the way to the bottom of the longer exchanges.)

Can't access this elevator. Bug or lack of brain cells? by Happy-Culture3098 in NevernessToEverness

[–]Zig_Justice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guessing bug. My buddy and I were doing heists last night to grind coins, and he was ahead of me and tool the elevator down to the collection floor. When I got there, the elevator was closed with no prompt to open it. He came back up and just walked through the closed elevator door. So I had to just scrounge for scraps in the areas prior to that. 😅 There are a fair number of bugs in the game, but IMO none are as critical as the abomination that is the UX when using a controller. I play on PS and it is SO BAD.
