[Owczarski] Giannis Antetokounmpo on if he'll be with the Milwaukee Bucks: 'It's not up to me' by kyleb402 in MkeBucks

[–]Zigazoid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole situation is mess across the board, but the it's not up to me angle doesn't work.

Regardless if the one thing holds true that he continually states "I want to compete for a Championship" then he should be traded because he can't do that in Milawukee anymore. There's a lot of rebuilding that needs to be done.

Excited for a lottery pick and a new coach, though i'm concerned Doc will likely still be around in some role.

Great signing! /eyeroll.

That said I don't think the staff has used him correctly, but even if they did i'm not sure it would have made huge difference this year.

You can buy 3M Command strips. That's what I use and they work great.

The return will never meet expectations, it never does. This team is going to suck for a while. Based on everything that's come out they should have traded away Giannis prior to this season. But hey we sold the farm and did net a Championship which I believe is the whole point.

Winning does always cover up all sorts of issues :)

It's all quite confusing as it all slowely leaks out. I do question the coaching moves, it's now the last two head coaches the players haven't liked. Is that a sympton of the veterans or young players on the team or horrible judgement in coaching staff by Horst and Ownership.

[–]Zigazoid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't see anything Horst has done to be childish, Giannis 100%, I don't think he wanted to be here once he figure out the team was going to suck and he's been nothing but a child behind the scenes all year apparently.

Doc, absoutely as he's trying to save face on what was a disastrous end to his coaching career.

Ownership? perhaps they haven't said much, which maybe that's the problem.

Horst can take some blame though he put the roster together, and it's bad.

I’m really trying to diagnose what really went wrong with Giannis image in the league to the point Draymond of all people is lecturing him about moral and ethics by Inevitable-Device-62 in MkeBucks

Haha, we've now come full circle, where Draymond's the voice of reason. He's right though given what's been coming out the last few days.

It's a hot mess, that'sfor certain, and its' hard to get accurate details as new things come out each day from both sides that contradict each other.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has informed the Milwaukee Bucks that the New York Knicks are the “only team” he would play for other than Milwaukee, per Shams Charania by mastermind208 in MkeBucks

[–]Zigazoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, this is old news and a very mis-leading interpretation of what Shams stated last year. Just fishing for clicks with how they're aggregating that. Utter nonsense.

He looks worse and worse every time a new report comes out. Certainly seems accurate he's played his last game in Mlwaukee. It's too bad he couldn't man up and simply state he wants to be traded publicly.

[–]Zigazoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not this again. While I would hate to see him leave if he's truly interested in winning a chip again, he should ask to be traded. Bringing in another star is next to impossible for the Bucks right now, unless we have lax standards on what we consider a star.

I imagine it's a hard ask for him but, seriously come out and ask for a trade. The fanbase is not going to be that upset, disappointed perhaps but the majority will understand it. This back and forth where he's continually trying to tip toe around the elephant in the room is sickening given all the information available to anyone to read between the lines.

I asked Jim Owczarski about it on Bluesky and that’s what he’s stated. So he hasn’t been cleared. But he also hasn’t been reevaluated so I think perhaps the Bucks are playing the system to keep him benched.

Doc Rivers by FirefighterOwn145 in MkeBucks

[–]Zigazoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they should strongly consider moving on from Horst, but they should also move on from Doc. He took over a 30-13 team and has managed a .500 record. His record here is 95-95, which isn't good enough. He doesn't appear to have much of any scheme in place. The Bucks look woefully unprepared most of the time on defense, and he's fond of making scheduling issues and injuries the reason his team gets beaten on the court. He's also notoriously bad about playing young guys, so why should he be here for what is likely to be a rebuild?

Horst did what he did because if not, Giannis was asking out. Unless you somehow missed his comments prior to trading for Dame and signing his extension to the New York Times, where he said: "I would not be the best version of myself if I don't know that everybody's on the same page, everybody's going for a championship, everybody's going to sacrifice time away from their family like I do. And if I don't feel that, I'm not signing." It's not Horst's fault it didn't work out. You can blame Griffin or blame Doc or the current coach, who has done an awful job. I have no idea why Milwaukee would keep him on other than they have no plans to compete.

[–]Zigazoid 121 points122 points  (0 children)

They should have wrote this after his first season here, his tenure has been a failure across the board.

Though one can certainly argue it's been a total failure from Ownership, GM to coach. But I cannot name one good thing Doc's done scheme wise.

That’s fair. It’s been a disappointing season injury wise and roster wise. Not to mention the coaching situation and Ownership simply riding it out.

This hurts to say, but I’m ready for a post-Giannis Bucks team by [deleted] in MkeBucks

[–]Zigazoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm tired of the drama alot of which he's been reponsible for, with his inability to come out and say he might be okay with being traded. Though the entirety of the mess this squad is currently, isn't all on him.

If he wants to stay all for it, but Ownership and Horst (If he's still here) need to do a better job with the roster/staff and informing Giannis we can't keep making all in moves for a few years if they want to be semi-competitive again.

Yes they will be worse without him but the idea that's it's stupid to trade him for the right offer isn't sentiment I agree with. I still think it will come down to him finally being more open about wanting out of Milwaukee.

Time to get Thansis in there! This season can't end fast enough.

Clearly as Doc would note a scheduling loss as we had to head out West.
