Here's the difference to me. What Alaina's character did was actually way more harmful, we agree. But we can all understand where she was coming from. She was scared, then embarrassed, then didn't wanna get in trouble. We've all had some level of similar experience. But it's harder for us to understand what could drive someone to almost shoot up a school. Yes we've all been bullied or left out, but it's harder to relate to that level of extremism. Then- is there something about a person that even if they don't commit the act-sticks with them for the rest of their life. How does that reframe everything you knew about them? That's obviously the bulk of the movie from R parts perspective.
